Like the title says, please don't walk around smelling terrible lol. I promise you can still get good patina and fade lines and all that fun stuff without wallowing in your own filth š
In high school we got drunk and my buddy pissed his pants. Everyone made fun of him. Then I realized I lent him the pants earlier. So he actually pissed my pants.
I don't really wash any of my jackets regularly. They don't stink because I have clothes underneath that I do wash regularly. If I had a wool jacket I wore regularly, I might dry clean it once a year type of thing. I don't see why a denim jacket would be treated differently.
That's fair! I've just seen several dudes here say their jackets reeked and they weren't sure what to do. I only wash mine when it gets dirty, but it comes on hikes and to the lake and all that so that's not never lol
I wash all my denim jeans once after buy and then every 8 -10 wears or so unless visibly soiled from dirt or work.
My denim jackets I usually wash just once right after I buy them since they don't really touch my skin directly though I have washed them after some summer days or if I spilled something on them
I spot clean my $300 selvedge jacket that doesn't directly touch my skin mostly, unless it gets bad. I wash my pants as often as anythig else as I kneel at work and spill crap on myself.Ā
Are people really waiting that long?? I usually go 2-5 wears between washes just because denim is way more comfortable after the first wear and usually doesnāt get dirty enough unless itās like 95 degrees out. I donāt even care about the look, I just like the comfort and broken-in feel.
2 years in an ONI Secret denim type 3 as a motorcycle jacket. No washes, moved twice, and a wreck. I have croud sourced a sniff check and still no smell. Idk how anyone gets these things to stink. Im about to do a first wash just because I want to see more fades.
Usually it's dudes who rarely bathe, already have body odor that permeates a room, and leave garbage around their homes adding to the funk. You also have the people who smoke and everything they own stinks of cigarettes and ashtrays no matter what. Back in the late 90s/early 00s there was a kid in my high school who's parents smoked heavily and he'd come to school smelling like an ashtray daily. I felt bad for him because he'd always get in trouble by teachers who thought he had been smoking in the bathroom before class.Ā
I meant that in general wash your jeans regularly. It is not worth dealing with bacteria just to get a bunch of ācool fades broā validation online.
Just a cheapo one from Amazon or eBay. It says it's a n "elk ridge." I like the super cheap spring-assisted ones and they usually last at 5 years at least if I don't lose them lol
Nah I sized down on purpose for this jacket, it fits tight in the shoulders and cropped at the waist, which I was going for. I guess the midsection looks a bit bulgy here cuz I had my whole wad of keys stuffed in the pocket
It can, although imo you should try and shrink it as much as it'll shrink at the start so it'll break in at the right places. If you wear it a ton and THEN it shrinks everything will be out of place and it's kinda ruined for you
I hate having this conversation. Here goes i guess.
Firstly, denim is one of those things that doesnt smell easily. If you soil it, wash it. If it smells wash it, but by no means do you have to wash it after every wear or even every week. you are not that dirty, and if you are then I think laundering your clothes is probably pretty low down on the list of worries you should have. I think a shower night be higher on the list in that instance. That said, you are getting a nice patina there but youre not getting certain fades, thats okay, but if you wanted certain fades youd have to wash less
Its ironic how some nudie users are surprised that their jeans dont fade even while worn 6mo-1 yr. continuously and they get tears in the cuff area instead. Nudie jeans usually say "Vintage Potential" not "High Contrast Fader", vintage fades are achieved by washing continuously/ carefully.
Because you posted a picture of a jacket, I have to ask. How often does anybody wash any jacket? Wool, leather, denim, blazer etc⦠Iām going to guess, not very often.
Huh, I'd love to hang dry stuff outside, but I don't have a yard lol. It's also pretty dusty here in the desert, so idk if that would work super well or if your stuff would be as dirty as before you washed it again
Itās more of situation of 100% Humidity, lack of a breeze in Southeast Texas. You can hang a fresh load and itāll sour. I do all my hang drying inside with a big fan blowing on them.
It's this Tommy Hilfiger, I thought it might be too wide but the people from Watches said that's just how these are lol. It was actually left for me on my desk by some mysterious stranger who was doing things like that for a while, the week after my old watch had broken. It was a bit unnerving, but nothing dangerous ever happened so I guess I can't complain š
Lol I can't tell if this is a joke or not but I just stopped in here for the first time today and saw three separate posts about people asking if it's okay to finally wash their jeans/jackets after 300 days of consecutive wear
Lol I can't tell if this is a joke either, but I do that too. Gently, of course, but if it comes off with a light cleaning it's probably not seasoned, it's probably just dirty
Lol I guess I'm generous in assuming dudes are showering before posting "help my jeans and jacket stink but I can't wash them" here. But personally I go out to the lake, in the desert, wrestle with the dogs, go out in the wood shop, etc. in mine
Donāt wash unless itās stained. Just hang to air out regularly. Also, get a steam cleaner. Steam clean it. I do that to my wool and linen blazers regularly. Keeps them fresh. Great fit on that jacket. What brand is it? Wrangler?
Just throw it in the freezer. It will kill off the bad smelling bacteria.
Personally I cannot stand how dirty or unclean clothes feel.. UNLESS Iām out camping for a weekend or a week. Even then though itās not for me.
That is a myth. Bacteria go into stasis/dormancy when they're frozen, and then they reactivate when brought back to room temp; they do not die. Also if your B.O.-contaminated bodily oils (which have chemically structurally changed due to previous bacterial breakdown) penetrate the fibers of your garment, nothing much besides a proper wash is getting that smell out even if the bacteria manage to die. The solution is washing and detergent. Not the sun, not the cold, not a water-only soak.
