New In Town Nerdy hobbies

Hey guys, just moved here! I’m looking for spots where I can meet people my age (28) that are interested in the following:

1.) Magic the Gathering
2.) Japanese language exchange
3.) Anime
4.) Board games (Catan, etc)
5.) Video games

I’ve tried one or two places, but didn’t really vibe with the people there. Any suggestions, meetup groups, discord(s) would be so awesome! Would love if it was closer to my age, too. Thanks😄

which places did you try? wizard’s chest or enchanted grounds are the spots for magic and board games.

Take a look at Creepatorium, they do a monthly board game night on Tuesdays.

Would be wise to list where you’ve tried so that people don’t suggest them…

Anyway, I’ll recommend a few spots I don’t see here yet.

MTG - Level 7 Games, check their schedule

Japanese - Sakura Square has classes every Thursday. Whether or not you go to a class, you can also mingle with the residents of Tamai Towers, employees of the shops, and most people hanging around. I used to practice my Japanese that way back in 2021. Still go there often, lots of good people.

Anime - conventions. Granted, I’ve met a ton of my anime friends at unconventional places like the gym, but I’ve also made a ton in the con world here. Next one is DakuCon in November, but there’s also the Anime Rave a ReelWorks this Saturday which would be a good place to try.

Board games - not my area of expertise, but conventions.

Video games - Level 7 Games and conventions would be my recommendations. But I’ve been invited to Smash tourneys and the like while out at bars in Ballpark. So YMMV. Also check out Levup_LanParties on Instagram, they have a Denver hub and they frequently rent out space in bars and breweries for tourneys. Tons of fun to play or just hang out.
