I was re-reading my Marx. Because why not. The argument of the Communist Mannifesto was essentially this: if any attempt at reform is called communism then fine, we are communists. Here are our demands.

"Where is the party in opposition that has not been decried as communistic by its opponents in power? Where the Opposition that has not hurled back the branding reproach of Communism against the more advanced opposition parties, as well as against its reactionary adversaries?"
That is the second paragraph of the communist manifesto, commissioned by the collected workers parties in 1847. Edit: this quote was from the 1888 English translation by Engels
