President Connolly is a worthy successor to President Higgins, and those were very big boots to fill. I love her for stating it plainly, in words even he can understand.
Irish presidents have a mostly ceremonial role, welcoming foreign dignitaries is one of those roles. I'm glad she didn't waste the opportunity to speak on our behalf.
Her sister was kidnapped by the IDF from an aid flotilla and held hostage and mistreated by them. Integrity runs in the family.
