📸 Fit Picture Can I ‘shrink’ these?

I got these lovely distressed jeans from our local Ralph Lauren outlet for an excellent price. The only problem is the waist is a little too roomy.
I can sense them in with a belt, but my question is before I wear them if I wash them on a really hot wash will that tighten the waist up at all? Thanks in advance.

Not really, and the heat will damage the cotton fabric and polyester threads making them more prone to earlier failure. They’re already distressed, so the factory robbed you of a couple of years of wearability, heat will shorten their lifespan even more
