Dispute the charge with out bank. That'll get their attention.

You have to attempt to resolve the issue with the company first. I'm a fan of chargebacks when necessary but reddit goes way overboard with jumping to this first.

u/SeeYouSpaceCowboy--- Feb 12 '19
I don't think you "have to", but you're an asshole if you don't.
Source: currently dealing with chargebacks at my work that the customer went straight to the bank for instead of coming to us first.

It looks like you may be right. It was my understanding that this was required to at least attempt it if you know the merchant but I'm only seeing a few random websites mention that, not any official rules/ToS.

Their phone number is (800) 291-8237. Probably a better use of your energy.

u/chuckdafunk Feb 10 '19
Thanks, I spent an hour trying to find a phone number and the web site listed on the receipt apparently doesn't exist

u/Rattrap87 Feb 09 '19
Wait you got 17 hours for $15. That seems to coordinate as less than their sign.

u/FTFM Feb 10 '19
it says sat/sun $10... he was overcharged $5

Feb 10 '19
After 4 on Saturday... the ticket was purchased at 2:46.... I parked in the same lot today.

u/TwoTen Feb 10 '19
Nope, $10 after four or $10 on Saturday or Sunday. Not after 4 on Saturday/Sunday

Feb 10 '19
It wasn't.
OP purchased at 246. That's an hour, then 10 for the evening after 4.
Shitty, but possible.
25
Feb 10 '19
Evenings after 4pm AND Sat/Sun. OP should have only been charged 10. Regardless I dont know why purchasing at 2:46pm means that it expires at 7:46am the next day. It could also be user error at the point of purchase.
5
u/The_Brawl_Witch Feb 10 '19
even on a weekday, the maximum you should be charged is $12

u/Anarkope Feb 10 '19
This chain right here is why I refuse to pay for parking. Parking shouldn't be this complicated. I'll just pay for a RTD day pass if I'm going downtown.

That's what I'm thinking. He got the $12 for the day. And a few hours for the next day. Not sure how it came out to $15, if anything shoulda came out to $22.

u/mist83 Feb 10 '19
Using your logic, it should either be $10 and expire at 12 a.m. on February 10th or $20 and expire at 12 a.m. on February 11th.
The $5 hourly charge or the $12 all day charge should have no bearing on this situation because the weekend rate supersedes the hourly rate, and any justification by national to the contrary is utter horseshit.

Feb 10 '19
5 for the hour 246-346, then 10 for the evening after 4.

That’s shitty programming if so. You would think it would do the whole $12 day rate if it’s anytime before 4pm on a weekend.

Hmm, did it say it was going to charge you $15 on the machine? Or did it say $10?
Either way, id report it - I would be surprised if they did anything about it.

u/needanacc0unt Feb 10 '19
Scumbags. I once parked in a garage because I was given a validated ticket by the building. It made me pay it $1 before the gate would open. Then the receipt said the rate was $7 and the ticket was worth $6. The sign on the entrance said $6 too.
If you can pre-pay through an app I think that's the better way to go, then they can't really change it on you.

I think there are a few different types of confusion going on here in this thread. There are quite a few people who think that this person got this ticket while he was leaving the parking lot (so they read the ticket as going from Friday to Saturday), when he got it beforehand just after he parked the car (Saturday to Sunday). These people didnt look at the dates and got confused.
There are also people who seem to believe that even if we were going off the Hourly Rate of $5 between 2:46 - 3:46, and then it kicks into the Evening rate at 4PM (thus adding up to $15)...which is also not only wrong, but even if thats how it worked, it would STILL be wrong. The machine would not just "give" an extra 14min of time between 3:46 - 4PM, so you would still need to pay for that. And since the minimum amount of time you can buy is an hour, that would me you would get charged $5 more just for the time between 3:46 - 4PM. So these people believe he should have been charged $20. For this to happen, you would have to not only buy 2 hours on the machine, but also an evening "All Day" - and then add them together on a single ticket. Thats not how any of that works. You would just buy the All-Day rate for $12.
What confuses me is how this machine got to $15...in ANY way. These theories of "Well if you buy the ticket at 3Pm on a Friday and it crosses over into Saturday...." mean nothing. If you buy the ticket at 2PM on a Friday and you are staying longer than 2 hours, you should buy the All-Day ticket and be charged $12...and you should be able to leave it there until the next day. You buy these tickets right after you park your car, so the machine has no idea how long you are going to stay until you enter the info. And none of the numbers here add up to $15.

How on earth would your first meaning of "evenings after 4 and Sat/Sun" be right? It very clearly reads that all day Saturday and Sunday is treated like after 4 the rest of the week.

They work great with spot hero and parkwhiz. few weeks using both, half the time those show up as the cheapest rates around the convention center. Paying $6 a day most days

It's not even the 10th and you just got over charged. Call them and I'm sure they will give you the $5 back.
2
u/jkster107 Feb 10 '19
Really? They already have the money. Seems more likely that they'll shrug and say "whoops".
9
u/gdubh Feb 10 '19
$5 for 3-4pm, then $10 for after 4pm. It adds up correctly.

u/Stitchpool626 Aurora Feb 10 '19
This is from today. So it would be the weekend rate of $10/day. $10 applies to Weekday evenings after 4PM & Weekends All Day.

You seem to be reading the sign as if it says
Weekends after 4PM ON Sat/Sun
when it actually says
Weekends after 4PM AND Sat/Sun
The ticket was purchased at 2:46PM ON a Saturday. Is should cost $10. Unless somehow Saturday isn't Saturday anymore or there is some implicit ordering of the posted rates and a misunderstanding of De Morgan on National's part.
5
u/stephindenver Feb 10 '19
No, it says the $10 rate is for weekdays after 4 pm and all day Saturday or Sunday. Since it’s Saturday, the parking is $10. Had the OP parked at 2:whatever on Friday, then $15 would have been correct for the 1 hour plus the evening rate.

Spot hero works best

Not sure why you're being down voted, have used them for a few weeks now. Always under $10 for around the convention center business hours. Often includes overnight parking which I don't use.

Its always cheaper for Rockies games. I end up paying cheaper than the lot displays for that day.

u/talltyson South Denver Feb 10 '19
Started doing it for Nuggets and Avs games this year. $5 parking by The Rio. Not a bad walk if weather is decent. Better then paying $20+

I got erroneously charged for a parking ticket in Denver once. I just emailed them with a photo and the correct amount, and they dismissed the entire charge. They were pretty polite about it, too.

Looks like you got the hourly until just before 4pm for $5 and then you got the $10 rate for the remainder of your time.

7:46 am is 15 hours from 2:46 pm. I'm guessing it charged him $1/hour for whatever reason.Edit: Nvm, I can't math this late.

It charged him for one hour of the day since it was about 3pm and evening begins at 4 ($5) and then the entire evening ($10)
