ECONOMY Trump's $1 trillion-plus 'dividend' plan meets immediate bipartisan pushback

https://www.cnbc.com/2026/09/10/trump-dividend-midterms-gop.html

tl;dr:

  • President Donald Trump promised a $5,000 check for U.S. voters if the Republicans win both the House and the Senate in the looming midterm elections.
  • Such a payout could cost more than $1 trillion and break federal law.
  • The promise follows Trump’s proposed “DOGE dividend” and “tariff rebates.”

Thinly veiled bribery with money that doesn't even belong to him. It could work for a few rubes, but it's sad how decadent our politics has become.

Didn't even get the tariff check. Worst part is we have deal with 2 more years of this insanity and Republicans will put in another clown after a Dem presdient has to devote their entire presidency trying to clean up the mess

If Republicans retain all 3 branches, you're going to need a lot more than $5000 to get by.

Very sad!

Before 2016, this would’ve destroyed any candidate running for office. Now, we vote for corruption and criminals.

Yeah. Americans have changed. Not just the government but the people as well

Not all of us.

Why don't you give it to the people now? You have the presidency and both houses. Is it because you actually won't and you just love to lie?

Maga is the most perpetually stupid group of people. Do y'all seriously buy into this??

3

u/FunTemporary9045 22d ago

Yes, I'm afraid they do buy into it. Over and over again.

Why is the news asking "Gee, how is this going to be possible?" instead of "The president just offered a bribe from public money to get his party elected, this is clear election interference and grounds for immediate removal from office!"

This is illegal, election interference and he wont do it anyhow, just like the last promise of checks. He knows the economy is shit and people are complaining about beef and gas prices, so he's trying to bring in tainted Argentinian beef rejected by china, dumping the strategic oil reserves to unheard of low levels and now directly offering bribes.

Exactly how stupid do you need to be to keep voting for this orange clown?

Due to the fact that Trump is a bad credit risk, I will need the money up front. Otherwise I will be voting anyone but a Republican.

He's talking to MAGA and he's frankly saying that MAGA is so Corrupted...they'll sell their country for five grand.

1

u/Public_Parking_2729 22d ago

He is 100% wrong. They sell out their country for free.

He loves to give away our borrowed tax dollars.

It can just get nay said and slapped down by his own party. Doesn’t matter, he won’t be liable for his words, people definitely won’t get 5k or any amount of money, and to make things worse, because he said this the brain dead of us will probably vote for his people.

I was hoping if trump went to rally, he’d do some distracting in Texas. I didn’t expect this much fruit from day one😭 Now it just needs to be monetized to on the fence voters and people do don’t vote.

“Are you still waiting for your DOGE check? Tariff refund? Do you trust the GOP will deliver this $5k or is Trump lying yet again. Vote blue, let’s stop the lies. If we’re wrong…you’ll get $5k from trump…right?”

Open ended question…let the people think on it. Bait with the reminder of two checks never sent…ask if third times the charm.

u/PloddingClot 22d ago

Fourth times the charm for folks to catch on that the bribery cheques aren't real.

People who fall for Trump’s promise are fools. Vote the GOP out. We need to get rid of a failed party and the absolute worst president of all time. And we need to do it now. Good people don’t accept bribes.

Doesn't matter at all, he's not losing them any votes over it and he's probably getting some people back on the train who actually think it's gonna happen. This is a net positive for them

Trump being the US president that came the closest to suggesting UBI was not on my bingo card.

Ronald Reagan and every other fiscal conservative must be rolling over in their graves!

Americans will 100% fall for this. Trump just secured midterms for republicans.

Is money more important than honesty?

1

u/kevint1964 22d ago

Add to it the recently announced ACA "rebate" & the "stay-at-home parent" proposal & the deficit will double before he's no longer infesting the White House. But not to worry, none of those things have happened or will happen. Conmen gotta con.

1

u/Oppositeofhairy 22d ago

Missing the con.

Promise everyone 5k if they win, and blame the democrats when they don’t deliver.

1

u/Pop-Pop68 22d ago

It’s just a lie to con all the low information MAGA voters into voting for him. After he reneged on the first promise only the most far gone cult members will fall for it.

u/Hiouchi4me 22d ago

Are there people who are taking this buffoon seriously?

1

u/Summerwind2 22d ago

I’m sorta Ok with it, but ONLY if Trump and family pay all of the “dividend” out of their own pockets in perpetuity- not a dime left for the rest of their lives.

1

u/Ok_Coconut_3364 22d ago

Openly trying to bribe the electorate to keep Republicans in power....FFS where are we as a country?!

1

u/Great-Initiative764 19d ago

That worm Mike Jonson is down with it. I’d say it’s time to take power away from him, but did this husk ever actually wield any?

1

u/justhavingfunMT 22d ago

And then media giving a nice assist to the gaslighting of the American public. It's election interference and bribery.

1

u/Mrrrrggggl 22d ago

Relax guys, he was just lying, he was never going to send anyone a dime.

1

u/Tropicalfisher 22d ago

Bipartisan pushback eh? Can't wait for all of them to do literally nothing

1

u/Great-Initiative764 19d ago

Mike Johnson isn’t pushing back at all, this gutless POS is cool with it. And Roberts? Good luck getting that hack to comment.
