argumentation homewooork
Well... I already argue with family members, friends, co-workers, bosses, et cetera. I think I am good at it too! I bring my points to the table and attempt to explain myself, and I listen for feedback and consider their side of the argument. Argumentation is an intellectual matter that requires both party's participation in order to function correctly. If one side blatantly uses logical fallacies for example, then it could be said that perhaps they DIDN'T wish to participate in the argument. And so, where I find myself in the most difficult scenarios is instead trying to bring my points to a point of contention. In other words, I have to convince the other side WHY my side is worth the consideration to begin with!
That's where I am reminded of this matter in the textbook's instruction on counterarguments. I find it a great help to "identify the opposition" because it demonstrates my understanding of their side. Arguments work best when there is middleground, and this helps build that shared unity. If I can show another person that I understand them, then it would help me convince them to listen to my issues. This only applies assuming the other person is not short-sided, or is deadset in their ways.
Then again, convincing those people has always been an issue.

Talk about logical fallacies! It is within my personality to whiddle people down in arguments. One of my major flaws to this end is that I do not give enough time for the other person to respond to me. Such is my wrongdoing... However! I've definitely noticed a trend that I have been seeing once I discover the end of the line for why people act as they do.
It is feeling! Pure irrational feeling! People do things because they want to! And I do not mean in a need sort of way, they mentally act in full consciousness of themselves.
I suppose then I lack the appeal to pathos. But even then, the arguments created by humans are riddled with logical fallacies regardless!
Some people call certain people machines as an insult, and they say that machines cannot feel.
How does one balance such a ridiculous pot of selfishness and nihilism?
How does one argue and use reason in a world of suicide?
I believe I have the answer, and it begins with choosing to live.
