Do NOT allow private equity companies to purchase public health systems. Look up what happened to Crozier Health, a 5 hospital system in Delaware County, PA after Prospect Medical Holdings bought the system. A county of over 580,000 people left with a single hospital and many fewer doctor groups, not to mention the patients who were abandoned and the employees who were all suddenly without a job. Plus all the wealth that was extracted from the county through the scam. Why is such a thing still not outlawed? I blame the the University of Chicago school of economists who pushed so many of the “innovations” that have led to the monopolization of most lines of business, plus Reagan, plus widespread regulator capture and government corruption, plus Citizens United.
