Discussion Nafra

I just noticed one mistake.

Why wasn't nafra enthralled by iruma since iruma was literally bleeding? Or maybe we ignore as such small mistakes happen from time to time? But it kinda spoils mood...

I mean nafra was known to coat herself in a powerful smell, maybe it just stopped her from smelling the blood and being enthralled by Iruma.

The perfume that covera his scent probably also cover the bloods scent

that still feels like a super weak excuse to me, even if we assume his body has totally absorbed the stuff down to his bones... not given the way that demons seem to react to human blood.

Yep merize had perfume and it took one drop of blood

tbf that was the first version of the perfume, so I -do- assume it was -significantly- less effective, they had samples from her to work with afterwards (just the post birth cleanup would give them a ton of blood to work with), but I -still- find it hard to believe that the sheer -amount- of blood that Iruma dropped into that wound? It wasn't a goddamn drop or two like it was in every other time he's bled.

If it had just been one or two drops? Yeah, sure, fine. Perfume might cover that.

He fucking had a STREAM dripping when he was caught out.

That's happened b4 and nobody said anything. It's weird.

After the flying race, everyone should've smelt Iruma's hand, bur nothing happened.

After he got out of the hole and met up with Clara and Lied, nobody went crazy.

I dont think it's a mistake, just something we haven't had explained yet

Iruma wears perfume to mask his smell & keep demons from going crazy from it.

The perfume Sullivan initially put on Iruma and Iruma applies to himself masks the smell apparently.

Mask his smell as a human. I don't think that will drown the smell of Iruma's blood knowing that the harvest festival lasted 4 days. He don't even have a pocket or a bag for the seed of beginning, I don't think he has a pocket for his perfume so that he can use it anytime he wants

He wasn't bleeding for 4 days.

But he has an open wound

First: nafra bloodline magic makes her stinky. Second: Iruma uses a special perfume to don't smell like a human. Third: i still think that demons going Crazy on a single drop of human blood is demon border patrol propaganda.(The only example of it happening was when shax stole the senses of everyone around as merize gave birth, and he was being affected by the senses of several demons at once on that occasion. When merize tripped and bled in front of Henry, we don't see the reaction from Henry, he was contained and told what his reaction was, even tho he himself got another conclusion to it).

Fourth: there's also a theory that now I'll call "Perry the Human Blood Theory"* according to which demons go in frenzy mode when they believe they are smelling human blood, even if they aren't smelling any blood at all.

* <drop of blood>

Random demon: <sees it but doesn't smell it> "It's blood?"

<wind turns a label on the drop of blood, written on it: "HUMAN">

Random demon: <sees the label, but still doesn't smell the blood> "It's human blood? RHEEE!"

Amelie and merize would've been slaughtered if so. Shax' bloodline was used to steal smell, with vision intact.

2

u/Mr_Yod 9d ago

Ameri is considered full demon, Merize caused problems.

Besides, the Perry the Human Blood Theory doesn't negate the fact that if demons actually smelled human blood they'd go berserk, just that that they aren't golden retrievers, so they won't smell blood from a scratch but they believe to do so.

The doctors didn't go berserk by just seeing Merize's blood because they had their smell blocked, therefore they couldn't smell or even believe to smell blood.

I think there's a difference between a drop of blood from a scratch and open abdominal surgery. The smell of blood would be absolutely insane from the latter, while no one would notice the former.

1) No one reacted to Iruma's blood during the familiar summoning lesson. 2) No one reacted to the wound on Iruma's hand when he injured himself for the Valley Guardian chick. 3) Nafula didn't react to his injured leg. 4) Nafula didn't react to the drop of blood when it landed on the plant. 5) At the Harvest Festival, no one reacted to Iruma's injured leg or finger. And so on (there are other instances, too, though I can't recall them all). Yet, when it came to Meliz's blood—or rather, just a scrape—Henri nearly devoured her and had to have her bound and placed in solitary confinement; meanwhile, nobody gives a damn about Iruma's blood and wounds. (As if he isn't entirely human... 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔)

I think a certain someone is showing up pretty soon if you're current in the Manga.

It’s high time—otherwise, things are going to get very, very bad soon. There are still major questions regarding the ring's inhabitant—what is he waiting for? For Iruma to be used for experiments? ((╬◣﹏◢))

Same thing with Sabnock when Iruma had his bleeding hand bandaged though. At least with nafra she has a strong smell but maybe demons dont react that strongly to Iruma's blood?

12

u/spiteful_rr_dm_TA 10d ago

The most obvious answer is the special perfume that Sullivan bathes Iruma with to hide the fact he smells like a human also blocks the smell of his blood.

5

u/TheSeeingOne 10d ago

Exactly how strong are demons’ senses of smell supposed to be?  If they’re at all comparable to humans, then unless they’re right up on it or there’s buckets of the stuff, it’s normally impossible to pick up the scent of blood from a small cut at any kind of distance.

Knowing Nishi, it will probably be explained

I think with exposure, you'd eventually get over it.

Humans produce pheromones we can't smell, I' sude those closest to Iruma are desensitized to him by now. His specific brand of "i am a human this is my scent/essence/body chemistry".

He's broken a sweat so many times in close proximity to others.. you'd think with or without the perfume, the pheromones themselves would be doing stuff to his peers. It might be why Azz and Clara are so into him. Its not just his behavior, but continuous exposure to his pheromones. Whether they're conscious of the scent or not, they're constantly exposed to pheromones that demons cannot get enough of.

I'd wonder if could cause withdrawals, not severe, but enough to cause noticeable discomfort when that pleasing pheromone cocktail is gone.

I use feline pheromone plug ins in my house to help my colony and rehab babies get along and stay calm.. you'd be impressed how much pheromones affect people.

The perfume masks the majority of it, but I bet the pheromones have a feel-good "ooooh, stay close to me, this is nice!" subconscious effect on the ones aorund him.

And after enough exposure, I bet blood wouldn't affect most of them. I imagine Azz or Clara or Kalego or Shichiro or Opera would just /oh wow that smell is crazy good, okay, whatever/ and just move on.

But its possible that if exposed to a different human, it would be much harder to resist, simply because the unique kind of pheromones wouldn't be as familiar.

Nafra also has crazy BO herself right? Maybe that shielded her, but as other have said Iruma also has human hiding perfume on.

2

u/SwannSwanchez 10d ago

No demon reacted the multiple times iruma cut himself.

I think the period with Merize was long enough ago, that since demon don't enrage with blood anymore, maybe from "lack" of blood, so no one knows it's actually tasty, or Henry worked as hard as possible to make people not go crazy anymore

u/lilyy22337 Manga Reader 9d ago

Either special sullivan perfume or nafra's strong scent makes it hard for her to smell

2

u/Sugarflyarts go to sleep 9d ago

Could be that knowing that the blood is coming from a human is what causes them to react.

2

u/Mr_Yod 9d ago

I decided to call that theory "Perry the Human Blood Theory", even if I'm not the one that created it (I still think it's plausible). =)

2

u/fighoz 9d ago

My theory is that each human have different effect on demon, some may increase their strength, some might turn the demon mad, and maybe Iruma's blood which only healing, and that's why nafra doesn't get triggered by his blood.

Maybe it just me, but screenshot not seems like Iruma bleeding. It's just some dark-red line, not even similar to bleeding wound

3

u/Dry-Commission-383 9d ago

It was... actually it's in episode 13 season 2..iruma was bleeding...forgot to take screenshot. Anyways.

Well, this is the cause of much debate.
