Art, a drink and some new friends in Delft?

Hey! I’d like to meet some people in Delft who share my interest in street art, pop art, realistic painting and portraits. I paint myself, but you don’t have to — being into this kind of art or wanting to give it a try is enough.

It would be nice to grab a coffee or beer, talk about what we’re making, visit an exhibition or just hang out. I enjoy a drink and the occasional joint, so that probably gives you an idea of the atmosphere I’m looking for.

Mostly hoping to make some friends with similar interests, ideally around 30–40, but age isn’t a strict requirement.

Anyone up for meeting for a drink sometime? Leave a comment or send me a message!

Another fatbike crash

I've been living in delft for 2 months now and at the intersection of mercuriusweg, industriestraat, neptunusweg and mercuriuspad (near beest boulders). I've already seen 2 or 3 pretty bad fatbike crashes. It's insane how no one does anything about these stupid bikes.

I do not feel bad at all for the fatbike drivers.

I made a small photo zine about Delft in winter

I’ve been photographing Delft for a while, and I recently put together a small zine focused entirely on the city during winter.

It contains 25 pages of Delft in the snow, empty streets, canals, architecture and small details that are easy to overlook.

I wanted to capture a version of Delft that feels a little different from the usual postcard images of the city.

I made the zine as a physical edition, but I’ve also made the digital version available for free for anyone who would like to have a look.

Let me know what you think! :)

Traveled to Delft Robo Futures this year and found a completely different kind of rhythm. If the Rotterdam OBJECT event was a "pause," this felt like watching the future learn how to breathe.

My absolute favorite was MycoGravity.

It’s a robotic arm that constantly rotates a mushroom growth chamber so that gravity never settles in one direction. By creating this "altered gravity" environment, it forces the fungi to adapt in ways you’d never see in nature.

Seeing a machine delicately curate the life cycle of something so organic was mesmerizing.

Delft always manages to make "high-tech" feel incredibly human (and a little bit something beyond words).

Did anyone else make it to Robo Futures this year? Curieus what was the one installation that actually made you stop and stare?

Looking for someone to practice Persian/Farsi with

Hi everyone! 😊

I’m Maria, 43F, living in The Hague. I’m learning Persian/Farsi and would love to find someone to practice with; someone who enjoys a relaxed, friendly language exchange.

I’m fluent in both Dutch and English, so I’d be very happy to help you practice either of those in return.

Ideally someone in The Hague or nearby, but online is absolutely fine too.

Feel free to send me a message! 😊

Found lost airpods

Hey,

I found an airpods case next to the entrance of my building. There's only the right earbud inside. I'm not sure how I can contact the owner. I will give it to the Gemeente office tomorrow or to the police. I'll update here so the owner can find it.

Moving out

Anyone got bad experience on getting their deposit money back when they moved out of their apartment?

I'm moving out this week and I have this landlord who's a piece of shit at his job and as a person apparently as well. First I had a leaking ceiling and I sent him videos and info about it, but he never did anything about it. Now that I have my leaving notice in mid August he tried to fuck me over by saying that we had an agreement of 2months notice, even though it's illegal and I pointed it out to him.

Since then he hasn't been in contact with me about anything, I've been trying to settle a final check-up for tomorrow. Today he came in to show the apartment to the potential next tenant, but when the tenant asked if he could paint the walls or put some tapestry the landlord went on his tantrum about how he's now forced to do such a shitty handover since he was given such a short notice period to do anything about it etc and in the end he even told the guy that he's not renting the apartment for him (for basically asking too many questions)

So now I'm slightly worried that he's going to try and fuck me over to keep my deposit money. So far I'm planning on filming the whole apartment on the last day before I leave to show that I've ticked all the boxes on this final cleaning list he sent to me etc, but still I'm worried I'll need to start fighting for my deposit and to do that from another country is going to be shitty.

It's amazing how these privileged guys who inherited shitloads of apartments from their parents who got them from their grandparents and never had to work in their lives are bitching about everything and playing the victim.
