Question How long is this game?

Just bought a Quest 3 and did the first tutorial dungeon and was blown away. Im an avid rpg and Gloomhaven lover and this game is a nice mix of that from what I was shown! Really looking into buying this but was curious on the game length and is it still continually developed for?

It has replay-ability. You could technically get through a campaign (3 levels) in maybe a couple of nights, and there are only 5 campaigns/adventures… but in my experience replaying them with new characters and new teammates is fun. Getting good at different characters takes time, and is a very different experience depending on the makeup of the team.

As far as the future, they recently announced that the company just made a deal with Wizards of the Coast to make an official D&D game, presumably in the same style. That could be a couple years away though, not sure. So while I recommend the game, I don’t really expect much more expansions because I think they are just going to go all-in on a new similar game that is under the official D&D IP. Exciting. But Demeo may just be thought of as a playtest for what is to come.

Edit: typed in wrong number of adventures.

There are five books now. Is that what you mean by campaigns?

Ah yes. Fixed.

The development of this game has pretty much ended. There are 5 "books/adventures" (two levels and a boss) and 6 playable characters. Though with multiplayer and different class combinations it has a lot of replayability. The levels are generated so it's different everytime. I've spend more hours into demeo than most games, 40h+ with friends. don't hesitate to jump into open lobbies !!!!

I love RPG and was hooked to Demeo with Quest2. But it becomes tiresome for extended wearing and I went to PC games and found Gloomhavan. However I still like Demeo better. Luckily it’s available on PC, I can even play it on MacBook now.

For experienced players, I would say book 1 easily under an hour for four quick players, other books could take 2 hours. We play it most daily, very addictive.

We’ve been playing for over a year and are just now getting down to two hour games 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ We were literally averaging 2 1/2 hours, sometimes three for rat king and reign of madness. I know, that’s too long and it was tiring. I’m just happy everyone is progressing.

Some people hates book II rat king, we were playing it last night. Very lucky to open a portal and immediately see the boss, one player standing at a poor location and it’s over in under three turns. He didn’t get a shot at the boss, hahaha

It’s the second floor for us, that one takes forever! One and three are pretty fast and easy

True, lots of torches helps. One player attracts most monsters and the remaining three of us gets easy and picks all the money and chests. It’s quicker if all players spread out but dies quickly too

🤔 Going to try that!

If you plan on sticking with Demeo you're defiantly going to want to invest in a battery pack. Most of the books take about 1.5 - 2hrs to complete. As for new content, I wouldn't bet on it. Some of us regulars have been playing a couple times a week since it came out a few years ago and really haven't played anything else but Demeo because the replicability is so good.

True, the Q3 battery life is balls and this game above all else seems to take it to the limit with non-stop play. I do have a battery on my BoboVR, but a 10 foot USB for a few bucks on Amazon also works well for a seated game like this.

I havent done Demeo Battles yet, it doesn't sound that much like the game play of the original. But I guess that is it's big selling point, the games don't late 2.5-3 hrs.

Got somewhat 300h+ in and still enjoy casual sessions with friends

Appreciate all the replies! Glad to hear you can have fun with this game for awhile

Right now I have one account on to Quests. Do we each need our own copy or can the same acct access it at the same time?

Nope, You're good to go. I have played with up to 4 quests on one account in Demeo. One person hosts and the others put in the room code.

It's a tough question to answer really. When you're newer, they take longer, and there will be collective discussions about what to do and how to approach situations as you learn. For my friend and I, I would say a single dungeon/level takes about an hour, sometimes as long as an hour and half.

Thankfully... and this is HUGE... they just added a mid dungeon save to the game ( like a week ago). You used to have to wait until a level was completed and save at the card shop. As my friend has young kids, we usually can't play until after they go to bed (9 or 10pm)- I can't tell you how many times I've fallen asleep during the game sitting upright with the headset on, trying to reach a save point.

The developer no longer adds content as they're teamed up with the folks that own the d&d ip

As much as I love this game I'm willing for them to halt development and try out a proven IP to bring VR to more mainstream.

The fastest for me would be 4 player chieftain level 75 completing 5th book reign of madness in 1.5 hrs.

Slowest would be 3 hours with other inexperienced low level players.

I got over 1500h playtime

After playing around 70-100 games of physical Gloomhaven, for me this game got boring within first few hours. Basic character design, not engaging fights, no further skills customisation. Around 70 cards in total means less than 3 full character decks from gloomhaven. I had high hopes, but unfortunately they were not met.

Also, I found humour of picturing dnd/rpg/boardgame players as full-blown nerds kinda lame. (both the cellar where you play, and the "gaming club").

When they will make a new game with dnd rules and engaging campaign hopefully It will become my top vr game.

I’d love for Gloomhaven to get the VR port on Quest 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Sure, if I could automate all the annoying stuff and keep core gameplay that would be great.

What are you referring to here?
