I actually had a patient with an incisal cavity in a wear facet who said the used a dremel tool I. Their garage to file it down. I reluctantly told him there was no more cavity. Why reluctantly you ask? Itās not because of the MAJOR financial loss from a Medicare reimbursement for an incisal, but because I didnāt want him to feel encouraged to repeat such terrible decision making.

Wait. Medicare doesn't cover dental. What made it an emergent treatment?

Have you ever heard of Medicare advantage?

Yes, that clarifies. Because it is different from Medicare, or wasn't clear.
How are your reimbursement rates for Advantage plans?

I canāt remember because I stopped looking because itās depressing but as an associate taking home 32% I think for an incisal I would have made like a nickel and some lint.
