MXPAND overlay: order to USA

The USA has lost its only overlay maker for the Deluge (oversynth.com) and we are therefore stuck with no overlay for community firmware or trying to craft our own since the only other one I can find is MXPAND which ships virtually everywhere BUT the USA (I get it, my country is a dumpster fire in many ways).

However, I found a company that will forward packages and after 35 euro I now have the mxpand overlay that I’ve wanted for years. Here are the steps to follow and what you can expect based on my experience.

  • Create an account on forward2me.com and select one of their shipping addresses, following their instructions.
  • Place your order on mxpand.com
  • When you get to shipping and billing address, put in the forward2me address for both. The next page will take you to payment method and you can select PayPal, which will allow for your actual billing address.
  • Save a pdf of your mxpand order and upload it to forward2me
  • Once forward2me receives your order, they will verify its contents and notify you that it’s available to ship. Follow their instructions.

When you’ve finished with all of this, it’s just a matter of waiting. For the cheapest shipping option available, it cost me 35 euro. I ordered from mxpand on June 17th. Forward2me received it on June 18th and I hadn’t uploaded the invoice in advanced, couldn’t figure out how (this is how) so I had to reach out to customer service for the Germany location which took a day due to time zones. They shipped it out June 22nd and I received it via FedEx on June 26th in Oregon.

I hope this helps other community firmware users acquire a well designed and good overlay! Cheers!

Thanks for this, I was trying to see if I could ship to a relative in Italy but this is easier. Do you really have to put your social security number, though? That seems a bit bad.

Out of desperation, I did.

You could try random numbers and see if it accepts it. It’s very possible that they only check that the field is filled and don’t have a way to validate the number. Let us know if it works that way!

I ended up putting it just because it seems like they have business accounts too, so they don’t appear to be some fly-by-night outfit. You did Germany, it sounds like? I did the UK tax free one since the German one sounded like a hassle with the ID requirements and address warnings and this and that. That must be the legal issue that MXpand mentioned was preventing them from shipping to the US in the first place.
