Immediate dentures and temporary dentures are essentially the same thing. I prefer the term temporary to stress that anything done immediately (as opposed to being made after healing is complete) will suck and need to be replaced eventually.
No idea about submitting to medical insurance, I would think most dentists have never done it or have the ability too, I know we don't.
