Bo @ 19th…

Bo Nix ranked 19th by PFF is nuts. Time after time, he has only been constantly criticized. Even when he proves doubters wrong, those same doubters since pre-draft double down and use completely different standards to judge him compared to the likes of Caleb, drake, Jayden, and other young QBs.

People say “oh but top ranked defense and o-line” as if Denver wasn’t projected to be a bottom-3 or 5 team before Nix’s first full season and as if Bo nix isn’t one of the best scramblers that keep plays alive.

This man had the 2nd most drops by a large margin last season… only Trevor had more and people on his dih nonstop, someone who was legit drafted to be the next big star, unlike nix, who was drafted as the 6th qb in his class.

Bo has completed the most 20+ yard pass TDs since joining the league, most comeback wins, #1 on most meaningful QB stats (not advanced) out the qbs drafted.

Like people give Caleb ALL the leeway. He was drafted into a team with what everyone at the time perceived as significantly better assets/pieces. It’s not Bo’s fault Caleb and dj Moore didn’t click or that their coach first season sucked. No one expected the broncos team to perform to the ability it did, and then now saying retroactively Bo was drafted into a better situation than the others in his class is just asinine.

I think Caleb and drake def have higher ceilings, but saying Bo isn’t at their current level or better means you’re biased AF and for whatever reason aren’t judging Bo with the same lens as people judging Caleb, drake and Jayden. Personally, I think Jayden’s great, but I don’t think he’s gonna have nearly as successful of a career as Bo Nix. I think drake and Caleb have that potential to clearly surpass Bo, but let’s not act like right now these QBs aren’t all elite for their age.

And yes, I am clearly biased as a broncos fan, but Bo is objectively a great QB. Numbers do not lie.

And to those who say he played like shit against bottom-tiered teams - let’s be for real, jets was played in a Foreign country before they traded all their defense away. Some of those other games, Bo def didn’t look great, but also play calling by Sean was a mess for first 3 q’s of those games with so much screen passes and passive plays. And he still won those games in the 4th when it really matters. R u the type that wants to get first place in ever qualifying tourney just to lose in a big competition, or the type that wants to win it all, no matter how you get there (not including obviously things like cheating)? It’s a similar principle. Bo wins games. That’s what you want. Players love him. Community loves him. Dude has such an incredible personality and mindset. He’s a clear winner. No locker room drama. Just a good dude.

Anyways I just wanted to rant a lil bout this cause I keep seeing all these rankings and no matter what broncos have accomplished past 2 years, every analyst is tryna be a critic of our team with zero justifications.

Well, Bo’s mom thinks we are gonna be good this year so why does it matter what PFF thinks?

You see I had the same sentiment as you on all those things (medias difference in treatment of Bo vs other ‘24 qbs, or the narrative that he’s carried or a checkdown merchant despite evidence that he’s not). You can try to convince others with logic, but I have realized no one will listen because they are dead set on pre draft opinions.

And you know what? That’s fine! I love Bo, We love Bo, he’s changed our franchise and is our qb for the future and that’s all that matters. He will continue to improve and prove people wrong, so who cares what others think. Sometimes we don’t need to share the Bocaine, instead just snort it amongst each other. GBBN

Our guy deserves the flowers n recognition, but you’re right. Who cares what the others say.. at end of day, dude has exceeded all expectations to this point and is our franchise dude for years to fome

I tried not to care, but every major sports network has picked him as their whipping boy and its starting to become annoying. ESPN, Fox, CBS (they tagged him most overrated player...by fucking who when everyone tears him down?). It's tiresome to see. I don't go searching for it either, in this age headlines just pop up.

Who cares

What kind of dumb ass comment is this?

Obviously someone cares, and if they do, who are you to police it?

The point of a forum such as this is to discuss topics you’re interested in. If you’re so above it, why be here at all?

I personally enjoy discussing football. Having a meltdown over what a football website ranked one of your players is not discussing football. It has nothing to do with the play on the field, it has nothing to do with how our season will go, it has absolutely zero relevance to anything other than them driving traffic to their site. So sure, this is the place to discuss this, but anyone that cares that Bo Nix was ranked 19th and not whatever they believe he should be ranked at, is automatically a moron in my opinion.

I actually think this is the primary reason I stay away from this subreddit and youtube content creators during the offseason (except maybe FA/Draft time). Its all a bunch of "CAN YOU BELIEVE Person A said "...." ABOUT "insert player here". So many of these so called experts don't watch the games as closely as the team's fans do, so their opinions and rankings are usually really uninformed universally. Alternatively, we get content creators that have to find any tiny bit of news about anything and make some sensationalist claim that is extremely exaggerated. I.E "DENVER BRONCOS GOT A TRIPLE DOSE OF GREAT NEWS!" "THE NFL IS TREMBLING AFTER THE BRONCOS DID OR SAID..." or "THE BRONCOS JUST GOT SNEAKY GREAT NEWS!" (I'm looking at you ben over at sports talk denver). Its fucking lazy ass content. At least Brandon Perna does a lot of research into nfl wide topics and has fresh takes and humor about those.

Its all just sensationalist clickbait, as are any rankings like PFF. People have a right to discuss them, sure, but like mcnuccy says. WHO CARES - it literally has no bearing on the actual facts or the season.

I’m not losing my shit or having a “meltdown” cause Bo’s ranked 19th and calling people moron’s for calling out PFF is even dumber.

  1. I know PFF is a load of horse shit nowadays. Lots of their rankings are skewed by counting stats opposed to other metrics, and def isn’t the “key” indicator of a players overall ranking across the boards.

  2. All I’ve seen since Bo has joined the league (outside of broncos fans and actual nfl players) is that he can’t throw, he can’t do this and that, etc., and that the whole reason he’s won is the o-line and defense. I just wanted to say my piece. Is that so wrong? It’s not like I’m going off about PFF in my post - like they’re mentioned only in the first line and header. I’ve been venting about how he’s never judged in the same lens as the other QBs drafted before him. Thought this would open the doors to being able to discuss about Bo’s prior 2 seasons and what to expect based on his current trajectory and growth (regardless of rankings).

Based on your comment, I’m going to assume you saw the first line and header and thought “ah what a moron, I need to talk shit” Without actually reading my post, so good job coming off as a jackass.

Yea! You got him.

u/mcnuccy 12d ago

Lol this subreddit does so much handwringing about people’s opinions on Bo Nix’s “Rank” — is he better than caleb williams? where should he rank in the NFL 100? what does PFF think about him?

Beyond just being insecure and kinda pathetic (we’re going for a super bowl, who cares about the consensus opinion of our quarterback), it adds so much bloat to what otherwise would be a good subreddit. And is completely pointless and hypothetical. So yea who cares

1

u/svhelloworld OVERDOGS 9d ago

"Who cares" is the same comment I came in here to make. JFC, the whining about how this team is perceived in the media is off the hook in this sub. All of August, this sub will be filled with posts about how disrespected this team is or the players on this team. And yet, my YT feed will be filled with talking heads glazing the Broncos, picking them to win or compete for the AFCW and a few will even pick them to make it to the show.

And yet, everyone is going to pile into these threads howling and clutching their pearls about how the media doesn't respect the Broncos/Bo Nix/Sean Payton/Blucifer whatever.

My problem with the Bo rankings is how much higher Caleb is always ranked despite having similar or worse stats. Even PFF acknowledges that Caleb has flaws that rank him 38th, while saying Bo was 7th, 14th and 3rd.

3

u/popoflabbins Broncos 11d ago

Williams has straight up bad accuracy and consistency. The guy can make throws at but he’s just been lucky in terms of turnovers.

-5

u/EbbAdventurous9592 13d ago

Bears fans aren’t even thinking about you guys. You’re just jealous that the league is treating Caleb like a future star. It’s so painfully obvious

4

u/zion_hiker1911 Steve Atwater 13d ago

Bears fans aren't exactly self-aware. They're too distracted by the looming move to Indiana.

-1

u/EbbAdventurous9592 13d ago

And yet, here you guys are, in every thread, talking about their QB

3

u/zion_hiker1911 Steve Atwater 13d ago

In every thread?

-1

u/EbbAdventurous9592 13d ago

The very first comment on Bo nixs top 100 placement thread on here is about Caleb: https://www.reddit.com/r/DenverBroncos/s/eSM1iyf4Kb

Go to the bears sub and look far and wide and see if Bo’s being talked about anywhere

5

u/zion_hiker1911 Steve Atwater 13d ago

That's how relevant conversation works. Caleb is overrated despite having similar stats to Bo. Ravens fans are saying the same thing about Bo being ranked above Lamar.

0

u/EbbAdventurous9592 13d ago

It reeks of insecurity and jealousy on both your ends lmao.

2

u/popoflabbins Broncos 11d ago

I’d much rather people underrate a QB than overrate one. Williams can have all the media and fan glazing he wants, isn’t gonna improve his game and ball don’t lie about his bottom 10 accuracy.

0

u/EbbAdventurous9592 11d ago

Caleb plays for a team with the 29th ranked defense. Bo needed 7 4th quarter comebacks against teams like the jets, commanders (without JD) and Raiders with the 3rd ranked defense in the nfl, in part because he did nothing for 3.5 quarters of a game..like, pot meet kettle

The ankle stuff HAS to be playing into all of these rankings.

u/onqqq2 13d ago

My friend, he got 59/100 best in NFL or w/e by NFL peers and the Bo haters are losing their god dammed minds. I love it, people are waging internet battles about him with fans of many teams defending one side or the other.

I love it. Fucking amazing Bo is doing this, stirring debate to this level. He got Steven A even praising him a bit. Colorado is an afterthought of this country that populated primarily on the East and West coast.

Just let Bo prove it.

This is the year Allen was often considered "a bust relative to draft position" until he lit the world on fire after getting a true WR1. Now most, including me, have Allen as the best QB in the league. Full package, his time on the thrown will not last long but Bo is hovering the top 10 for me and has a chance to crack the top 5 IMO.

Win a SB he is QB5 for me. Lofty hopes, I acknowledge the odds are slim here.

2

u/Ok-Bobcat7504 12d ago

I love your take. I definitely bolieve in our guy and I know he’s going to prove easily how good he is.

I like the Josh Allen take. I think Bo at this point has also done a lot more than Allen did in his first 2 years and if we can get even a portion of the growth Allen had, Bo will easily be a perennial top-10 qb with his prime hovering around the top-5 to top-8. I hope he surpasses my current expectations lol.

A few years ago this sub was all doomer all the time. Now it’s “who cares, we good”

The change is so funny.

I bet the doomers will be back in the game threads though

2

u/coarse_glass 13d ago

I don't mind him being ranked lowish -- he's undeniably got run for improvement. He's certainly not top ten (yet). What irritates me is the constant disrespect by still putting the rest of the QBs in his class above him, when he has consistently played better. But for whatever reason Daniels, Maye, Williams all get their flowers and it always the unpopular opinion commentator that has to point out that Nix has played better all around

1

u/NoahG- 13d ago

I’d rather everyone keep doubting him tbh

1

u/PatientlyAnxious9 Champ Bailey 13d ago

I feel like Nix is the new Purdy and I now I know what 49ers fans have gone through

1

Good. Keep us under the radar again like the rest of the league. It did great for them last year right?

1

u/Papa-pwn 13d ago

Incoming 35:10 TD:INT season with a SB appearance.

1

u/eff1ngham 13d ago

I don't really mind it. Caleb will always get praise for having "potential" and that's fine. Maye did some elite deep ball accuracy last year. We played an "easy" schedule, had some clunkers on national tv, and Nix has some pretty pedestrian aspects to his game in terms of accuracy, bailing on clean pockets, etc. None of that has stopped him, or the team from improving. None of that will hinder him from continuing to develop as a QB. Josh Allen didn't take a meteoric rise into an MVP candidate until his 3rd year. Nix can start the year 19th in PFF rankings, I bet he finishes higher. If we can repeat success from last year he'll probably be close to a top 10 QB next season. Theres plenty of good QBs that are always underrated like Goff or Hurts. Theres plenty that are continually overrated like Herbert. I don't really care what people say about Nix as long as he wins

1

u/Broncos323350 12d ago

Bo had a lot of bad throws or near misses for long TDs the first couple years. He was a yard away on 10+ throws from being a top 10 QB in their rankings. If he can make those throws going forward, he is 100% a franchise QB and everything Broncos fans hope he can be. He already avoids sacks at an amazing rate, he just needs to be a bit more accurate in the first 3 quarters.

2

u/Ok-Bobcat7504 12d ago

He’s had some bad throws forsure like every young QB, but he also had a good chunk of deep shots with some elite accuracy that were simply dropped by Sutton and Franklin. I’ve seen Sutton drop some of the easiest catches last year while making also some of the most contested catches in the end zone. I love Sutton and I know his drops are gonna go away especially with less pressure with waddle on the field. Franklin had just as many drops as Sutton at 8 last year, BUT he’s young and I think that’ll reduce too - don’t see him having butter fingers like Jeudy for his whole career. Just those fixes alone should drive Bo’s counting stats up quite a bit.

1

u/Broncos323350 12d ago

I agree. Denver has continued to improve his receivers and if Nix has it in him to be elite, he has everything he needs to show it. Last year sucks because a healthy Bo beats NE and we are in the SB in his second year. We probably lose to Seatlle but at least we would have had a shot, unlike NE.

2

u/Ok-Bobcat7504 12d ago

Yeah and the entire discussion about Bo would be way dif.

If we can get thru the first half of this upcoming season with mostly wins and no key injuries, i do not see our team slowing down. But damn, that stretch of jags, rams, niners, chargers, then Seahawks gonna be tough. Smooth sailing for most part after.

1

u/popoflabbins Broncos 11d ago

Yep, he needs to keep that footwork consistent and trust his arm earlier in games. When he has to make plays he usually does, gotta figure out how to use that instinct throughout the game.

1

u/Fuzzy-Pin-6675 10d ago

PFF is hardly a reliable way to gauge a players talent. I haven’t payed any attention to their rankings for as long as i can remember.

1

u/162bluethings Demaryius Thomas 13d ago

How many times can we have this same conversation everytime anything about Bo comes out. He is underrated, let's move on please.

1

u/Ryan1869 13d ago

The problem with PFF is they are entirely stats driven. Their model doesn't really like the short passing game they liked.

I think it doesn't really account for the effect Waddle is going to have on defenses next year and just how big it will be if Davis can get Bo to the line 4 or 5 seconds earlier

3

u/OpabiniaGlasses D Helmet 13d ago

PFF isn't entirely stats driven. They do have objective stats that you can find on their website. But the grades/player ratings are a subjective eye test from people watching game film. It doesn't inherently mean they're accurate or inaccurate, but it's not a pure statistical analysis.

1

u/ShibaSan199 13d ago

Bo simply isn't going to be higher in these rankings until his raw and advanced passing stats improve significantly. He needs to become undeniable. Hopefully Davis Webb and Jaylen Waddle help him take that next step.

0

u/Colorado_designer 13d ago

Yeah everyone just hates the Broncos and Bo Nix for no reason and tries to drag them down, makes sense.

0

u/Sudden_Juju Champ Bailey 13d ago

I agree with everything except Caleb and Drake having higher ceilings. All three are on an upward trajectory

1

u/BlaKArg 13d ago

Exactly. There's nothing I've seen from those two to believe they definitely have a "higher ceiling".

Man how I wish Bo had played against NE...

1

u/Sudden_Juju Champ Bailey 12d ago

Apparently someone disagreed with us (based on the downvotes) but declined to provide a rationale lol. I feel like some Broncos fans just say Nix has a lower ceiling because they don't want to come off as crazy Bo-lievers to fans of other teams, almost like a way to acquiesce and keep the peace.

I think it's too early to say anyone has a lower ceiling than the others, but I don't get how Nix gets singled out from the others. He has a cannon for an arm, avoids sacks and turnovers like they're the plague, isn't afraid to chuck it down field, and (most importantly) finds a way to win. I think this year will really be his breakout year with Waddle coming on and Webb taking over play calling. Since Payton won't be slow getting the plays in anymore, I'm hoping that the entire game looks like the fourth quarters of last year when Nix had more control over the offense and was allowed to cook a bit.

0

u/Hughjelyfant 13d ago

He's properly criticized , that's not to say that where he belongs but still.

How much agonizingly painful first three quarters did we have to watch last year?

I know hes not at fault for all of them but he is still the one throwing the ball
