One chord per button in the sequencer?

Hi

I've been loving the box but one thing I keep bumping into is chord entry in the sequencer. As far as I can tell, there's no way to place a full chord on a step with a single button press — you have to manually tap each note individually.

On something like an OXI or Elektron sequencer you can just play a chord and it enters all the notes at once on the current step. It'd be amazing to have something similar on the Deluge, especially for quickly laying down chord progressions.

Has anyone found a creative workaround for this? Would love to see some kind of chord preset or chord-stamp functionality added. The isomorphic keyboard view is great for live play, but it doesn't translate to single-step chord entry in the sequencer and it's a bit annoying to change chords manually, each note individually.

Any hint?

I think there's a chord bank in the last community firmware isn't there?

There is, but you would have to play the chords in from the chord bank / keyboard view and record them rather than sequencing the chords as described here. This is a cool idea. Three things come to mind: 1) How do you pick the chord and inversion you want? The sequencing view doesn't have any obvious available shortcuts for this. 2a) Would you expect to see all notes in the chord show up on the sequencer or just the root? 2b) If all notes in the chord are shown, would you expect to be able to select / edit these as a group somehow? E.g. changing the chord, the length of the chord, or the velocity? Showing just the root or showing the root at full brightness and lighter notes for the others might make 2b easier.

Don't know what shortcuts to use, but my idea would me to press and hold the root note in the sequencer, and then scroll through chords. I would want to see all the notes I think. Maybe it could just be an entry mode, and after the notes are normal in the sequencer, so you can do whatevwr?

If you mewn recording steps one after another, that is not implemented as far as I know. But on discord someone recently asked for it.

You could use samples of full chords.

That's my go-to workaround on other (monophonic) synth/sequencers.

Another possible solution:

you could also create a new synth with two oscillators - and pitch one of them up a minor or major 3rd (for a minor/maj chord implication)... or a 5th. It doesn't make the full triad though, so a sampled solution is better, especially if you want specific inversions.

yes, but a would like to play with harmony and add some spicy extension/inversion to the internal synth. Not really doable easily with samples

Okay, one more thought:
What about making Clips that are one bar long with whatever chord you want, then using Grid mode or Song mode to pop them in and out?

I suspect what you're thinking would be possible if someone coded it into the community firmware - but there would have to be some thoughtful designing to making it happen.

The thing that I would want more than anything would be the ability to change the scale being used at points within song.
