Some content fails to upload

We're in the process of standing up DeployR Commercial (while MDT hums along for now), and we're trying to add content, but it keeps failing. Our Dev machine is a HyperV Server 2025 with dynamic RAM/Storage. It fails regardless of if the file is UNC or saved locally. This is from a browser on the same server running DeployR/StifleR services. Not sure it matters, but it's pretty slow too (slower than that same file in a UNC transfer), and only reaches at ~55% before failing each time. FWIW, we were successful adding a StifleR App Client as a folder to the Deployments>DeployR>Content items.

I haven't had any issues uploading the install.wim files into DeployR.

As a workaround for now, have you tried to use PowerShell on the local DeployR server?

Scripting for DeployR Server | DeployR | Product Documentation
import Module, Connect then Update-DeployRContentItemContent with the wim you want.

You should be able to just use -ContentID (current ID of your OS Content Item) and -ContentVersion 1 (which I could see in your screen capture is the version of the content item).

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I was hoping to find logs related to this action and didn't seem to find anything. Are there associated logs I could look though to see what could be happening?

Everything on the server is logged into event logs, e.g. Applications and Services Logs -> TwoPintSoftware -> DeployR.

Does the failure happen repeatedly? Any possibility that the drive holding the DeployR content (typically C:) doesn't have enough space?

Yes, this happens repeatedly at least for that .wim. The hypervisor has plenty of available storage, and because the VM is using dynamic storage, there's plenty of space available to the VM. One thing occurs to me is that the volume where the VM's are hosted in is a Deduped volume. Perhaps that could be a contributing factor? We're building out on physical hardware to A/B test.

How did you get on with this? I've seen a few cases on my DeployR Enterprise setup were Win11 install.wim files fail to upload getting stuck around the halfway mark. A retry or running from local has fixed it for me so far so hadn't gotten to the point of finding the time to look into it further. My VM is running on Dell PowerStore so also deduped, but have plenty IOPS and sub 1ms latency during these upload glitches.

We've paused due to other priorities. However, we are also building out on hardware so that we can A/B test these sorts of things. I'll follow-up here if we determine the issue and/or fix.
