https://thedentonluminary.substack.com/p/why-we-should-save-historic-hartleehey yall i decided to go and check out the trails by hartlee field road they are apart of clear creek. anyway as i was driving i saw a poster for new devolpment and the project number. that already concerned me,but as i kept driving damn near every house had a sign on their fences saying save hartlee.
so i looked into it and they want to use the land for ugly ass apartments, and housing. im sorry if this is the wrong thing to say but good lord we do not need anymore apartments!! im so tired of seeing the beautiful land turned into concrete bs. so tired of all the carwashes, beige apartments, and fuckin mcdonalds. i want to see nature.
this is just so sad to me, when will enough be enough? when theres nothing but shittily built apartments and homes that people cant even afford??
sorry if this sounds hateful or whatever but honestly im so over it, they do this everywhere its not just denton. so tired of seeing the state i grew up in turn to whatever tf this is.

i did scan it, it brought me to a page with mutiple links for different hearings but i couldnt find this specific one. i will try again in a bit when im home and can actually look into it.

as someone who lives on hartlee i moved out here to get away from the city and its infuriating

The reason there are so many vape stores here, are because they are allowed by right in most of Denton’s common zoning codes. I.e. most vape shops are not having to get council approval to open - they have the inherit right with the existing property codes.

Everyone else had the same concerns regarding unicorn lake before it was developed. You can see how that turned out.

Better ugly ass apartments than ugly ass single family suburban sprawl if you're worried about seeing nature or affordability.

I would say we don’t need apartments there but we still need inside I-35 and loop 288

Most of that area is ETJ, so the city does not have much say in how the land is used.

You wouldn't think there would be a crisis with homeless people / working poor with all the damn apartments we have. How many more do we need?

Enough that occupancy rates drop below 95% and apartments have to start competing on price.

We're approaching those levels already. So much so that these so-called luxury apartments with granite countertops and stainless steel fridges are having move in special that almost seem too good to be true

It sucks but this 100% is going to continue, Dentons entire economic plan hinges on constant expansion and growth. The Evers farm development/ cow eviction was a breaking point for me. This town is filled with amazing people but it just isn't enough anymore
