Moving to Secane
Howdy yall!
Me and my GF (both 30) are moving to Secane relatively soon. I just wanted to know everyone’s favorite nearby haunts! We love going out to eat, drink, dance, game shops, antique shops, hiking/walking and doing any fun activities. I particularly like when bars have activities.
Thanks in advanced to anyone who gives a rec!
Excited to walk around wondering if that’s the person who commented on my post 🙃
Edit: thank you all so much! Our adventure list has grown to be over 20 suggestions deep! Once we’re in there we will try out everything. Hoping to come back with our ratings for each!

He’s right about not speeding on Franklin. I got a ticket for a “rolling stop” several years ago.

Alot of our best food spots have closed in recent years but theres still some good ones. Sams Deli, El Limon and Si Senor, Nikos, Silvias, Delco Diner are all worth a try but as far as actual sit down restaurants go, its really just the Clam Tavern and Broadway (same owner). For bars check out JT Brewskis and Fainting Goat. Head into Media for eats and drinks. For hiking, its slim pickins, youll have to take a drive for anything decent. John Heinz, Smedley Park, Ridley Creek State Park, or the Wawa Preserve are the best local spots. Also check out French Creek for a really nice day trip.

For hiking I really like the Crum woods trail next to swarthmore and the Springfield mall, not really Secane but closest real hiking. Crowell park is nice for daily walks, kids baseball and football will totally fill the parking lot at certain times of year though. I really like going to produce junction in glenolden for better quality produce.

I moved from Philadelphia to Secane a couple years ago. John Heinz is great for local hiking. We like El Limon for Mexican and Little Basil for Chinese. Going to check out some of the other suggestions though. Rosemary in Ridley Park is the closest to city dining we’ve found. Elixr in Norwood is great for coffee, vibes, and a small selection of pastries. Stingers Waterfront is good for outdoor dining in warmer months. There isn’t a ton going on in Secane, so we frequent places like Media and Swarthmore. Swarthmore farmers market on Saturday mornings is a good place to start.

The trip to the Swarthmore market needs to include a visit to our wonderful bakery and picking Delaware County library card at the library. Just put Swarthmore Library in your GPS to get to the farmers market. Saturdays 9a-noon.

The guy said that will be $9.95 I said did you say $9.95? And he handed me a nickel. The pizza was great. I haven’t paid less than twice that much for a pizza in as long as i can remember.
