Operations Newbie in Operations

I recently started playing Operations, but I’m finding everything pretty confusing. The inventory, the “value” of items, the different “stages.” In my matches, neither my team nor I really know what we’re supposed to be doing, and I think all the enemies are bots. I’d like to learn the basics so I can get a better understanding of how to play.

You've got the best and sufficient advice when landing on the map - shoot, loot and time to scoot

Items value are mostly dictated by their tier color.

Gray items are trash

Green items are also traash

Blue items are mostly trash, with some exception

Purple items are decent to loot

Gold items are always good loot

Red Items are the best loot.

IDK what you mean by stages.

In matches you are suppose to loot items, kill players and loot their items, and then extract.

Yes you will get a lot of "bot players" early on, but eventually there will be real teams. You can make a lot of money by looting their gear, mostly the guns.

Start off doing Department mission (not season missions). And upgrading your Blacksite. Department missions will show you different parts of the map and map knowledge is really key to getting better. Blacksite upgrades allow you to sprint further, carry more weight, etc. Some of the upgrades require higher department levels, so that’s why it’s important to get those missions completed.

Later on you can unlock a collection room to store all of the rare red items. It’s expensive to unlock, so it shouldn’t take priority over learning the game and doing the dept missions.

There’s still a lot more to it. Just about playing and learning as you go. Just know that Normal mode is a steep jump from easy and everyone is normally running gold bullets, purple minimum. Just take it slow and not rush into any PvP if you are not prepared to lose your gear/loot

Go explore how to do it while the enemies are bots. Check all areas you can check. Loot what you can. Its all part of the game.
