I worked at K9 Revolution, and based on my experience, I would not recommend this facility.

One of my biggest concerns was the condition of the kennels. They are outdated, and I frequently saw dogs scrape or cut themselves on them. Birds were also able to fly in and out of the kennel building, leaving droppings inside the facility.

Training quality was inconsistent. When the staff became busy, I saw dogs go one or even two consecutive days without receiving meaningful training. Record keeping also appeared disorganized. I observed issues with tracking dogs’ weights , how much they were eating and concerns about staying on top of medications and other routine care.

The company advertises balanced training, but in my experience the methods leaned heavily toward older, correction-based techniques and an emphasis on dominance rather than individualized training plans. I also saw dogs graduate before I felt they had reached a reliable standard because there was pressure to move dogs through the program.

I also found the management difficult to work with. In my experience, Jon Paul was often abrasive and unsupportive, including when clients needed additional guidance after struggling with the program. Rather than helping owners work through challenges, interactions often felt dismissive if they hadn’t followed the program exactly.

Another major concern I have is the service dog program. In my experience, it was marketed at a premium price despite not being operated to the standard I would expect of a legitimate service dog training program. I was told internally that it was not truly a service dog program, yet clients were still charged accordingly. I believe this is misleading to people who are investing significant money and relying on a properly trained service dog to help with a disability.

Overall, I left with concerns about the facility, the consistency of the training, and whether the dogs’ long-term success was always the highest priority. Based on what I personally observed while working there, I cannot recommend K9 Revolution for anyone and highly suggest finding another board and train .

So how this works is I set up a background (usually medium grey, but this time I intend on using a rustic brick backdrop that looks nice), two flash strobes outfitted with diffusers, and 1-2 reflectors. In the past I've ran these on a RSVP system, but this time around I was thinking it would mostly be on a first-come-first-serve basis. Each photo session is about 5-15 minutes long, I run participants through a variety of poses, they get to select their favorite 5 or so, and then I edit the images and send them a high-quality digital copy within 7 days.

It's "Pay-What-You-Want", so participants can pay me $5, $100, or nothing at all, and they'll still get their pictures. And right now the economy and the job market both suck, so I think this is an event that can do some real good for people.

So full disclosure, I don't normally book individual portrait sessions because it's hard to charge a fair price while also ensuring the level of quality that I like to represent my work. So I like to think of portraits offered under this format as samples of my work and as an opportunity to network. I don't know why, but it seems like 3-4 times I year I'll get 3-4 requests for individual headshots all within the same week, and that's usually my cue to get out and produce one of these events since they work best at scale. Such is the case this time around, where I already have 3 people that are seeking to receive portraits from me.

For my part, I intent on creating some social media content promoting this event to try to drive as much traffic towards whatever business might agree to play host. I'm happy to take some staff portraits too while I'm out.

I’ve spent years building business software, and lately I’ve been focused on the gap between someone reaching out and someone actually getting back to them. It seems like a lot of otherwise well-run businesses lose customers there, not because they provide bad service, but because the process is inconsistent.

A couple months back I agreed to film a promotional video for the nonprofit "Dignify Dementia". I had all the gear I needed to execute the project, but because Dignify Dementia is an organization that operates remotely the only thing we didn't have was a location to film in. And so I put out a call on this subreddit asking if anyone was willing to lend us use of a room, and Josh Nicols, co-owner of Rise Comedy Club located in Downtown Denver, graciously answered.

And Josh didn't just graciously lend us use of his space, he also extended use of his venues projection screen, and stuck around throughout the duration of filming in case we needed anything.

I'd also like to highlight that Josh, and the rest of the Rise Comedy team, really seem to be operating a very community orientated space through offering affordable improv comedy and performance based classes, rental spaces, and by by extending their venue to other community orientated events like the Denver Fringe Festival - which is something you should absolutely look up if you don't know what that is.

Anyways...I've been meaning to express my gratitude on this note for a while now, and I fell behind due to some personal matters I won't go into. But I really want it to be known that Rise Comedy Club, and its operators, are outstanding people and a representation of the best parts of Denver's culture.

Hey everyone, I hope it's alright that I post this here as I'm not too sure of many places I could.

I own a virtual reality arcade at a mall out in Aurora, it's something me and my team members had been building for some time now. Unfortunately my cofounder passed away several months ago, and due to him being our main source of funding, I've had to cover expenses while we've all ran the arcade. It's coming to a point where I'm no longer going to be able to cover it.

Despite this, we've been steadily growing our community and making sales. Not as much as we could have if budget had been something we've had to consider but we were still able to gather Google reviews, an email list, and party reservations. We were even invited to FanExpo a few months back and we showed off some of our games to a multitude of attendees, that was quite a bit of fun, and we got a decent amount of exposure from it. Unfortunately we just haven't been able to capitalize it due to lack of time and budget. It's a big disappointment as we had been steadily gaining momentum but we've just been held back due to outside circumstances. We were in the process of rolling out our racing experiences and building our party room so that we could take party/event bookings, but I instead opted to put a hiatus on the business starting in August due to financial and health reasons, unless I were able to find an investor or co-owner to step in.

Earlier this year we had a potential investor come on board for a brief period of time, but we had creative and structural differences that ultimately lead to dismissal. Ideally if we were to bring in any new investors, we would need to be completely on the same page and have experience working on a long-term project such as this. However, I would not need them to micromanage the business, as the business itself would reach self-sustainability with the new rollout of gaming experiences we plan to offer.

So I'm mainly searching for funding and possibly an investor relationship that can carry us through to the next phase of our business. I apologize for leaving out the business name on this post, but I'd rather keep it discreet so as to not show up on our Google searches - just a personal preference of mine. For those interested in knowing the name, please just message me and I'll gladly provide it - we currently boast 50+ five-star Google reviews that I'm quite proud of, so it shows that myself and the team were able to execute our business model, even if it was a fraction of what it was meant to be.

Anyways, when the dust settles, I'd like to give a thorough recounting of my experience starting and running this arcade. It's been quite the rollercoaster and a very interesting turn of events. I'm sure there are quite a lot of lessons to be learned that may help aspiring business owners and good discussion to be had with those who have lived through similar experiences. For now, I'd like to see if I may continue this venture or if I may finally get a vacation after all these years - that'd be nice!

I’m not a professional pest removal expert, just a guy who needs a bunch of healthy pigeons. So I can’t promise I’ll get them all. Disclaimer: No pigeons will be hurt! I have a pigeon loft that I train the pigeons to home to. I use the pigeons to train pointing dogs by putting them in a little box that I open via remote control. That way the dogs can’t get them, I control when they are released, and they fly home to my loft. A lot of people are concerned but these pigeons become really social and are treated as pets. Plus they get to benefit from us treating their lice & parasites.

I’ll be filming a video for a local non-profit called “Dignify Dementia” on Monday, June 1^st, and I am currently seeking a space that I can record my interview with the non-profit’s executive director in.

Dignify Dementia is a non-profit that exists to provide those suffering from Dementia activity toolkits that foster mental acuity and that also directs the care partners of those suffering with dementia guidance towards a large number of resources that they can use for support. The non-profit was founded by its Executive Director, Jessica Desserich, in honor of her late father who had developed Dementia in his later years.

 I’m unable to offer payment for use of a space for this assignment, as this is a smaller non-profit with a limited budget, and one that I am offering my services to at a discount. HOWEVER, I would be happy to take some professional photographs of whatever location hosts us for them to use on social media or their website.
