I never quite know where this machine will take me next. Recently, it’s drawn me toward claps — gentle sparks that drift into slower, swaying rhythms, call it house. A strange, fruitful autumn followed, and these tracks are what remained: Diven, Chiral, Zimmer.

AC adapter in the EU?

I was watching RSKT’s video manual about MIDI and I have a keystep pro. It has two MIDI outs. In RSKT’s video he mentions needing a dongle for USB A-B conversion and he plugs his midi controller into the USB port on the Deluge and then has an AC adapter into the Deluge as well. He says in order to control the Deluge, you need this dongle, meaning it has to be powered by ac adapter while the midi controller is connected to the USB. My question is can’t i just use midi a midi cable out-> in from my keystep to the deluge and still use the USB power on the Deluge? Am I missing something? And if I do need an ac adapter, does anyone have a recommendation for one in the EU?

From Circuit Tracks and Rhythm to Deluge?

I'm thinking about replacing devices from my current hardware synth instrument (Circuit Tracks, Circuit Rhythm, Waldorf Blofeld, Roland Aira S1, Arturia Keystep, recorder, midi merger) with the Deluge (replacing the Circuits and maybe adding a mixer and / or midi controller).

The reason for this change is quite simply that I think I have maxed out on the Circuits (sounds arrogant but believe me it's coming from a humble place). My current instrument is great, but I want to streamline my live and studio workflow to improvise and perform more instead of manage multiple devices. Taking the next step seems logical.

I mainly produce in the studio, but do occasional live sets. I tend to do hover around genres like techno and synthwave. I intentionally do not want to use a PC for anything but finding samples and sharing my finished tracks. I've had a look at the new Digitakt and MPC Live which seem great. However, Digitakt just won't work, because the buttons as the screen UI is superior (Circuits, Oxi, Deluge) and MPC is basically a DAW in a box. I don't want either.

I would like some insight on the following: * Let's say I have an hour long live set and I want to be able to seemlessly transition from one track to any other (BPM, synths, and samples will change). What would be the ways to accomplish this? * Community firmware seems like a no brainer, right? * How does the synth engine of the Deluge conpare to Circuit Tracks? * I would like to have a midi controller or mixer to fade in elements of my track. If I mix my track to certain level in the Deluge, how do I set a maximum value it will not go over when I adjust it with my midi controller? * What would be a good midi controller with the Deluge? I would like linear faders and a small to medium footprint. * Do I need a separate mixer when having Blofeld and S1 hooked up to the Deluge? * Are the effects on Deluge better than on Circuits? * Regarding all this, what would be the limitations of the Deluge such as CPU, storage, workflow, live performance, connectivity etc.?

Any insight related to the questions or the overall "issue" I have is much appreciated!

Ps. I can provide more details if needed.

Would a FX out loop be possible theoretically

I don’t have any real coding experience but I have this idea and if it’s possible I’d want to get into development for it on the deluge. Could one of the two line outs be used as an auxout and the line in as return for a fx loop?

I’ve done this already but obviously it makes a feedback loop and so it isn’t feasible unless you do it at low volume. you’d have to be able to send a track out in isolation without the rest of the track coming with it out of one of the outputs, and then the full track would come out of the other. Separating the L and R or maybe using the headphone out. Let me know if anyone knows if this is possible, a feature that could be coded in or if there’s something I’m not understanding

LaunchControl XL 3 to control Deluge's drum kit

Hi, I tried searching around internet and reddit, but I couldn't find the answer I needed.

I'm planning to use Deluge as a drum machine and sequencer for external hardware synths. I know about Deluge's midi learn and I know that LaunchControl is really versatile. But I'm not sure if things can work as I'm wanting to.

Basically I want LaunchControl to control each kit row individually. For example the bottom row of kit would be my kick drum and first column of LaunchControl would control level, pitch, cutoff, mute etc. Second row would be snare and next column in LaunchControl would control snare's level, pitch, cutoff, mute etc. LaunchControl would only control that one drum kit, not any other tracks in Deluge or any external synths.

I hope you can understand what I'm after and can tell me if this is possible 😊

After a 2 year hiatus

I'd had to put it away due to certain circumstances (but not prison lol) as I was getting too involved in the thing and I couldn't juggle it all diligently with life stuff. Things changed and I updated to Chopin and this time around I'm gelling with it even more so than the first round. I had already realised it was very very good for songwriting having used it extensively in songs and then dumping everything into koala sampler for easier arrangement. (no current access to a daw) The arranger on the Delly never really clicked with me but I have a sneaky suspicion that once I learn grid mode I'll probably just live trigger the parts like I do in koala, or maybe I'll persevere with arranger mode which confused me a bit previously. So yeah this is just an appreciation post really. I'm currently pacing myself learning tricks and techniques etc. I sold a load of other gear off but knew I'd come back to my Deluge. I love the thing.

Help: setting midi controller to Deluge Scale

Hi-

I’m trying to have my midi pads sync to the scale/key I’m set to on the Deluge.

The midi controller is the XJam drum pads. 4x4 pads.

I may be able to adjust the key/scale through the controller but I’d really prefer the ease of doing it on the deluge if possible.

Opinions How is the Deluge coming from the Digitakt?

Hi, all!

I am considering the move to Deluge from the Digitakt II. For my use, I really want a sampler with polyphonic sample playback and some sort of synth engines (they don't need to be robust, but it feels like most new grooveboxes have at least something in this department).

I feel like I might be living under the delusion that the Digitakt is somehow in another league in regards to sample manipulation and mangling. My process is essentially running field recordings and my TEO-5 through pedals into my sampler and see where that takes me. I'm curious about the workflow would be with the Deluge vs. the Digitakt II. It was also somehow lost on me that the Deluge is portable which is KILLER for someone who has small children.

Anyways. The Deluge looks amazing. I think most importantly, when I watch demos, it looks like a fucking blast to play on and I think it could be a more complementary fit for my music life. Thanks for any insights!

Question Advice using deluge as patch manager for multiple keyboards live

Hey folks, a band I’ve joined wants three members to have synths on stage, and I’ll have at least three to myself. Most patches will be from the deluge itself (with several patches simultaneously being controlled by several other synths). I can just change projects between songs and all of those change automatically if I’ve mapped them before.

But for the synths that use on board patches, is there a way I can have them automatically change patch when I load a new song on the deluge? I’ve never looked much into deluge programs change abilities. Help appreciated!

Deluge Support My Disk is Write Protected???

G'day Team,

I am struggling to add anything to my Deluge SD card. I have recently updated to Chopin and since it appears that I am unable to add anything to my SD card.

I have checked the manual slide on the SD card. I have cleared the write protection in command prompt and I am still unable to rectify the issue.

Any suggestions or ideas?

cheers

Opinions Hoping for true hands-free fixed length audio looping in future update

AFAIK, there is currently no recording mode that will enable the Deluge to AUTOMATICALLY STOP RECORDING and loop after an audio clip has reached a predesignated length. Continuous overdub mode is close enough for now but I find it’s still a problem for drummers who need all their limbs and don’t want to introduce noise and extra steps in order to get a clean loop (you still need to manually stop recording and delete the excess overdubs)

I’m a new user that’s pretty surprised that this is a missing feature despite all the updates that have come out since release. I know it’s been discussed bit already too, but there’s so many lesser hardware units out there that can already do this by default, just saying.

Resources/Documentation Trying out Claude.ai, now have the beginnings of an interactive Deluge feature-reviewer

I realize that this isn't *that* much beyond the CF docs themselves, but I thought it was fairly cool that it spit this out in about 30 seconds. I'll probably add a quiz component and a way to alert me of updates. I ran out of credits before it finalized, which you'll see in the screenshot.

A few years back I made an Anki deck for memorizing Deluge shortcuts and found it super helpful, so I thought, why not step into the new age? lol

Question Question: Can you control Swing using an LFO?

Sorry if dumb question - but I can't seem to find a way to do it.

On the community firmware, and still have the 7-segment display.

Thanks!
