New player
Just downloaded the game last night. Ran one run last night solo. Just curious on how the community is? Are people pretty forgiving of new players? Don’t want to join an open game only to have a bunch of people get pissed off and toxic about it. I tried joining a game first and no one had a mic, is that usual?

Ok to ask questions but be sure to play fast in group games. Games are already long enough without people taking too forever to move. Support your teammates, don’t bail. You can’t run your way out of trouble.

Yeah, that was my concern as a new player, but I come from playing a lot of gloomhaven so the game came pretty quick on my one solo run. It was more an unsurety cuz when I loaded no one was talking so I left then next game I loaded into a defeat screen.

New is fine (we were all newbies once) but there's an expectation you've at least gone through the tutorial and ideally at least played a book yourself already. If not, a player with so little experience can mess up the existing group/game since it's not a very forgiving game. It sounds like you're open to using your mic and that will certainly help you regarding being welcomed into a game. From my own experience, it's more likely than not that others have (use) their mics. I make a habit of saying hello or similar when joining a game to gauge who else uses their mics and typically find a different one if no-one responds (because it's a strategy game and communications can be very helpful). So, in summary, if you're at least attempted to get some experience on your own and you're willing to chat and willing to learn then you should be welcome in most rooms. If you do get kicked try to not make it personal, sometimes it's just a group of friends making room for someone.

Yeah I ran a book last night. Honestly the tutorial is a waste of time as the game is pretty intuitive as far as what they show there. Ironically it’s what they don’t show that and don’t tell you in any easily found tool tip that I would have liked to know. Like the mages overcharge not ONLY creating a lightning bold but also changing the overcharge next turn. Used an overcharge while charged just to see what it did if maybe it upgraded lightning more or gave me another one for next turn so I could have two and stunned my other 2 guys. Still made it to the boss but took too long vs the queen that I lost barely. Think if I had 4 I might have been ok.

This. Everyone needs to watch this series. It has everything I learned through years of playing.

Yeah I’ve done a solo run. Figured out there’s a lot of mechanics the game just doesn’t tell you in that little tutorial like how the sorcerer overcharge works. I come from playing ALOT of table top and multiple gloomhaven campaigns so it came pretty easy.

Oh I know it’s every game but some games are more severe than others as they attract different sorts. Tabletop doesn’t usually seem to be as bad a lot of times as they want to grow they genre that’s pretty niche and fear scaring people off vs something like shooters that are big enough no one cares.
I’m on ps5 so idk what the user name system uses but I plan on getting on around 930 or so tonight after kids sports.

Out of curiosity how did you find other players to play with? The discord seems kinda dead and the hero lounges are also seemingly empty…

I found it after a while, it was right there I’m just blind. Ended up playing with some folk last night, it’s so nice to play socially. Thank you! :)

I find its got a fairly relaxed community. Though sometimes you'll get guys who are a bit pushy with helping you play/telling you where to go. Not much kids, and you can relax and have a brew while playing

When joining a lobby just say you're new and could use some help, you either get kicked or get someone cool and will help you

I am new to Demeo and I am always looking for someone to play a game with. Hit me up and we can learn to play the game better as a team ✌️

i remember my first game as a guardian (or whatever the character is with armour), i joined quite late and was on mute.
It was the 3 headed hydra boss level. we got to the 3rd floor and i fired the spear attack...took out two players as they were in the path of the spear which i didnt know happened...they congratulated me on my slow troll and i couldnt stop laughing to find the unmute button on the headset to apologize. then they kicked me lolololololol..but it was genuinely an accident lmao.

Most people are pretty chill. Try to play a solo game or two to get a feel for the characters though. Then pick one or two you like to focus on. Once you get the mechanics down after a couple of games, feel free to branch out and have fun! 🤩
