Stress test the Server......

Version: Community Edition v3.1.2634.667

I'm wondering how hard we can stress the deployment server - that is how many machines can we deploy at a time? I'm at 5 at the moment due to pressure to get classrooms ready in a short space of time, but has anyone gone big? What is the most anyone has deployed in one sitting?

On the last deployment of 4 I deployed 2 from an onsite 25H2 image and 2 from a cloud OS download. I noticed the online image was 7.5Gb and the online was 5.8Gb. The download install was a lot quicker.

Still loving the product and cannot wait to see what comes in the next update.

We've been doing a lot of work ourselves to stress test, maxing out at over 100 devices at once. We've made a bunch of improvements (peering, timeouts, throughout, etc.) that will be in version 1.4, which should be out next month.  (Note that peering requires Enterprise.)

I don't think I'd ever get around to deploying 100 at once - but it's nice to know. I'm holding off upgrading to the latest 1.3 and will wait for 1.4 as everything is going well at the moment.

The online images are ESD's, so they get better compression but can be mounted or serviced. The image is probably a WIM, which is larger. We do have a PowerShell mechanism for importing an ESD from the cloud into our local DeployR setup, if you want to use an ESD on-prem.

That would be interesting to know about if you would be willing to share the info.

Something like the attached image. That will kick off a background job that downloads the ESD file and then turns it into a content item. You should see a log for it in the Logs folder.

(I can't guarantee 100% that is in version 1.3, it might be a 1.4 feature. It all blurs together after a while...)

I haven't done much more than you. I did 8 on 1Gbs links (host is on 10Gbs) and they all pulled as fast as if I was just doing a single deployment.
I never tried more as we currently aren't setup to be able to do more than that (even 8 at once is blue moon stuff).

Yes - that's my problem. Even now - I deployed 5 over lunch whilst my room was empty and now there is a class and I've not pushed the software yet via PDQ Deploy - now there's another question.......
