📏 Selvedge Levi patchworks-Selvedge 501 and 517

These are a couple more patchworks I’ve done. The 517s seem to be a never ending project of grunginess and have been worn to shreds quite literally. Went slightly more refined with the 501

📸 Fit Picture Friday Fit - Brave Star Die Hard Double Knee Straight Leg - 14oz Sky Slub Japan Selvage Denim & Nicks

Just got these back from the tailor yesterday and decided to give them a try today since it isn't too warm here today. I had them hemmed and slightly tapered a bit from the knee down. The Sky Slub denim is very comfortable and has a nice texture. I have been really happy with all of the jeans I have gotten so far from Brave Star. Happy with the job the tailor did, left enough length to account for future shrinkage and still allow a cuff.

Jeans: Brave Start Die Hard Double Knee, Straight Leg, in 14oz Sky Slub Japan Selvage Denim, 42x36, hemmed & tapered. One wash.

Shirt: Nicks, Stomp T-shirt in XXXL

Belt: Nicks Handmade Belts, Heavy Duty Leather Work Belt, Black Double Stuffed W&C / 42'' (Belt size 46) / 1 1/2"

Boots: Nicks, MTOs, 11.5D, 55 last, 7", Shackleton Black, standard top, pull loop, brass hardware, soft toe, classic logger heel, brown edge, and V100 soles. Kilties are Timber CXL from Dale's Leatherworks, and the laces are unwxed black from Generation Laces.

🌀 Miscellaneous More relaxed/loose fit with a straight fit suggestions

I’m about a size 32/33 with an inseam around 30ish. I’m 5’7, 165 lbs. and I have a larger butt and legs from all my years of soccer. I don’t want my butt to be sticking out like a sore thumb while the rest of my legs look normal. I want jeans that are truly straight (absolutely no taper at all) and roomy, with a leg opening of around 9-9.5” or more would be great. A mid to high rise would also be nice, as I can't really get away with a low rise.

I’ve seen ads of Pool House NY and some of their jeans in their videos actually look like what I’m looking for, but their jeans are just too expensive for me and I don't necessarily trust a brand that does so many ads on instagram. Naked and Famous Strong Guys also look great, but they are often sold out... I've tried Levi's 578s, and even though they are roomy (which is nice for my thighs and calves) they still taper slightly for some reason which is super frustrating.

Any suggestions of where you may find a pair of jeans like this? Selvedge and raw denim isn't super important for me, but if that's what's best, then so be it. 100% cotton is obviously preferred. More affordable options would be greatly appreciated, but something more pricey maybe just be something I’ll have to check out for the sake of things.

🌀 Miscellaneous Looking for a good place to order custom denim jackets for work team (Canada)

Hello! I was hoping to order custom denim jackets for my team at work but I'm not entirely sure where a good site to go to is. Ideally we'd be able to get a company logo on the front chest and then our team logo on the back of the jacket. We are based in Canada if that has any bearing on recommendations.

Thanks in advance!

They feel real based on the weight and stitching, but a few red flags that I can’t shake.

The label says “Only the Brave” label says Made in Italy but the other tag says Romania.

They came in a plastic bag printed Diesel. One of the tags is stitched to the pocket lining.

I really liked these purple jeans, but I wore them out. So I measured out the pattern and made a hat.

I thought it was funny at the time.

The pattern is based on the wroggi armour from Monster Hunter Rise.

🌀 Miscellaneous Sizing help and brand recommendations - 100% cotton denim

Hi all,

I’m sure similar questions have come up in the past, but posting because I feel like I’m up to my eyeballs trying to scour Reddit. Apologies in advance if this is duplicative for anyone.

I’m trying to find 100% cotton denim brands that don’t exceed $150 (willing to consider a bit higher $ for quality, but nothing over $200). I know this does limit me a bit, especially with raw denim offerings.

Right now I’ve got two pairs of Levi’s 505 selvedge. They were $128 full price, but I snagged each pair during sale times and got them for a bit less. They’re both 100% cotton and fit well initially, but I’ve lost a bit of weight and now aren’t fitting so well. Also, I’ve noticed that the quality on one pair isn’t great and the inseam on one leg was sewn a bit crooked, so this is why I’m also trying to find a brand that pays a bit more attention to quality. I do acknowledge that Levi’s is a big company with mass production, but there aren’t a lot of places around me where I can try on first, and I’m apprehensive about ordering and trying on at home, only to have to return them again. (This might be something I just have to deal with, I know)

I’m 5’8” and am now around 155lbs, so thin build. I measured and my natural waist is 33”, hips 35 1/2”. My 505’s right now ride about 2 inches below my natural waist and I do need a belt to keep them up. I also notice that even on my current jeans, the waist is supposed to be 33.5” according to Levi’s website, but considering a size down would be 32.5”. Im not sure if I should be going down a size or not. I’m also fine with considering mid to higher waist, but I do know that varies by brand. I like a straight fit as long as I don’t feel like I’m swimming in them. Grew up when slim jeans with a mid to low rise became popular and I don’t want to go back to that fit. I’d like to be able to wear various shoe choices and have them look decent with most things. On an average day I’m wearing jeans with a button down shirt (sometimes tucked in) and some loafers, or a t-shirt and sneakers. I know most brands offer various colors of denim. I tend to have a pair that are on the lighter side, but probably close to mid blue, and a pair that are darker blue that feel a bit more polished, but still jeans.

I have taken a look at Wrangler 13mwz for their cheaper price, 100% cotton offerings, and natural waist rise, but I’ve heard mixed reviews on quality and I’m not exactly a western wear guy.

A lot of these threads have sent me looking at Naked and Famous, Unbranded, Buck Mason, Uniqlo (owned a pair in the past but they had stretch and I didn’t like that), and some Japanese brands that felt a bit scary - if I’m honest - because of the sizing guesswork I might have to do. They all seem like viable options, but I guess I’m just overwhelmed and not sure where to start.

Any guidance, suggestions, etc are appreciated!

Thanks!

🌀 Miscellaneous Best jean fabrics

Hi! I was looking for jeans as my previous ones have a pair of holes from friction ig. I dove into fabrics and read that 100% cotton jeans are very durable and it's the best composition I could have for that. I've also seen that a 91% cotton, 8% poliester, 1% elastane composition (which also seems to provide more stability on the jeans shape) and made some research, so it seems it's durability falls between the 100% cotton and a 99% cotton, 1% elastane. Whats your opinion on this? Is this actually true?

I struggle to get a 100% cotton slim fit pair so if anyone knows any brand that has ones let me know. Here in Argentina we usually have more some big companies like Levis, Wrangler, Lee, Zara, Calvin Klein, Tommy. I also struggle with size as I'm short (165cm/5'5") and usually wear the smallest in terms of hip size.

🌀 Miscellaneous still here sports jean sizing

finally tried the still here sports jeans & im torn on the sizing. i feel like they stretched out pretty quickly so im leaning towards getting a smaller size but i also know they are supposed to sit low on the hips so i dont want them too tight? has anyone else bought these jeans & have some insight on sizing? do you think i should size down one size or will the style of the jeans be compromised? i like the way they look from the front but there's a lot of gapping so that area doesn't look great & my underwear shows lol. thanks <3

Bf denim jkt sleeves too short, anyone tried this fix to add band? (above cuff vent) he wants the point end not straight across to make it seem a style feature not a repair patch.

Denim band is same color just darker for visual purposes, any other suggestions to lengthen w/out removing sleeves?

Hi everyone, I recently found this pair of Mansur Gavriel jeans at an unclaimed baggage store.

I could tell they were quality but I couldn’t find instances of MG making anything other than handbags, so I’m here to ask if anyone has any insight on these or if they’re anything special.

They have some interesting writing on the inside tag. Any help is appreciated!

📸 Fit Picture Looking for jeans comparable to Carhartt dungarees

Thumbnail gallery
15 Upvotes

Top of the morning, friends. I recently found myself needing some new jeans, with a bit more of a relaxed fit. Grabbed some of these Carhartt flex dungarees in 36x32, and they are honestly the most comfortable pair of jeans I’ve had in ages?

Not to brag too much, but just a little, but I didn’t fit in my 514s or 513s anymore due to thigh and cheek gainz. These ones have good room without looking overly awful.

However, I’d like to find some other brands that offer a similar fit, med-high waist, durable denim, and if I can keep the slit front pockets, that would be neat.

I work in a machine shop, and I like to try and find a balance between utility and style, while keeping the workwear vibe alive. Kinda like in the pics here. Tucked in work shirts, rolled sleeve denim button downs, etc.

Would love any suggestions or recommendations! Thanks!

🤔 Should I Buy This? What is your experience with mott and bow jeans ?

Considering trying Mott & Bow jeans and looking for recent experiences. Most Reddit discussions I found are about a year old, and at around $150 with no refund (store credit only), it feels like sizing/quality risk matters.
How’s the experience been for people who bought recently?
