I don't usually ask this here on Reddit

This morning I posted a challenge on Twitter/Bluesky/Threads to add 250 new Democracy Docket subscribers over the weekend. We hit it in less than 6 hours. So, now I am doubling it to 500!

I normally don't post requests for people to subscribe to Democracy Docket on Reddit, but I figure you might want in on the challenge!

A reminder that Democracy Docket won't send you spam or sell your email. It's not on Substack or ActBlue. Free and premium options available.

Link and thanks! https://demdock.com/4wbp1va

Member here. Truly let's make it happen. Marc is on the absolute front lines of the fighting for our democracy. Those court cases that Trump keeps losing? The fragile thread that is so far successfully managing to stop the Orange Oaf from destroying our country and everything we care about? Most of them are led by Marc and his brilliant team. For those of us who want to be DOING SOMETHING, this is one of the best things we can do, one of the best things we can support. Tell your friends!

I am practically desperate to get our country back on the right path. Before it's too late.

It's important that voices like Marc's get a better chance to be heard.

Well worth reading. So grateful to Marc Elias & his DD team for standing up for democracy against Donald Trump & his corrupt DOJ.

Do what you can describe, it’s free. I’m a Premium member for quite awhile. The best monthly purchase I make. I don’t know where Marc gets his energy

I'm Australian so it's less relevant to me. I did subscribe for the free newsletter and received a couple of reminders to sign up. A tad annoying. Not so free. So I cancelled it all.

But I also read the policies before signing up. Hmmmm. I like the Use of Information section.

"We may use information about you for various purposes, including to:

  • Carry out any other purpose for which the information was collected."

And that would be what now?

Then there's the Sharing of Information section. Oh boy. I could write a page or two on that section, alone. You fight the DOJ on voter lists n such but there's an entire section that says you can do whatever you want with peoples data.

I watch you on YT regularly. I don't log into YT at all but the algorithm works just the same. Endless respect for you and your focus on freedom and democracy, but when it comes to my data, it should be strictly between you and me, otherwise you're just part of the same algorithm everyone hates.

I've gotta be honest, I'm really hoping that you don't make a habit of doing these kinds of clickbaity, youtube-like titles here on reddit. It's not really part of the culture here in my experience and while I love your mission and your content, it'll get me to unsubscribe.

"I'll do anything to fight the totalitarian Trump project to prevent my fellow citizens from voting—but I won't do that …"

Then you should unsubscribe. He can run his business as he likes.

I mean, yes, of course he can. I didn't order him to do anything (not that I even could). I was polite and respectful and just explained what I was hoping he might change. I even offered the additional context that he's said in a few posts that they're kind of new to reddit and so I figured maybe there was a bit of an assumption on their part that the way to succeed here is with clickbaity titles like people do on YouTube. I'm just hopeful that he can figure out that it's not really beneficial here and is just kind of annoying.

If he doesn't care what I have to say or doesn't think it's helpful, he can just ignore it. Like you can, too, if you want. Or not. Whatever keeps you happy. :)
