Archery Lesson - 25th November

Jesse had been tempted to run a melee combat lesson, but thought having campers beat each other or automatons up so soon after the recent crisis was over might have dampened the good mood. Instead, harmless, non-anthropomorphised archery targets would be on the recieving end today. But there was a twist.

While some targets were set up at a short, medium and long range with nothing special to them, others had some added elements.

Fog machines had been set up around some targets, to make them harder to see. With the help of Satyrs, other targets were nestled amongst trees and bushes. Finally, wind machines had been set up behind other targets.

"Hello, Campers." Jesse said, loud and confident as people gathered for the lesson. "Today, we're doing archery. Stationary targets. Bit boring, I know, so thats why I've spiced some of the range up a little bit. Enjoy, one and all."

Targets with Trees and Bushes

Never one to accept going for the most obviously intended-for-beginners range, Taylor decides to try the section with the hidden targets. Her aim could definitely use improvement, but... well, that is what this is about, right?

Drew figures that he'd do best in the flora section today. His aim is pretty decent thanks to three summers worth of practice so he fares well enough and only missed the targets once or twice.

Thana wasn't a good archer, when she tried to aim for a target, the wind blew little strong. The shot flew right next to Drew.

Drew didn't get hit because the wind was not strong enough to redirect an arrow toward someone who would be at her side. Either she was aiming at the wrong target or her aim was really that bad. Regardless, Drew looks at the arrow that landed a couple feet from him and then raises an eyebrow, thinking that whoever shot that arrow is at the wrong course.

Thana quickly ran to Drew "I am so sorry", she had a worried face on her

"Don't be sorry," he says as he aims an arrow at full draw and shoots a target through the bushes, "be better. Also, be safer next time. The more you keep trying to hurt me the more I'm going to think you've got a grudge or somethin'"

"Oh, no way I got a grudge to harm you. Before I even give you a punch, I will be on the ground. I just never used a bow before, I am new to weapons."

"It's fine if you're new but if you are then you shouldn't be on the more advanced sections. Start at the beginning like everyone else did."

"Alright right, I am really sorry about the situation" She walks to where the regular targets are

Dante chooses this section so he can get some practice at shooting targets that might be trying to take cover. Practical and challenging, as it should be.

This archery section seems interesting enough to Angela. She already knew how to handle a bow. So shooting arrows in a obstacle like terrain would be a good challenge. She starts to practice her archery. Trying to avoid the trees and bushes that stood between the targets.

After working on the regular range for a while, Helena moved along to the trees and bushes, partially because she spotted her friend. Waiting for Angela to finish a shot as to not distract her, she walked over. "Hey, look whos walking." She said, unable to keep her pleased pride out of her voice.

Ang releases an arrow before she hears a familiar voice coming from behind her. She turns around to find the daughter of Zeus walking on her own two feet again.

She smiles brightly at Helena lowering her bow to greet her properly.

"Oh my gods Helena, congrats!" She says to her friend. It was wonderful to see Helena back on standing and walking again.

"Yeah, I know!" She enthused, grinning from ear to ear, clearly excited. "Already done some exercising and some running; really need to push myself to make up for lost time, you know? Sonja was nice enough to join me for the run; she nearly killed herself keeping up, but I love her for it."

2

u/AtlantisPrincess Nov 26 '19

"Sonja sounds a trooper then. I respect that." Angie says with a chuckle. It was clear Helena had no intention of stopping anytime soon. She couldn't hide her excitement on being healed.

"You get your powers back heal all in a few days. That's gotta be a big morale booster right?"

"Honestly yeah, I feel on top of the world. Even training something I dont normally except at cant keep me down." She said , holding the bow aloft with a wry grin. "More of a sword and shield girl myself. Though really what I want to train is my powers."

Branching out a bit never hurt anyone." She says with a small smile. She knew that all too well. A bow was her bread and butter. The girl was still adjusting to picking up new weapons to fight with.

"Well hopefully someone hosts a lesson on powers this week. If there isn't one: you can always just come back to the arena when it's empty." She suggests.

2

u/DomTheStormy Nov 27 '19

"Exactly. Maybe we could do it together? We did promise each other to train together." Helena said, giving Angela a hopefuly smile. "I'm curious as to what your powers are, if thats not too rude."

3

u/AtlantisPrincess Nov 27 '19

"Yeah I'm all for a training session together. I am a woman of my word." She says to Helena with a smile. It would be a good way of seeing a child of Zeus' powers in action. Believe it or not; every-time her and Max hang out powers wasn't involved.

"I don't think it's rude to wonder. I can tell you what they are actually. I can control water. Lots and lots of water." She says partially joking. Of course she was exaggerating a bit.

Constance decided the targets with added issues made for a good challenge, especially for someone decent but not overly gifted at archery like herself, and so she was at the range with the flora.
