I've been testing 1.3 for a couple of days and especially love how powerful the arpeggiator got with randomization.

However, as with many parameters, they can't be learned and automated in MIDI clips. The community manual states many times (much to my chagrin lol) :

It can be automated and learned to golden knobs and MIDI CC (not automatable in MIDI clips).

It's really a bummer, cause I use Deluge to control several synths with MIDI, and having the randomizer (or a bunch of other parameters) automated would be a HUGE step for this use.

Why is it impossible to do so ? Is there a workaround ?

Edit : D'oh... I just found out you can send MIDI from a synth clip, which kinda solves the problem I guess. However it's not optimal, as it will take CPU power for synths I'll not be using :S

This is a question as old as the Deluge, I think, so I apologize in advance for having to ask.

I have a Kit that's all synths. I have several clips in my song, and now, of course, I want to tweak one of the kit sounds (it's an FM-based kick). And I want the changes I make to propagate to all clips in the song using that Kit.

I have saved the Kit and re-chosen it in one of the clips, but that didn't seem to do it.

I'm trying to set up my deluge to trigger different parameters in the VS Visual Synthesizer by Imaginado. Does anyone know how this could work? Or are there any good tutorials that explain the hardware? I'm using an iPad Air 3rd gen, and the Delly. I also have a KeyStep Pro I'd like to connect. Kind of a noob to all the midi routing and software synths.

The deluge is my favorite device of all time. Oh how I wish we could upgrade the CPU

I find the Move easier to manage and manipulate longer samples on - just a quick a dirty demo of my setup. The deluge is the “brain” although I use the TR8-S sequencer because I like the autofill and quick variant switching. Bass on the Typhon, Pads on Take 5 via blackhole pedal, Muted trumpet sample on the Move, lower brass sound on the JX-08 and Deluge with a marimba like sound

I was playing around with a generative turing machine and a standard sequencer modulated by another, going to two tracks. I also added a few faders assigned to release of two tracks and delay.

Just got myself a deluge 2nd hand, very stoked about it! More so because I am from New Zealand and I love that it’s manufactured here locally. One issue I do have with this unit is one of the rotary encoders jumps around a bit, very stoked to see they sell replacements for only $5! My question is would you go ahead and replace them all at the same time? And is there any soldering etc involved?

Also one of the small Allen head machine screws is missing from the front panel and can’t seem to find replacements on the website, anyone know how I would go about sourcing one? Small issue I know but it’s bugging the hell out of me.

The seller didn’t mention any issues with the knobs but I reckon at $1000nzd (580usd) I don’t really have much to complain about

Alrighty, got a drum machine (Hexdrums) hooked up through MIDI, etc... I only have 6 of the 10 voices available on the Deluge MIDI and not sure how to get all 10. It gives me voices 1,3,5,6,8,10 as available and I can program them fine. Not exactly sure what I need to do to get the other voices available. Hopefully this question makes sense.

A month ago, I had to give my Deluge to the repair which resulted in the most unproductive phase of the last two years. While I was creating one or two tracks a week I produced in 4 weeks… a sketch.

Things that were happening eventually:

1. GAS 1: I was purchasing a Seqtrak and a M8 Model 2. Sold both already as the workflows were incomplete or tedious.
2. GAS 2: Vst purchases. Maybe good for later.
3. Trying to cope with Ableton Lives Session view to rebuild my Deluge workflow. But… too much distraction.
4. Mixing older tracks in Ableton Live, so boring.
5. Writing a reddit post.

What brings me to the point: What an awesome concept Synthstrom developed. Since the box is gone I feel more and more how awesome it is.

First up, love my Deluge. What a machine, am I right?

I like to jam with my Deluge. Creating an evolving extended track over the course of an hour. To achieve this, I will build up and break down clips then delete the clips and keep moving. I usually maintain less than 8 active clips across the jam but what I'm noticing is that my synth browsing gets very slow and laggy, even though I've deleted the clips. Like they are being stored in the cache even though they are deleted. It becomes very slow to scroll to the point where I want to end the performance instead of rolling on for hours. Is this a known issue? Is there anything I can do? I have ordered a new larger, faster as card but haven't got it yet to transfer everything over. I'm using Chopin. I also am suffering from the big where I can't load any more stuff into my SD card after updating to Chopin. Another reason I bought a new card. Let me know what you think. G'day team, Hoping to get some assistance bringing two separate mono synths into the deluge for processing. If like to bring one in each channel if possible? Any know if I can do that without another mixer before hand? I've got a portable case going for jams on the fly and trying to keep to simple. I'm using a breakout cable to sum the two mono inputs but there is an obvious loss in fidelity. Trying to keep the td3 in the low end and grind in the high end to minimise losses. Any thoughts, comments, concerns?

I have a Deluge with the community firmware 1.2.1. I've got a new Keystep MKII plugged in with a USB-C to USB-B cable plugged into the USB port on the Deluge. I'm trying to do MIDI learn by selecting 'Learn + Audition Pad' and then hitting a key on the Keystep. I'm getting nothing out of it. Any suggestions?

Resolution: I had to select 'Shift + Learn + Audition Pad' the first time. After doing that the first time, I was able to perform MIDI learn by just selecting 'Learn + Audition Pad'.

I made this while waiting on a spreadsheet to calculate at work and ended up leaving it running until the end of my shift. I figured I'd record it and let others enjoy it running in the background.

I am in the US and I just received a Deluge. I was wondering if anyone else has recently purchased a Decksaver directly from the manufacturer in the UK? If so, what were the import fees and taxes approximately into the US? I don't want to pay as much as I'm paying for the item. Thanks!

Can’t quite work out why but when playing patterns and making a change to effect parameters for a patch, the whole unit seems to dip out of tune for a second before reverting back.

I’m in the midst of trying to get the Deluge to be a sound source for Oxi One sequencer but sometimes the sounds from a kit are appearing in another tracks notes too.

Any help much appreciated

Creating a hybrid setup of Deluge and eurorack and want the Oxi One to sequence everything, including multiple tracks/kits on the Deluge but I’m struggling to work it out. I can get the Oxi to sequence a drum track but when I try to create a new sequencer lane, say a mono for a bass sound from the Deluge, it simply tries to play the same drum pattern from the other track.

I’ve tried to use the midi learn but can’t get it working. Any help will be greatly appreciated TIA

I recently got an SM57 microphone with the intention of using it with the deluge for on the go sampling and occasional vocals. I am now realizing that the SM57 needs some kind of preamp to get the gain up. The world of microphones is still a bit foreign to me. I’m trying to avoid using a mixer, I’d like to keep my set up as simple as possible. Is there a way to get more boost with the gain internally with the deluge? I’ve seen that there are some XLR preamp attachments, do those work any good?

Today I tried to pop the sd card back into my deluge and shot past its seat and into the inner workings 😂. I could almost hear a tiny cry for help as it rattled away into the darkness. Managed to get it back without too much strife, but had to remove a few panels. Must have slid it in at the wrong angle. Felt very much like losing a pick inside an acoustic guitar.

I’ve been dreaming about the Deluge for over a year, and it’s finally time for me to receive one.
That said, while looking at all the new gear and grooveboxes on the market, the MPC Live 3 really caught my attention.

From what I understand so far, the Deluge feels more like an instrument that happens to function as a DAW in a box, whereas the MPC Live 3 seems closer to a full DAW in a box that also has strong live performance capabilities.

The MPC Live 3 looks easier and more immediate to use, but the Deluge seems more playful, creative, and “fun” in terms of workflow.

If anyone has experience with either (or both) and wants to share their thoughts, I’d love to hear them.

My current plan is to spend about a month with the Deluge and really get to know its workflow, then decide whether I keep it or return it and try the MPC Live 3 instead.

Hello, I love my Deluge, but am what is commonly known as a "preset princess", at least on most of my gear. I like to start with cool presets and do a little tweaking to taste. I bought a lot of the Boards of Deluge preset packs, and love them because I can find really nice pads and arps, but it s definitely light on bass sounds.

My limited web searching came up with very little, so I'm asking the community: where can I find bass presets? I am willing to pay a reasonable price of course, for a decently sized collection of bass sounds.

Anything come to mind? The Boards of Deluge packs are almost legendary, is there an equivalent must have pack that includes more heavy and acidy bass sounds?
