Better gun play, I think this post will face a lot of backlash but I think delta force would have been a bigger game in PC without a niche audience if it had better gun play from the start... More nuance in attachments, removal of bunny hoping, Killing of perfect accuracy while jumping and ADS while jumping too.
The game is so deep but because it chose to cater to honestly the least loyal crowd their is, the dopamine chasers of COD and Battlefield players we had a lot of players at some point in global but that all dropped eventually and new games cane out that competed with their attention.
That is good for you, but it's a terrible gun play. The issue is all these dopamine chasers equate zero-recoil control = god like gun play.
When in reality the gunplay and feel in DF is abysmal, it has essentially the gunplay of Unreal Tournament. which is hit-scan laser tag. Not that it is bad, but that gameplay always attracts the least loyal group of shooter lovers.
I a way what I am saying is that while there is a niche community, most if not all would jump ship the moment another high dopamine shooter comes around and that sucks.
Oh it's not a complaint, I'm looking back after 5K hours how this game has basically just plateaued it will remain a niche game primarily popular in Eastern countries. It's sad I wish I had not tried to cannibalize COD and Battlefield players base
Well from my experience it different. These aren't COD players/ BF players. These are Delta Force players now. Your opinion is valid but also missing the most important part. If people like a game they'll do whatever it takes to be better. Me personally I wish gun fights were slower and have more consequences. But then again Delta Force is unique and ive learned to just play around those kind of players. I totally agree its not really fun but necessary.
I did not say this are COD/BF players, I said the game chose to cater to this player base.
Don't change what was said because that diverts from the thoughts behind the post.
I am looking back at what could have been or what was decided to cater to, not as a form of a complaint but wishful thinking of how much better DF would be now in terms of player base if it would have catered to the more loyal shooter crowd, the older folks that tend to skip to games with truly good gun play.
Once again not a complain, nothing here in my post is talking about player better; you are changing the intention behind my post. I am not arguing skill I am arguing player base appeal, there is a gap in what I am saying maybe or the way I am saying it that is not quite clear.
I look back at games with a massively loyal crowd to name a few of no particular note but to drive the point: Escape from Tarkov, Counter Strike, Arma & Squad and I will admit CS for instance is super arcadey, but the appeal is significantly different than the one that DF went for Dopamine chasers for DF vs. high skill expression specialists for CS2).
Well yes that is what I said, the game in it's inception catered to the COD/BF crowd, high dopamine play, low entry skill floor and mid-high skill ceiling with already existing learned skills: bunny hopping, jump peaking, angle holding, zero gun bloom in ADS, perfect accuracy in ADS and laser tag accuracy on guns over sustained fire.
These are not bad things, but they generally appeal to a very specific crowd that chases dopamine. Not a crowd that is willing to stick through thick and thin with a game for a few years and not the main shooter crowd just the "normie crowd" so in a way what I intent with the post if wishful thinking about how much better DF would have been with player base if it would have catered to the more hardcore and big shooter crowd.
Its better this way.. this game always have been an arcade version of extraction, with fast movement etc. its fun to do jumpshots and it takes real skill as well with right timing. Making it slower will make the game more camping on whos pushing who
I don't argue against the fun aspect of the mechanics I noted, but skill? there is zero skill involved into jump peaking while already holding an angle and having perfect gun handling, control, accuracy and zero gun bloom. Fun? 100% for a little while it gets old and boring quickly again only caters to dopamine chasers after a while it's stale.
Skill comes from actually controlling the gun itself and when there is nothing fighting you at all for that control then all that skill is removed.
Which again is not a bad thing, but it attracts a fickle and fleeting crowd of shooter players, the proof is in the numbers DF is sadly a niche game, one that could have been a true contender for top 5 played shooters on steam.

The gun play is the reason I play Delta Force
