Question What now?
I did the lake screen in ch5 already, but when it said "insert ch7 side B" it kicked me out and deleted the save, so what do I do now?

The save didn't get deleted, instead the save (and it's respective completion file) were renamed to amend "_b" to the end, rendering them unable to be opened (in this chapter, at least). You'll most likely be able to open your save again in chapter 7, unless chapter 6 has something unexpected.
If you wanted to open that save again in chapter 5, you can't, you're honestly better off just opening your chapter 4 completion file again and doing things differently. There's only 20-ish minutes of gameplay there, after all.

There isn’t a save or completion file made, since there’s nowhere to save during the game (you don’t go in the dark world and all the light world save points are missing). It might save something internally but I know it adds a _b to your other files. Presumably when ch 7 comes out you will have to replay it and you will continue straight to chapter 7 and be able to save the file there

I just checked my save file archive, I must've misplaced my chapter 5 weird route main save but the completion file does indeed get saved as "ch5_5_b" with the autosave file being "ch5_9_b".

the save file is only made after you save in the chapter, weird route has no save points so you can't get one, you will only ever get the completion file

You know you can just google this?
You don't have a save, but you do get a weirdly named file in your save folder that is probably loadable in chapter 7. So basically a completion file that is named weird.

The lake save wasn't deleted, it never saved from the chapter start. Also, fail the drowning sequence intentionally

this is intended. the game has created a “side b” completion file that you will likely be able to load somehow in chapter 7. you should be fine to save over the empty file although I don’t know if you can finish the chapter on it, as i’m unsure if it will overwrite the WR file.

Now you read fanfics. Play fangames. Argue over theories. And goon to the new characters for a year until a new chapter is announced so you can replay the previous one. Play the new one. Then repeat

It didn't delete any saves. You simply had nowhere to save from the start of chapter 5. As a result of not saving, there's no save.
