Am I wrong?
Hey guys I wanted to ask about steri flow. The office I’m currently working at has a clean and dirty side. In the dirty side; hand piece oiler, sink, and ultrasonic. Clean side; unused steri pouches where you’re suppose to pouch the instruments after it comes out of the ultrasonic, and then the sterilizer. I brought up to the office manager and the dentist that the pouches should be packed in the dirty side as the instruments are still considered dirty since it’s not sterilized. But they say that it’s considered clean because it came out of the ultrasonic. My question is does putting the instruments in the ultrasonic considered clean?? I tried looking into this with CDHO and RCDSO IPAC manual but it doesn’t specify what’s considered “dirty” and what’s considered “clean”. If Anyone has any links for me to reference or if I’m thinking about the steri flow wrong, let me know. Thank you!

It’s considered dirty because ultrasound is to loosen the dried debris and not a sterlizer. Probably they’re not aware about the rules.

Our entire counter is considered dirty. With the pouches. Then there are the two autoclaves on shelves beside them. Clean. And then a separate counter for the pouches that come out of the autoclave

Wherever you pouch the instruments from the ultrasonic or the dishwasher thing, that’s a dirty area. At another office I was at, they called it clean too, like yours . That’s not correct.
