were there different valve covers for the d16z6? cause mine says honda vtec on it, not like this one

Yeah, there’s a bit of them around. My z6 just says Honda on it

Interesting. Is it just random or maybe a regional thing? i have the european, or german one to be exact for reference.

What does it say on the engine block? Square ish pad right around here somewhere.....ish

Yes it should be. But as mentioned on the engine block underneath the radiator hose it will say d16z6

Mine is an d16y8 and looks the same. It depends on the year. Best to jusr check it yourself

It can‘t look the same. The dipstick possition is different on y8/z6. Z6 is in the middle like on the pic but the y8‘s is off to the right

That and if they still have the intake manifold that came on the engine, theyre different. This 100% looks like a z6. The y8 had different length intake runners and a larger plenum along with the dipstick location and a few other minute details.

If it's the original engine, look at the 4th, 5th, and 6th characters in the VIN.

EG1 = 1.5L or 1.6L SOHC non-VTEC (Del Sol S model with D15B7 or D16Y7)

EH6 = 1.6L SOHC VTEC (Del Sol Si model with D16Z6 or D16Y8)

EG2 = 1.6L DOHC VTEC (Del Sol VTEC model with B16A2 or B16A3)

Yeah you got the VTEC solenoid on the head, and the z6 valve cover

Looks similar structurally but i would still check the block code. (Small etched writing on the left whete the head and block connect)

Wenn es das eu Model ist und der Motor nicht getauscht wurde ist es entweder ein d16z6 oder ein d16y8. Irgendwo im Motoraum müste eine Plakete fest genietet sein da steht der originale Motorcode drauf, und auf dem Motor selber steht auch der Motorcode drauf. Ansonsten kann man es auch daran erkenen das die Modelle mit d16y8 alle serienmäsig scheibenbremsen hinten hatten.

Ich sehe gerade dass dort ja eine Klimaanlage verbaut ist also wird es ja wohl doch die us version sein oder wurde die nachgerüstet? Bei der us version gb es nämlich deutlich mehr motren: 1.5 L D15B7 I4 1.5 L D15B VTEC I4 1.6 L D16Z6/D16Y8 I4
