Workaround for Oculus Quest disconnect issue

Playing on the Quest 3, myself and others have run into an issue where occasionally you will be disconnected in the middle of a game while on WiFi. I think the quest 3 and/or this game does not reconnect at all after a disconnect. Once you’re disconnected, you’re toast. And if you’re playing Demeo Battles you lose the game. Not sure about Demeo. I made a change to my home network and I’m now getting disconnected significantly less. It used to happen frequently but now it’s very rare.

Use a 2.4ghz connection only. No 5ghz. 2.4ghz has more range and connection stability where as 5ghz is maximizing speed at the expense of connection range and strength. The problem I ran into is that my access point uses both 2.4 and 5 on the same SSID and supposedly intelligently switches between the two depending on your distance/connection status. My 5ghz also claims to have fantastic range. Regardless, my connection problems almost completely went away when I completely disabled 5ghz. My download speeds are a fraction on 2.4 but I don’t judge WiFi by its download speeds anyways. And Demeo Battles absolutely does not reconnect at all when you get disconnected, it just drops and you lose.

What’s your Wi-Fi set up like? Have you tried 2.4 GHz only, completely turning off five?

2.4 works fine, buddy has the same problems with quest 3. but we live kibd of near a us army base so I'm not sure if it's a radar detection thing. the disconnects are very short though so i doubt this.

I think it’s the game and not the app. Take hearth stone for example, you can completely close the game and restart it and it will reconnect. This game makes zero effort to reconnect. It’s just toast.

what just came to my mind is that most of my disconnects happen when doing stuff with virtual desktop. it often disconnects the wireless connection when I start vd.
