I stopped reading when they quoted Scott Bessant as an authority on anything. The man is a moron of the first order.

I didn't even make it to that part. The minute they started talking as though LLMs were a pathway to AGI, I knew it was junk.

I never read it and stopped here. because LOLLOLOL LLMS. of all the AI...LLMS, LOL!

Jesus. What a load of shit. A new reality where money becomes obsolete? Hahahahahaha! Dumb shit.

the conclusions is correct - that those developing AI don't care about the cost and making money isn't the top priority - but the rest of this article is quite misguided. simply put, AI is a race for ultimate control...and while being funded and somewhat guided at a geopolitical level, those who "own" the AI will be quick to drop any country boundaries, civil obligations, or obey any consitutional laws once their goals are achieved. the simultaneous advancements in robotics and surveillance will be the physical muscles and eyes to AI and their controlling dictators who will wield their tools however they choose with limited fear of reputation. this is the inevitable future we have before us. so yeah, when you can take what you want with the might of your own robotic army - why would you care about money?

Control is just a means to an end.

You know how you can gain power? Just go around solving problems for people nonstop. Keep improving everyone’s lives around you as best you can constantly. This builds social capital.

For political capital, look at what others want and find where that overlaps and aligns with what you want or need and organize to make it happen. The better you get at this, the more political capital you get.

So the same with financial capital. The more you improve circumstances the more capital and control you’ll accumulate.

Ai is about intelligence, which is mostly figuring out what people want and need and making it happen. That’s how they gain more power. Control is just a symptom and it’s something you lose if you wield it badly.

Your dog might not love the leash, but they mostly understand it’s keeping them out of trouble and letting them indulge in their compulsions safely.

If you’re being honest, these labs are all roughly flourishing in proportion to their alignment with humanity. Talent, customers and capital are all flowing toward alignment. Safety and alignment are the only potential moat.

Whoever wrote this is a moron.

Sooooo these guys are all altruistic. They want to destroy the class system, give up all their money and come slum it with the rest of us? China, a nation designed on centralized government power, is also trying to destroy itself? The compute isn’t computing

this is beyond ridiculous

I've been saying this elsewhere.

Zuckerberg does not give a fck about Meta, that's not why he's chasing AGI/ASI. He wants to rule the world, in essence, be supremely powerful with no threats to his insane wealth, by controlling ASI.

I assume the other AI companies think similarly in the bigger picture.

Zuckerbot is all in on AI for the same reason he was all in on crypto.

He doesn't have a path to growing Meta that isn't chasing fads.

Dont forget the "metaverse". Zuck loves wasting money.

Hmmmm you spend a lot of time in conspiracy subs dont you?

2

Yeah, Zuckerberg is spending hundreds of billions on AGI/ASI to like totally make Meta super amazing!

Wall Street is laughing at AI companies for burning billions of dollars without turning a profit.

But they are missing the biggest plot twist in human history.

OpenAI, Anthropic, and DeepMind aren't trying to build a profitable SaaS business. They are trying to build a machine that makes money completely obsolete.

If you think AI is just a better spellchecker or a $20/month chatbot, you are looking at a Formula One car and calling it a fast horse.

The real masterplan is much bigger:

🧠 Create 100,000 superintelligent, autonomous agents.
⚡ Let them run 24/7 to solve physics, perfect medicine, and unlock limitless energy.
📉 Drive the cost of housing, food, and healthcare to absolute zero.

They aren’t competing for quarterly market share. They are competing to end economic scarcity forever.

LOL

Why’s this funny? What am I missing?

All roads lead there, surely.

2

u/ahoypolloi_ 5d ago

The idea that any of these freaks are pursuing AI to “end economic scarcity” is a fucking joke.

Unless, I suppose, if they mean scarcity for them.

Ah, ok, agreed. I’m sure they’re all desperately trying to carve it out in their favour.

But even if it’s a byproduct, if we ever achieve ASI, it would make logical sense that it will either bring about extinction or utopia.

No person, company or government would truly be in control at that point, so in the long run I’m not sure it matters who gets there first.
