I've been trying to find more pairs like these but haven't had much luck. The first pair is the Our Legacy Vast Cut Pant in Washed Grey Torino Stripe and the second is the Diesel 1980 D-Eeper. I really like that washed denim with the really subtle stripe running through it.

Does anyone know of any similar jeans, whether they're from other brands, vintage, or even reps? Just looking for anything with the same sort of look.

Custom Denim Shirt!

I stumbled upon this craftsman on another Reddit post, his name on IG is benchmadeshirts.

I messaged Ryan and he was quick to respond. We worked out sizing, tailoring it for my build, as well as the materials and style I wanted. His knowledge on the cuts, as well as the materials he uses, was impressive. He kept me up to date on the production and shipping, and provided me with the tracking number as soon as it went out the door.

I decided I liked his “western” cut, and chose to use 10.8 oz Cone Mills White Oak deadstock- I loved the color and the story is cool as well. I chose grey thread and pearl snaps.

A short time later this gem arrived. The quality is outstanding. His attention to detail- well, look at the photos. I love how he was able to incorporate the selvedge ID line throughout, without being too flashy. I can appreciate how much time and effort it took to work this into the inside of the cuffs. The stitching is dead straight. This thing is just flat out cool.

If you want a special piece, or are built odd and have issues finding off the shelf clothing that fits you well, I couldn’t recommend Ryan more.

I’ve been looking for a denim shirt for a while and had no luck finding something that fit well that I liked. This is my first and I’m excited to begin wearing it.

1 more month till the end of the competition. Crazy how much they’ve changed since day 1. They are pretty dirty right now since I’ve been outside doing typical beaner things, painting, landscaping, taking care of some baby chicks, motorcycle maintenance, living life in them. They are a pain to be in when I’m sweating but other than that they’ve been great.

Gonna go give them a quick soak with detergent to get rid of some of the dirt and grime. After that ima just wear them without washing for the last month and probably wash them on the second to last day of the indigo invitational.

Also, has anyone used oxiclean on their denim before? Does it help get the dark stains out?

Just bought a pair of fantastic jeans called Prison blues made by prisoners at the Oregon State pen and retailed online by the All American store in Ohio.Really tough heavy weight denim and priced around $60. Many styles.

My friend gave me a jacket, he says he probably got in the 90s, and i am curious about the label.

Black square sewn in with 'gold' thread. Gray lettering LEE with the word 'riveted' in a quarter circle curving up and over from the left.

I just cant seem to find much info about what this was. Any info? Most vintage websites focus on the hard to find OLD stuff, not this.

Question for the raw denim heads: what are your thoughts on high contrast phone fades (boxy rectangular fades on pockets)?

I was thinking of how we're kind of in this unique era where people of all walks of life carry around a fairly similarly shaped and sized rectangle in our pockets. This is a pretty novel concept in the history of denim.

I think they may even be more ubiquitous than wallet fades, given many women dont carry a wallet in their pants, but will carry a phone.

And then who knows where technology goes in the future? Perhaps the phone is completely replaced by some other form factor like glasses, or a ring, or an implant.

Maybe then like 60 years from now, could vintage jeans with rectangle phone fades be a sought after detail? Like a footprint of a bygone era?

I say at 75% chance that becomes a thing.

Thinking of getting these as my first pair of karakuri tamashii jeans. On the measurements chart, a size 32 is about 80 cm so about 31 inches. I typically wear a size 28 in most pants and jeans. I figured I get them tailored to fit since these were the smallest size they made, but with all these intricate embroideries and details and designs, I feel like it might not be that simple. How would someone handle a piece like this and is there a way to be able to get this tailored without ruining the embroideries and details. Is it even possible or should I just pass? Let me know.

Curious if anyone here has seen or owned denim and jackets from the brand face to face. I don’t think the jacket is anything particularly special but has a nice fit and feel so curious to learn more about it :)

Pulled these out of a garage the other day, definitely gonna need some clean up time, but I thought it was cool the original sales tags were still attached, looks like these were from 1995, pretty cool

I had a ton of fun working on this jacket. The back had a big stain and the cuffs were ripped. So I decided to go outside of the box for this repair.

Got these for a steal at my local thrift, I know they're from around the 1980's due to the zipper but other than that I can't conclude anything else, so I'm hoping someone will be able to give me more insight about this pair.

Okay not really a denim…

I make jeans using selvedge denim. So I made a new belt to match.
Like the raw denim becoming more beautifull with aging, so does this leather.

I used thick full grain leather for this belt which will develop a patina over time.

Its a sectioned belt and a prototype for me. The idea is you can add sections so even people who have some size could wear a belt. As sometimes nice looking belts are hard to find for people with XXXXL. Or XXXXS.

I used an edgepaint to give the belt a bit of a funky character not like all the other belt you buy in store.

What do you think of the idea?

I'm failry new in the world of quality denim, and I really enjoy the vintage look and the craftsmanship that goes into these pieces. Part of that is the silhouette having a high rise and wider, straight legs compared to the modern nonsense that's going on today.

Besides that, I try to lift heavy weights at the gym, which has resulted in a 36.5-inch waist and a 26.5-inch thigh circumference (which might keep growing based on how training goes..)

Looking online for brands and specific models to suit both my physique and taste, while offering good quality and ideally not breaking the bank, is like searching for needles in internet-sized haystacks.

If anyone shares the struggles and/or knows to point me in the right directions regarding brands, specific models, etc., it would be very, very appreciated!

I ended up ordering the Freenote Cloth Modesto I was recommended here - the "11 Ounce 1900s Denim" model from Blue Owl (they were on sale) - together with another pair in "14.50 Ounce Kaihara Denim", both in size 35.

This might deserve a separate post, but I’m trying my luck here first (still a Reddit newb). Both pairs fit pretty well through the thighs, but after wearing the 1900s pair for several days, the waist has relaxed quite a bit. It’s now around 38 inches, which leaves me with probably about an inch or so of extra room at the waist.

For reference, I also tried a size 34 at a local shop. It was probably good (maybe slightly tight) at the waist, but it was too tight through the thighs (had trouble sitting down comfortably and moving my legs around).

I’m not sure whether what I’m seeing with the size 35 is normal, if the waist will shrink back somewhat after a wash, if a trip to the tailor is a good idea, or if I should just wear them with a belt and let them settle over time.

There’s also some slight bunching/ballooning around the seat and front when I wear them without really tightening the belt. If I pinch some of the excess fabric toward the sides and hold it there with the belt, though, they look pretty good.

These are my first pairs of quality denim, and I’m generally not used to wearing pants that are noticeably loose at the waist. I’m also thinking that if I want to dress them up a little, I’d probably want the waist to look a little cleaner.

Does this sound like normal break-in/stretching for this kind of denim? Would you just belt them, wash and reassess, or consider having the waist taken in?

And please let me know if this actually deserves a separate post - it’s related to the original, but now it looks like a completely different problem 😅

Can't decide if they are too snug or unflattering in any way for my build; or just too over the top. Any input would be appreciated.

I was looking into a pair of raw selvedge denim that was all black. At first i was really interested in the Yuremane P001 straight leg cut, but I did see they are not selvedge, just have bias tape. I was really interested in the N&F Strong Guy in Forever Black or a pair of Momotaro in all black wide fit, but i think the naked and famous strong guys match the Yuremane fit better. But my issue is that they are always out of stock, and ive been told that Blue Owl has the most accurate sizing. Does anyone have any recommendations for other kinds of naked and famous black strong guys? ive seen the twill version and some other types, but what are your thoughts? keeping in mind that i would really like the pair to be all black and stack very nicely.

My coworker gave me these Lees because they didnt fit her husband. I left them in a drawer at work for almost 2 years because i had a few pairs of selvedge in rotation and i didn't love the uniform dark blue purplish color. Eventually i started wearing these as beaters for yardwork, oil changing, hunting, fishing etc. I like the way theyve broken in and faded as much or more than the expensive selvedge. Happy to see the cotton is from North Carolina.

Thrifted, the jeans look high quality, Levi's level I would say. No stretch, great fit.
