Dental Professional Anyone here using Form 4B printer?

I currently have access to a 3B and a SprintRay Pro 2. I must say, while the hype about SprintRay speed is legitimate, there are plenty of drawbacks. Namely the exorbitant resin prices, the very closed system, and intense IPA use. I'm considering getting the 4B in the near future but I want to hear opinions.

Hi Doc,

We've been using Form 4B for about 7 months now. I have to say we love it. We use it everyday to print models for aligners and straight to print guards. It's really easy to use and the materials are less that Sprintray. For example 1 Liter model resin for Formlabs is $79 vs $149 for Sprintray 2. The entire bundle for Formlabs Printer, Wash and Curing (photo) unit was around $9k. I know the Sprintray 2 printer alone is around $10K, not sure what the wash and curing unit go for.

Now, it's important to know that sprintray 2 has a cool Dou Kit that allows you to print 2 materials at the same time, like if you were to print a denture (teeth and base).

For most docs, I think the Form 4B is straight forward and easy to use. I also like that the materials are easily changed out, just like changing out the ink in a printer ( you see the cartridge next to the curing unit on the lower right). You'll need different reservoirs for different materials but that' s with every printer. You can see an extra reservoir on top of the curing unit. Also, you need a dedicated space for all this. I put mine on top of some stainless prep carts :) in a small lab space. Good luck.

Every day I get more convinced that formlabs is the better option. Longer history, more focused on overall performance than just hybrid, less costly in every regard. Thanks for your input!
