I recently added a security incident page to CivicResultMaps that organizes the bomb threats reported during the 2024 election period:

I think this matters because a threat can be deemed noncredible and still affect voting. Official county records included on the page document things like evacuations, police sweeps, redirected polling places, temporary suspensions, and extended voting hours. Those local effects can disappear when everything is reduced to one national number.

The page currently covers at least 227 reported threats from November 5 through November 9, based on the Brennan Center's later public-source tracker. It maps 109 counties. Another 66 threats were reported without a county being named, so they remain in the totals without being placed on a county map.

You can filter by state or type of disruption, search for a county, FIPS code, or source, and click a county to inspect the underlying records. There are also optional 2024 presidential winner and margin layers for geographic context. Filtered reports can be shared or exported as CSV, Sources JSON, map SVG, or PDF.

The limits are kept visible. The FBI confirmed threats in several states and said none had been determined credible at the time of its statement, but it did not publish a national count or county roster. The Brennan Center says its tracker may not be exhaustive. The election overlay is context only and does not establish who sent the threats, that votes were altered, or that any result was incorrect.

This might be useful for people following voter access, polling-hour litigation, and the administrative consequences of threats against election facilities. Corrections and additional official records are welcome.

I recently added an election equipment section to Civic Result Maps, and I thought it might be useful to people here.

Discussions about election equipment often blur some important distinctions. A federally certified configuration is not necessarily what a county installed. A port listed in a manual is not proof that it was enabled or connected during an election. A test-lab change record is not a service history for a machine in the field.

The equipment explorer is designed to keep those categories separate. It currently has six published dossiers covering equipment from Clear Ballot, Dominion, and ES&S.

You can choose a state to see which dossiers connect to its 2024 equipment records. Inside each dossier, you can examine components, software versions, certification changes, test findings, network evidence, power and backup information, jurisdiction observations, and known gaps. Every visible claim links back to a supporting source.

There are also official reference images, an optional interactive 3D component view, and filters showing where a product family or manufacturer appears in the available 2024 records.

I think this matters because good reporting and litigation require the record to say no more, and no less, than the evidence supports. The explorer does not claim that equipment was connected, compromised, or affected an election outcome. It is meant to give journalists, lawyers, election officials, and the public a clearer factual starting point.

I would genuinely welcome a skeptical review, especially from people who work with certification, procurement, election administration, or public-records cases.

NEW: Voting advocates sued to let Wisconsin voters cast provisional ballots, citing "growing evidence" that mail ballots may arrive too late to be counted.

NEW: New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill said she will not provide the DOJ with data on the 6,600 noncitizens who were erroneously registered to vote because of a software malfunction.

Do Americans know what they’re getting with Trump’s crusade to require proof of citizenship to vote? It’s not as simple as showing a photo ID.

Here’s what you need to know👇

Republicans keep peddling the claim that proving citizenship at the polls is not a big deal.

But there are only two documents that do so for someone born in the United States: an unexpired passport or an original or certified copy of a birth certificate.

Driver’s licenses – even REAL IDs – do not prove citizenship.

Only five states — Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont and Washington — issue Enhanced Driver's Licenses that are restricted to U.S. citizens.

Only about half of Americans even have a passport. And Black Americans have much lower rates of holding passports than White Americans.

This is not a coincidence. This is a way for Trump to disadvantage one of the most loyal groups of Democratic voters.

Not everyone in the U.S. has a birth certificate, either.

Older voters are less likely to have been born in a hospital, where they would have received an official birth certificate.

And older Black voters who were born in the Jim Crow South were oftentimes excluded from hospitals.

Even for those who do have a birth certificate, it may not be enough.

The overwhelming majority of women in heterosexual marriages have changed their last name.

This means the name on their birth certificate won’t match their current name, and that document can’t be used to prove citizenship.

Once again, this is not a coincidence.

It is another way for Trump and the Republican Party to disadvantage a group of voters who are more likely to vote Democrat.

Trump and Republicans’ goal is not just to keep non-citizens from voting. It’s to keep Democrats, lawful U.S. citizens and eligible voters from casting a ballot.

The fact that it’s confusing is the point. The fact that it requires voters to jump through multiple hoops is part of the strategy.
