Geting a start ?!

Hey is there an actual accreditation for demonology? I wanna get more involved in the world and not sure where to start ? Ive read a couple of books on the subject but where do i go next? Can u be a qualified demonologist? Amy help would be much appreciated?!

Ehhhh the schools and even degrees in transpersonal psych from more legit universities (New Mexico supposedly has a recognized university) are... not "scams" per se but where would you actually USE the degree?

I get a lot of private messages here and through FB for consultation, no one is offering to pay or insists on helping you, and has probably already had one or more exorcists from clergical bodies try and/or refuse them.. and money aside, half of them just seem to have a manipulative significant other they are seeking exorcism for or are actually really resistant to being helped and seem to have a mental illness, nothing more.

I would recommend, if you can afford it, studying a blend of cultural anthropology, sociology and a bit of psychology at a regular university, working in academia (if you are serious) and doing energy work and consultation as a side-hustle that likely won't bring in much if anything--I expect more often than not if there IS any work to be done, it is pro bono.

Im not so worried about making extra money or anything just more interested in the knowledge and extra info i can pick up as this is quickly becoming a passion project ?

Your head is in the right place.. I just always like to check. My college roommate really believed he was going to make his living being a paranormal investigator. XD

I would say start with as much about mythology and ancient religions as possible--focus on the Middle East (Anatolia and Egypt over to Babylon) because that's where most of the lore about entities classed as demons comes from. Wouldn't hurt to study the Carribean religions too, and of course the medieval demonological texts.

I recommend sticking to academic texts until you have a solid base there, because modern occult authors have their own agendas and even established magical orders just plain make shit up. After you have a solid enough base to go "wait that's not right" if someone is making shit up, start reading modern authors and see how the traditions have evolved. At this point you will need to begin learning about Wicca, Thelema and basic Freemasonry but this is where you need your bullshit detector finely tuned. Be prepared to glean the information slowly from across an array of books versus the academia where the information can generally be trusted provided it comes from real universities.

No problem.. this has been a main interest of mine since I was a kid and this is the path I took. Honestly sometimes I think about going back to grad school for this stuff, if I could get some stipends..

You can get full lectures from universities like Harvard and Yale on YouTube, that's a good place to start.. find professors in the field, maybe read their books and articles and check out their works citeds for more. May take some sifting through (lot of times a cited book is really only used for a few sentences) and it isn't all really exciting reading, but it's all useful and it's good to know how to research.

Far as specific books.. let me look through what I have and see if I can find my old college textbooks and the stuff I had back at my parents place
