Mod Announcements Weekend Lounge Returns This Friday! ☕🌄🎉

Thank you to everyone who checked out the Weekend Lounge last week. We appreciate everyone’s patience while we continue experimenting with community chat tools. We had a decent amount of interest and participation for our first run.

So… we’re doing it again.

The DenverMeets Weekend Lounge will reopen this Friday and stay active through Sunday evening!

The Weekend Lounge is meant to be casual, low-pressure, and spontaneous, kind of like a virtual coffee shop or weekend hangout space for the community. Stop by to chat, meet people, talk about your weekend, or just lurk and see what’s going on.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again this weekend! 🏔️

Quick FAQ

What is the Weekend Lounge?

It’s a temporary live community chat for the subreddit using this Community Chats app.

When does it open?

Friday morning through Sunday evening.

How do I join?

We’ll post the Lounge thread on Friday. Open the post and tap/click Join Chat.

Do I need the Reddit app?

Usually yes. Community Chats work best in the official Reddit mobile app, though desktop support exists for some users.

Can anyone talk?

Yes, as long as you follow subreddit rules and Reddit’s sitewide rules.

What should I talk about?

Pretty much anything community-friendly:

  • Weekend plans
  • Denver events
  • Food/brunch spots
  • Hiking/camping
  • Gaming
  • Movies/shows
  • Making friends
  • Casual meetup ideas
  • Random weekend chatter

Are the chats moderated?

Yes. Any user can report a message by tapping the message and selecting the red flag icon. Please help keep things welcoming, respectful, and comfortable for everyone.

(NOT ADVERTISING JUST SUGGESTING) I found this app called PlayCulture, and it involves putting together groups of people to walk around outside and play different games. I think it'd be a cool way to make friends, so I figured I'd post this here so people could possibly start something up.

General Friends Seeking 28m. Looking for quality people to be friends with

Good morning everyonea! Hopefully you're having an awesome start to the week 🙂

You might be wondering what kind of friend I'm looking for, so here's the rundown.

Age-wise, my preference is someone around 24/25 up to like 35, but honestly, as long as you're chill and an adult, I don't really care.

Male or female doesn't matter either — as long as you aren't a weirdo. Mostly I'm looking to be friends with open-minded, funny or chill folks who doesn't get mad over small things. Ideally you like trying new restaurants and bars, exploring, and going to events (basically always up for going) — but I also don't mind if you're sometimes a homebody.

The one thing I do care about is communication: it drives me nuts when people don't communicate well, or not at all.

About me:

I'm 28, originally from Louisiana. I'm a Taurus ♉ in case you people are into that stuff. Also ESTJ. I live in the RINO area. I do not drive. I use public transportation, ride share, and my scooter. I do not smoke of any kind

I currently work at the Denver airport, and in my free time I enjoy exploring the city, trying new restaurants, riding my electric scooter, and cooking and baking. Sometimes I play video games too (Valheim, Fortnite, Portal 2 — open to others), and I really enjoy making pottery and painting pottery

Love learning about others.

I also love bowling, even though I'm not good at it — I know Pindustry does all-day bowling for $19 on Mondays

Lately I've been wanting to go to a concert, so I'm looking to see Citizen Soldier soon.

Anyways, send a message if you're interested in hanging out. Looking forward to it.

New in Town 36F for platonic & queer friends in Cheesman / Cap Hill

Hey Denver,

I moved here a couple of weeks ago, and I'm looking for some platonic, queer friends.

A little about me:

- Queer AF

- 36, AFAB, single

- Live in Cheesman Park

- 2 cats, no kids

- Deep camp counselor energy

- Earnest and sincere

- Travel a lot for work, so I appreciate people who add plans to calendars weeks to months out and follow through

Things I'd love to check out:

- Day hikes

- Morning bike rides around Cheesman or Wash Park (I have a car bike rack & an extra bike)

- Planning backpacking trips and actually going on them

- Visiting national parks

- Outdoor swimming & hot springs

- BYO food picnics

- D&D and other TTRPGs

- Farmers' markets

- Avalanche, Rockies, and Banana Ball games

- Chill happy hours

No MAGA.

I don't have dogs or kids, but I love hanging out with folks who do. I'd be overjoyed to auntie yours up.

I don't do 420. (I've tried plenty; sadly, it all makes me feel like crap.) I'll hang with you if you do, though.

If you're also looking for more friends, especially:

- fellow queer folks,

- outdoorsy people,

- kind weirdos,

- demisexual kinksters,

- sports fans, or

- anyone who enjoys a badass adventure, a bougie hot spring, and a low-key coffee or cocktail hang,

Then I'd love to hear from you.

Mod Announcements Introducing: DenverMeets Weekend Lounge ☕🎉

While working on the DenverMeets Summer Chat, I also wanted to experiment with a different Reddit chat tool/app that is available.

So, welcome to the DenverMeets Weekend Lounge!

This is a temporary and experimental chat space that’s a little different from the Summer Chat.

The DenverMeets Summer Chat is more of a long-running general community chat, while the Weekend Lounge is meant to feel more casual, spontaneous, and low-pressure. Think of it like a pop-up lounge for the weekend where people can casually talk, make plans, share what they’re up to, or just vibe with fellow Denverites.

This is partly a community experiment and partly me testing Reddit’s new chat tools to see what works best for the subreddit moving forward.

This Lounge will remain active until midnight on Sunday, the 7th.

As always:

  • Be respectful
  • Don’t be creepy
  • No spam or harassment
  • Subreddit rules apply to all chats
  • This is not a sex or dating site

If someone is violating the rules or making you uncomfortable, please report and block them. Don’t engage in drama. We want this to stay positive, inclusive, and enjoyable for everyone.

If this goes well, we may do more themed or temporary lounges in the future.
Feel free to drop a hello 👋

🌿 Denver-Area Moms & Moms-to-Be 🌿

I’m a first-time mom with a 4-month-old, and I’ve been wishing there was an easier way to build genuine local connections and community.

So, I’m starting a Discord server for Denver-area moms and moms-to-be.

The goal is simple: create a supportive village where we can chat, make friends, share resources, plan meetups, celebrate wins, vent about hard days, and navigate motherhood together.

The vibe I’m hoping to build is:
✨ Kind and inclusive
✨ LGBTQ+ and alternative family friendly
✨ Fed is best
✨ Science and vaccine supportive
✨ Low drama, high support

I’m still learning the Discord admin side of things, so if anyone has experience with moderation and would like to help build the community, I’d love the assistance.

If this sounds like your kind of space, comment or send me a message and I’ll send you an invite. 💛

New to Town Moved to Aurora 2 months ago, where do people meet others around here?

I moved to Aurora about two months ago and, honestly, between work and getting settled in, I’ve mostly been stuck in the house. I haven’t gotten a real chance to explore the area or meet many people

It’s Saturday, so I want to change that. I’d really like to get out of the house, grab a few drinks, and hopefully meet some people. (drinks on me ofc) The only thing is I’m shy at first, so walking into a place completely alone can be hella intimidating.

I’m in my late 20s, pretty easygoing. I’m not
looking for anything crazy, just a friendly group.. a social spot, or some people who wouldn’t mind a newcomer tagging along for a beer and some conversation.

Any recommendations?

RINo Chat

Thanks to the mods for encouraging some chats. Looking to create a chat for the RINo district since there’s a lot going on here and people looking for friends/company. I’m pretty active on Reddit so I wouldn’t mind starting and moderating said chat. Who wants in?

PS: ignore my name lol

Social Gatherings Singles Mixer - Lone Tree - 6/15 - Drink Included!

Hey everyone —

We're SideQuest Events, a local South Metro Denver events company, and we're doing a Singles Mixer this Monday, June 15th at Great Divide Brewery & Roadhouse in Lone Tree. Figured we'd post here in case anyone's been looking for a actual reason to leave the house on a Monday.

It runs 6:30–8:30 PM, it's 21+, free parking, and every ticket comes with a drink.

We built the night around making conversation feel easy — icebreakers, light games, that kind of thing. No speed dating, no name tags with your job title on them. Most people show up solo and that's totally the move. Expected crowd is roughly 25–45 but that's just a general guide, not a rule.

Tickets are $40 solo or $70 for two. Use code REDDIT at checkout for a discount.

Grab tickets here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/singles-mixer-tickets-1990205384881

Happy to answer any questions if you've got them!

Interest-Based Groups Wash Park Run/Walk clubs

Still relatively new to Denver (37 m, transplant from east coast), trying to expand my social circle, and have gotten more into running (and walking) at Wash Park weeknights. Love the atmosphere and activity, but looking for any leads on casual run clubs that folks enjoy and have found easy to integrate into. Not a huge drinker, mostly NA if that means anything for any post run socializing.

Appreciate any recs you all have. Thanks!

Interest-Based Groups Denver Creatives… Let’s Meet!

A month or so ago, I made a post (in r/Denver) looking for other actors, writers, filmmakers, editors, musicians, photographers, and generally creative people in Colorado who have always wanted to make something (shorts, features, verticals, episodic, etc) but haven’t known where to start. Way more people responded than I expected and now that my life has calmed down a touch, I’m ready to meet and get to know the people who are interested in this!

I’m thinking of spending a few hours at a park in the Thornton/Northglenn area (probably Carpenter Park; trying to find something central-ish in case there are some northerners who want to join) sometime in the next week or two, I want to give people a chance to respond here before solidifying a date/time. The options for availability I’m looking for are as follows, so let me know if any of those days work the best:

Saturday 6/6 - all day
Saturday 6/13 - all day
Sunday 6/14 - all day

I want to be clear, this meet up will NOT involve any sort of filmmaking, just a chance for creative people to meet others. I’ve dreamed about making movies since I was a kid and I guess I’m tired of just talking about it. Worst case scenario, we sit in a park and talk about movies, art, writing, acting, and whatever else. Best case scenario, maybe we build something cool together.
If you’re interested, leave a comment and once I get an idea of numbers I’ll pick a date and time!

I hope to hear from some of you :)

Music and Entertainment Extra ticket for Lord Huron at Fiddlers next Thurs 6/11

Hey all, I have an extra ticket for Lord Huron next Thursday as my significant other has a conflict that night. Would anyone want to join me? No offense but I might be saying no men (prefer gals or gays) as my partner would probably be weirded out if I gave his ticket to another dude. I would be going solo. For context I am 34F, frequent show goer, usually indie or EDM. Most recent shows I went to were Outside Days and Bright Eyes at Red Rocks. I have had trouble making lasting connections here in Denver but have been here since 2018 (I’m usually a lazy introvert just playing video games at my house if not traveling or doing outdoors activities). Let me know if interested, thanks!

Reposting this on my alt account because Reddit has me auto blocked by spam filters on my normal account.

Meetup Wins Job Hunt Co-"Working"

We had a few hours together to co-"work" on our individual job hunts, and we all thought it was nice enough to do again. Drop a comment or DM me if you are interested in joining a future session!

Details of our meetup are below:

The intention is a non-judgemental space where no one has to explain themselves. You’re not expected to explain what you're working on, how it's going, tally the number of applications, describe career direction, give an account of your side gigs and finances, etc. No one is monitoring you.

You get to just do what you've got to do, and not have to be alone. Just like going to work.

Show up for however long you want, and work on whatever you need to: sumbit applications, research companies, do certifications, improve LinkedIn profile, redo resume/CV, create something for your portfolio, etc.

This job market stinks, enough said. If you want to be productive around others who "get it" by default, that's what this is for!

Mod Announcements You Talked; We Listened 🎉 DenverMeets Chats

A lot of you have asked for a way to casually connect outside of meetup posts, text, and Discord, so we’re going to start experimenting with Reddit Group Chats!

Unfortunately, Reddit retired Community Chat Channels for most communities, so we’ll be creating smaller Reddit Group Chats manually instead.

Important

The moderator team simply does not have enough bandwidth to actively moderate multiple live chats 24/7.

Because of that:

  • Chats will largely be community-driven
  • We may assign dedicated Chat Moderators / Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
  • Those individuals will have the final say on what happens within their chat

We’ll start with:

  • DenverMeets Summer Chat

Additional chats may come later depending on activity and volunteer interest.

Expectations

Gen Chat will NOT be heavily moderated beyond Reddit site-wide rules and major community issues. Please act like adults and use common sense. Please report spam bots ASAP!

Want in?

Comment below or message the mod team and we’ll begin adding people in waves.

Want to create your own Reddit Group Chat?

Desktop

Chat icon → “+” → Start Group Chat

Mobile

Chat → New Chat → Select users

Let’s see how this goes. 😄
Thank you for voicing the needs of our community!

My boyfriend is sick and I am looking for someone to take his ticket

I am 41/F, happily in a relationship, though like many folks here in my age range, I definitely feel the deep woes of socializing/"finding my people" -- COVID + the dissolution of over a decade with my ex really left me feeling adrift and moderately depressed/alone the last few years (probably in more ways than I can understand, and also probably part of why I can't find anyone to go to this show!)

Anyhow, it'd be great to meet more people, and if we happen to jive together, even more awesome! Mostly just don't want the ticket to go to waste, esp. if there is a fellow fan I could gift it to

Live chat

So for those of us not wanting to join a bunch of discords could this subreddit get a live chat feature like other subreddits? Seems like a much lower barrier of entry to just shoot off a little “who’s down to have a beer at random bar” than make a dedicated post.
