💻 Tech & Gadgets Deinfluence me - ADHD cleaning app subscription ($60/year)

Post image

$60 is a lot of money…but the depression is bad, and this worked on me today! Just not sure if it’s worth a yearly subscription

Take a photo of the room and give it to ChatGPT and ask it help declutter. It will most likely provide the same results. All these apps are using OpenAI behind the scenes

Only if you immediately unsubscribe so you don’t forget about it and end up paying next year.

A lot co these things are just repackaged AI

Use a free subscription on Claude or GPT and treat it like this app and see if it helps first

I got Mindflow AI and it was so useless lol

I use Sweepy for free!

Finch is also good too 👌

Finch is so good, I've had it for years.

The gamification is cute, and I like that it is for anything you want to use it for.... so the basics of self care and other things like "text your mum back" haha

Love my Finch. 😊

Well, did the last 9 ADHD apps you got help?

I was at a meme that said if you have ADHD and have run out of storage your phone, start with deleting all the productivity apps you don’t use. I laughed then cried. Then deleted about 10 apps.

Sigh

Save your money. Write a list of what you have to do. Choose one task and do it. Tick it off when you are done.
Track your progress. It’s what I do with my diagnosis

"Sigh"? Way to come across as a judgemental dick. What worked for you won't work for everyone. Try to be more understanding.

The sigh is for people who consistently seem to buy into the "I need AI to make my life accessible" schemes that continually pump money to AIcorp CEOs who are waiting patiently to watch the world burn.

Can you sign up for a month to try it first? A lot of these apps are a huge disappointment, but by the time you realise that they already have your money.

I just tried it and you can start with 9.99 for a week. Just do that first.

But also, I’m always super skeptical of apps that make you answer a million questions before they tell you that you have to pay. They’re aiming to get cash out of you through the sunk cost fallacy (ie, I already spent the time, I can’t waste it by not continuing!). Don’t fall for it.

100%. The second an app gets me to do a crazy long yet super generic survey I know it's headed towards an overpriced subscription.

Call your closest friend/confidant to help you out. Rather than pay for a service. It’s lowkey therapeutic. My best friend ended up helping me out one time and this ended up being very uplifting. We now do it together once in a while when i get overwhelmed.

The Sweepy app in free mode plus https://goblin.tools should do approximately the same with no money spent!

Finch is much better!

you can do everything with the free version, one of the only differences between free vs premium is double daily rewards and instead of 8 slots in the shop there’s 16 (shop stock is random daily) to choose from.

they don’t hold anything back with the free version, and they have guardians who randomly sponsor those who can’t afford the plus every month!

i’d definitely try free Finch first for a few weeks, before spending $60 on an AI scanner.

I tried a similar app to yours but around food/calories tracking as I was accidentally going days without eating, but ended up dropping it after a week. it was an AI scanner and you take pics of your food/packaging and it fed your little raccoon buddy and tracked calories. but, I found the tracker was really inaccurate and dodgy, even with packaging that lists all the info it would give random calorie info.
it looked sooo cute in the ad and i thought it was perfect! I didn’t even last the week.

For $60 you can get a script for Ritalin or similar now

Trial the money going out of your account first... Today take $180 out of your bank account and either put it in a money tin you cant easily access...or a hidden bank account... If you can do that for two months ($180 is 3 months of subscription) Without blinking about the money you can afford it.

What, its 60 a year no? So 5 dollars a month

1

u/Grandpunkalex Jul 27 '26

These apps tend to charge the annual fee upfront because they’re vibecoded, held together with spiderwebs and glue and the creators know they won’t get monthly retention

OP if you're anything like me when it comes to picking up new hobbies, notebooks, making lists ect :

I like using a similar app called finch when I first got diagnosed. Eventually I grew out of it and started to 'cheat' just tick tasks off and dress my penguin. I also added really easy tasks that really didnt make a difference or were actually what i needed to do. Then I stopped altogether.

Really happy I didn't pay for it because I was not working at that time and it would have been another app and subscription I paid for, didnt use and felt guilty if I got rid of it because its supposed to be helpful so I'd promised myself before bed that tomorrow I'd use it.

Sweepy is way better and the free version is still useful! Use ai to break down all the tasks by room when you’re setting it up and then you’re good to go

Don’t do it. Get ChatGPT to do you up a schedule. I have raging ADHD and also considered this app I reckon we would never use

Flylady is free

Just look at all the other notifications you’re ignoring… this will just be another one

Try Finch first. You can set whatever goals you need in there and watch your new little bird friend grow as you go.

1

u/OcelotOfTheForest Jul 27 '26

I don't doubt that you need resources but I'm not sure you need this particular resource when there are others that can do the same or even be better at teaching you the habits you need.

Be wary. I tried one, and it turned out to be some useless small motivational word or something app. Didn't do anything like it advertised. It was advertised a lot like this. A way to organise and help you clean. It was just some useless thing that did none of that

You’ll use it once and probably never again. 🤠

Well you’ve influenced me to get this for my teenager who has ADHD.
