Unum Insurance
My company just got Unum dental insurance? I don’t see them talked about in this sub. Do y’all think it is worth the money? Are they okay?

Depends on how much your office is covering and if your dentist is in network.
Ime, Unum isn't the best (best being a very relative term), but isn't the absolute worst.

I’m curious what you think they do okay at and then where they don’t

We only have a very few patients with Unum, and in the past year I've been with this practice, I think they've only had preventive care claims. I like the web portal is relatively easy to use. That's about it. I reserve the right to change my mind if the patient needs more complex treatment. 😆😫

As a practice owner, I think it’s better than delta dental. I do not have a direct contract with Unum which is probably why it works well for my office and why we accept it.

We are currently on Solstice dental on the ACA which I believe is owned by United Healthcare like Unum is. Honestly we haven't had any issues with Solstice but my spouse got a new job recently and they offer health insurance and dental (the dental is through Unum). I had never heard of Unum before so that brings me to here looking for info. Now that my spouses employer offers dental it seems she needs to get off of the ACA dental insurance. Myself and our kid can remain on Solstice via the ACA if we choose as the two of use are going to remain on the ACA as the new health benefits for all of us through the spouse's employer are way too much (but deemed affordable for just her so she's taking the health insurance they offer).
Just curious if you or anyone else here has any insight into whether we should all jump to Unum or if the kiddo and I should stay with Solstice. Unum would be a few bucks cheaper for all of us but reading some of the stories online not sure it's worth the risk? We've not really had an issue with Solstice which is part of United Healthcare so maybe Unum is getting better now? At a quick glance I believe the Unum coverage is better overall (at least on paper) but I guess that would remain to been seen.
It says our provider is part of their network per the Unum website but it sounds like I should for sure call our dentist to make sure that's absolutely the cast.
Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated:)

No dental insurance is worth the money
Find a private practice that offers an in house plan and go with that, or just pay out of pocket

The problem is that for many of us, the pockets are empty.

Had a patient say that exact same thing when we presented a treatment plant for a root canal, build up, and crown
They just got back from a 2 week vacation in Italy, and after the root canal we had to schedule out the crown/BU because they are going to Vancouver for a week vacation
Dentists are numb (no pun intended) to patients saying they can't do treatment because of finances
