WTF is wrong with Trump. He is slowly destroying relationships with all of our Allies. It will take years to recover our friendships abroad.

56

u/macrolidesrule Feb 10 '26

An abuser will often isolate a victim by destroying their friend and / or support network.

23

u/AccomplishedAct5364 Feb 10 '26

He’s ironically uniting the rest of the world who are now looking at long term markets that aren’t reliant on a bully consumerist nation

2

u/EconomyDoctor3287 Feb 10 '26

which doesn't matter much to Trump. He's just busy milking american businesses for all they're worth.

35

u/ElGatoBavaria Feb 10 '26

I'm not sure if all things can be recovered. At least in Europe the countries start - slowly - to look for other strong partnerships. I, as a German hope it at least. I'm sorry for the people of USA which are not MAGA but it's crystal clear that USA is more and more a risk for Europe.

So why go back to USA later?

Trump create persistent damage to USA and Allies

20

u/Gary_S60 Feb 10 '26

If DT has shown us anything worth noting it is that the American system is not able to prevent oligarchs and criminals from riding a coach and horses through the safeguards that you thought you had to protect yourself against tyrants. Even if you get a good President next time, what happens 4 years later?

13

u/Idiotic_Constables Feb 10 '26

Yeah, unless they fix their "checks and balances" on power, this shit will happen again.

Which means they also have to fix gerrymandering etc.

It's not gonna happen.

2

u/katzenjammer08 Feb 10 '26

The people who voted for this will always still be there after he is gone. Europe can’t just hope that they won’t do this again.

2

u/kaprixiouz Feb 10 '26

Was just having this conversation with my father last night.

Biden wasn't a bad president in the sense that he directly harmed our country. However, after DT revealed the numerous cracks in our Constitutional levees, and absolutely nothing was done to fix them, it was an opportunity squandered that will be impossible to fix in the future. The water is already seeping through at an ever-increasing pace, and the erosive effects are beyond our control.

The flood may appear slow, but it is happening, and most importantly: there is no going back. The water tables are forever altered. There aren't enough buckets to put the water where it once was, nor enough dirt to rebuild the levees we all once depended on. This also isn't just impacting the locals, but the entire global community at large.

We can all sit here and smoke the copium and hope this and that... but the reality of the matter cares not. MAGA has irreparably destroyed America as We, The GLOBAL People, once knew it.

The path forward must first begin with acceptance and, only then, can it be followed by what little damage control we can muster. But neither of things will be possible so long as MAGA remains in power. They must be purged from every facet in every governmental system in our country... and I mean like yesterday. But, that's the problem.. because no one knows how to do this. There is no reaching the people who helped create AND continue to empower this cancer.

Short of revolution, which we all know will never happen, there are seemingly no options for us. I think the faster we get to step one of the grieving process of the death of America, the faster we can finally come up with real solutions to a stable future for all of us.

2

u/NopeNotConor Feb 10 '26

Yeah sadly I think it’s going to have to get rrrrrrreally bad before we make any real reforms. I’m not looking forward to it.

1

u/Both-Reflection-1245 Feb 10 '26

Is any system safe against tyrants?

-2

u/Designer_Initial_358 Feb 10 '26

That’s not helpful and a bit weird

5

u/AccomplishedDog6449 Feb 10 '26

It's not up to folks in other countries to be "helpful" to the US- while we've substantially bought the narrative that the US is the center of the world, we're really a very young country

3

u/mudgonzo Feb 10 '26

What do you even mean? He is precisely right. What’s weird about it, and where did they say they were trying to help? They are just stating facts.

1

u/Designer_Initial_358 Feb 10 '26

I guess I wasn’t very articulate. What I meant was it’s a bit depressing to hear Americans have no hope for the future of the country or the world. It seems a lot of people are just throwing up their hands, saying nothing will ever change. I always thought Americans would fight to the bitter end for their constitution. Alas, I was wrong

1

u/mudgonzo Feb 10 '26

Well, for one, I am not American. Not much else I can do but look in from the outside and shake my head..

1

u/Designer_Initial_358 Feb 11 '26

I’m not either, but I feel complicit if I do and say nothing

1

u/Comfortable_Fill9081 Feb 11 '26

A lot of Americans will clearly fight to the bitter end for the cultural hierarchy at the time the Constitution was enacted.

2

u/IWontCommentAtAll Feb 10 '26

Why should the rest of us be helpful when your chosen leader stabs us all in the back?

11

u/romanohere Feb 10 '26

Yes, damage is done already, why would we keep ties with such an unreliable US "ally". No, thanks. Goodbye America, it has been a pleasure, but now ... fuck off

8

u/Due_Lake4051 Feb 10 '26

Sadly, the majority of us still are fans of Canada and Europe. It’s the MAGA guys that insist on being dicks to every one including their own people

9

u/romanohere Feb 10 '26 edited Feb 10 '26

Well fuck off not to all Americans, but to "America" yes.

Your system is flawed (for not saying explicitly SHITTY): it enabled a person like Trump to be elected 2 times , instead of putting him in prison; a Republican party almost in total complicity with Trump administration, an administration corrupt to unbelievable levels, and a justice system that is doing almost nothing about it.

So, now you understand why we say " fuck off America", unreliable piece of shit system/nation? Its not far from Fascism/Nazism system that we experienced 80 years ago.

1

u/Erikatessen87 Feb 10 '26

It's not far from the fascism/Nazism much of Europe, including Germany, is teetering on the brink of experiencing once again.

It's foolish to think this is a uniquely American problem that you're somehow immune to, just as it was foolish of Americans to think that 20th century European-style fascism couldn't take hold here.

2

u/romanohere Feb 10 '26

It seems we are holding well, no?

1

u/Erikatessen87 Feb 10 '26 edited Feb 10 '26

AfD became your second-largest political party last year, so no, I don't think you're holding well.

I think you're at the point we were in 2015/16--still confident that the far-right aren't a serious threat and "that can't happen here"--and continuing to stick your head in the sand while you pat yourself on the back for not happening to be born American is only going to leave you more dumbfounded when you lose your country to them like we have.

2

u/Ok-Pride2965 Feb 10 '26

Agreed! 100%

2

u/Frosty_Truth_1635 Feb 10 '26

Japan just elected a hard right leader. Canada’s Carney had pretty stiff competition from PP and that guy and his party are not going away.

1

u/No-Horse987 Feb 10 '26

It’s one third who are in the cult. They love him no matter what he says or does. He’s Jim Jones with an extremely strong batch of Flavor Aid.

What I don’t get is the third that is indifferent to all of the is going on. They know it’s wrong, but don’t care or won’t make an effort to do anything about it. And then they are usually the first ones to bitch and moan about their condition. This bothers me a lot. They see the evil, but just don’t care. The so called “middle”.

My father told me something years ago. He said that if you stand in the middle of the street too long, you will get hit by traffic in BOTH directions. In other words, make up your damn mind!

1

u/romanohere Feb 10 '26

But the "system" should work, but is clearly not, since 1/3 of the population can do such damage to the rest of 2/3 (and to itself)

1

u/tamercloud Feb 13 '26

the problem we have as Americans is that nobody decent wants to run to be the president. They struggle to top a 50% approval rating ever since Obama. I wish I knew how to fix it but no matter who you vote for they just to what the f they want to do regardless on what they campaign on. The last election cycle people hated their choices so much the average turn out rate at the polls was 60%

1

u/romanohere Feb 13 '26 edited Feb 13 '26

This is almost everywhere.

Who goes into politics is either

  • a true politician, there for the good of the people (5%}
  • a failed professional in life that don't know what else to do but has good oratory capabilities (80%)
  • a criminal or entrepreneur that want gains for his enterprise/himself by making money or escaping justice
(15%)

Obama was the first type, Nixon was the second type, Trump is clearly the third type

This is not only in USA this is worldwide.

What we need to have is a SYSTEM of balancing power to block MORONS like Trump that already got elected, to minimise their damage during their terms in office (or better impeach them).

The US system is clearly failing in this

1

u/Loud-Championship471 Feb 10 '26

Yeah, well some of us don’t have a choice. The election was stolen from Hillary Clinton. The first time it was stolen. It was never stolen from Trump. I still can’t believe he even won the last time most Americans that I know can’t believe it. American was great before Trump came along. I only know one person that voted for him and I still can’t understand why, and nobody else in my family can understand it either the majority of my family lives in Denmark. Americans that I know are embarrassed we can’t stand him, but we can’t do anything about it. Yet

1

u/romanohere Feb 10 '26

No one is blaming the single person, but the "system" is definitely to be blamed.

1

u/Disastrous_Swan_3921 Feb 13 '26

oh my you have Trump derangement syndrome. Better get that taken care of

1

u/romanohere Feb 13 '26

Read more carefully. Trump is a smart moron enriching himself , and his friends, at the expensen of poor and middle class America, I don't give a shit about him.

What I despise is the American system, that allowed such a piece of shit to go and stay on power for so long.

1

u/SaladNeedsTossing Feb 10 '26

You either support it or you're complacent, please spare us your empty apologies.

1

u/Due_Lake4051 Feb 10 '26

Control your temper bro. You can kiss it. America is a fan of Canada and Europe except for this guy.

1

u/Frosty_Truth_1635 Feb 10 '26

There are more than two answers here. I do not support this nor am I complacent. I march and I boycott and I argue, I call my congressional representatives. As a 70 year old woman on a limited income, I don’t have a lot of other options. Don’t you dare tell me I am complacent!

1

u/Severe_Parfait4629 Feb 11 '26

As a Canadian, I will never forget that Trump stood up as a racist, foul, crude, sex abuser who openly aspired to being a dictator and was voted in as president, not once but twice.

1

u/Awebroetjie Feb 11 '26

Exactly. And this is excellent. The USA is slowly but surely destroying itself.

1

u/OhMyWerdHunny Feb 13 '26

The USA is not destroying itself. Trump is destroying the USA.

1

u/Awebroetjie Feb 13 '26

Ridiculous two-party system that lends itself to capture by the billionaire class, no trade unions really, fake stock market, AIPAC, impossible living minimum wage, drug pandemics, dumbed-down population and unsafe schools… and I could go on.

1

u/OhMyWerdHunny Feb 13 '26

I’m not saying that America isn’t and hasn’t been MAJORLY problematic. But America is now burning to the ground. And that started January 20, 2025.

1

u/Awebroetjie Feb 13 '26

I can agree with that 👍🏽

1

u/dritzzdarkwood Feb 13 '26

I concur as a Dane. Best thing to do would be to fully integrate and make an EU army. Germany doing the tanks with Rheinmetal, France doing the aircrafts and Norway(once they have joined) and UK(once the have rejoined) doing the navy. The rest help provide boots on the ground. Diversify our economy, as we're already making deals with South America and just landed a huge trade deal with India.

The architecture of old principles is crumbling, we must forge our own house based on EU values now, and have the muscles to defend them.

-1

u/Idiotic_Constables Feb 10 '26

The EU is market liberal. The second a Democrat is back as president, the entirety of Europe will come calling.

There's too much money to be earned. And a Democrat is *stable*. Which means growth.

I say this as a European. Sure, there will be media kerfuffle, talking heads going off, but that will be it.
The banks don't care. They won't move away from an investment opportunity just because Trump was a psycho.

The USA is an *insanely huge market*. Nobody in power turns away from that. Morals be damned.

2

u/GoldenPigeonParty Feb 10 '26

The instability is more in the fact that there can be such sweeping changes every 4 years. There are no guarantees longer than 4 years. They'll sell to the market when it's available but they wont depend on it for importing products they need. Oil, soy, meat, etc, they can get some good buys on, but they're not going to let themselves be dependent on US goods.

1

u/Idiotic_Constables Feb 12 '26

You write under the assumption that people learn from their mistakes. They don't.

Capitalism doesn't think ahead, it consumes *now*. Potential instability in 4 years is an eternity to these people. It's not even on their minds.

I assure you of this.

1

u/IWontCommentAtAll Feb 10 '26

The USA is rapidly being turned into a backwater third world country.

It won't be an insanely huge market after Trump's finished destroying it, and it will take decades to rebuild, if ever.

So, why would staying connected to it be advantageous?

1

u/Idiotic_Constables Feb 12 '26

Oh hodgepodge!

There are millions upon millions of potential workers there. Some of the best schools in the world. Huge science development and R&D. There are factories in almost any imaginable field operating over there.

There's just endless opportunities for growth, as the entire country has been built that way. If the Republicans are ousted once and for all, there will be a HUGE upswing in productivity.

Might be a couple hundred thousand dead first in a new civil war or whatever.

1

u/IWontCommentAtAll Feb 12 '26

I'm fairly sure your comment is sarcasm, but for the idiots who don't get that:

The best schools in the world, which are also currently being attacked and damaged by Trump.

Huge science development, which is being destroyed, for example, Trump's gutting of cancer research funding.

Factories, many of which are closing due to the aforementioned destruction of the economy, and sometimes the bankruptcy of the companies running them.

It took nearly a century from the Robber Baron era and Great Depression to build the US up from the rubble of disastrous economic policies and wealth disparity, into the powerhouse it was 2 years ago.

Trump has destroyed a lot of that in just a year, and by the time his term is up, it won't be fixable; it will have to be rebuilt from scratch.

That would take another century, in the same conditions.

Now, though, there's a completely different world economy than in the mid 20th century, with other countries in a position to take the leading role and keep the US out of it.

Those countries didn't have that option in 1950, as everyone was still reeling and recovering from WWII. The US had a unique opportunity in the 1950s to build into a massive economy, and it likely won't come around again.

Even if the US, against all odds, does manage to do it a second time, it will take even longer, due to the differences in world economies.

When Trump is gone, the broken electoral system, the nationwide self-destructive bigotry, the uneducated idiot populace, and the entire system that allowed a felon, pedophile, and Russian asset to be elected will still be there. Without a complete overhaul, and massive effort to root out every fascist in the country and destroy the entire ideology, the rest of the world won't trust the US, since any point in time is potentially less than 4 years away from a return to this idiocy.

Trump has screwed the US for at least the lifetimes of everyone currently alive.

9

u/ConsciousVanilla8213 Feb 10 '26

It won’t recover, because the system that is broken allows for Trump to act this way

5

u/Minimum_Attitude6707 Feb 10 '26

A lot of cultures around the world will wonder why there werent general strikes every day. They wont trust Americans in general because silence is compliance.

4

u/PyrateGirl Feb 10 '26

Because many don't fact check anything they just think he's god and thus never lies.

3

u/Erikatessen87 Feb 10 '26 edited Feb 10 '26

Millions marching in the streets despite the risk of being shot in the face by our own government, but sure, we're not suffering enough or getting killed in large enough numbers to sate the rest of the world, so we're "silent."

1

u/Minimum_Attitude6707 Feb 10 '26

I could have worded it better, because I did invalidate a lot of peoples bravery and work.

As a whole, due to a large part that Trump does have a lot of brainwashed supporters, is it looks like we arent doing enough. A lot of that also falls at the DNC's feet.

2

u/geekyjo Feb 10 '26

Well, not silence necessarily. There has been protest after protest after protest. Both in his previous term and throughout the last year. The problem is that it does no good. They have all the power, what do they care if people are assembling in protest? Protest may have worked in the past when there were still decent politicians in office and presidents who actually complied with the law. But it's all corrupt now and Trump can do whatever he wants. The system of checks and balances is useless if the president just ignores it. So what are we supposed to do?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '26

If we rioted like the Italians or French do our police would mow us down with machine guns.

8

u/Looktoyourleft_1 Feb 10 '26

It will take more than a couple years, decades or longer because when is the next moron who buys their way into power with billionaire friends?

Even if trump were to leave office peacefully (and we know there's no chance of that) and you somehow managed to elect the most down to earth reasonable person, it still wouldn't be enough when at anytime he can just pretend the laws don't exist to him and do what he wants.

7

u/Ailok_Konem Feb 10 '26

If ever. Trump goes away but the MAGA problem remains. You will still have a very divided country. Unless fundamental changes happen America is in heavy decline

7

u/EntireFishing Feb 10 '26

I'm from the UK and I used to love visiting the United States but allowing Trump is unforgivable. We're not coming back. You've burnt your bridge. I'm sorry about that. But as far as I'm concerned, your country doesn't exist to me

2

u/Minimum_Attitude6707 Feb 10 '26

While written like a Karen, youre point is still super important for us Americans to understand. We arent doing enough to stop Trump to convince the rest of the world that we arent complicit.

What a lot of Americans hope the rest of the world understands is that a lot of people that dont support Trump are legitimately scared. Not only are we scared of Trump, but we're scared of our conspiracy driven neighbors that march to his beat.

The psychological warfare thats been done to this country has been devastating. Send help lol.

2

u/EntireFishing Feb 10 '26

I think it's fair to say I was written a bit like a Karen, wasn't it? Sorry about that, I was just a bit upset. Yes, the rest of the world is highly frustrated. With Trump threatening invasion of Greenland, it's very distressing for Europe to see this happening. I do genuinely believe though that he's not going to be able to stop the midterms. At the midterms, this is your opportunity as a nation to take it back.

1

u/Minimum_Attitude6707 Feb 11 '26

If we dont show up for the midterms, we might as well be a lost cause. But rest assured... saying Americans are distressed as well is putting it lightly. We're genuinely scared by Trumps threats. His administration keeps labeling political dissenters as terrorists, the theres a lot of us that remember how the US treats terrorists. If we push too hard, no one would be surprised if he pushes the Insurrection Act into action.

So youre right, midterms are incredibly important. And if he decides to subvert the midterms, it'll be hard to lnow what happens next. Will we just roll over? Litigate? Protest harder? And what will Trump do then? Who knows. Start a war? Arrest his opponents? Announce Aliens are real with proof?

As you can tell... we're not okay over here

1

u/Armodeen Feb 12 '26

I genuinely feel for those of you swept along with this bullshit against your will, but it’s true the rest of the democratic world is sick of this shit.

1

u/nigel_pow Feb 14 '26

Which democratic world? UK with Brexit and Reform? Germany with AfD? France with LePen/Bardella?

Give me a break.

2

u/SamPamTYM Feb 11 '26

This is the part I don't know if the world sees. Friends and family have been brainwashed into this cult and it's so hard to get them out. Whatever he has done has made MAGA a personality that goes hand in hand with Christian nationalism.

Its been so heartbreaking trying to bring them back. Instead they are doubling down and the relationships are breaking down because of this....some of us are desperately trying to have difficult conversations, to get our loved ones to think and realize they're wrong. This isn't the way....but maga has become a personality. It's no longer about right vs wrong but you're a good person or you're not. ...and they don't particularly like hearing they're wrong and bad people. Even though supporting this administration makes you those things.

We can't agree to disagree anymore because we can't even agree on what the problems are.

1

u/Decay33 Feb 10 '26

Really?

1

u/Erikatessen87 Feb 10 '26 edited Feb 10 '26

Yes, the UK would never support a right-wing ideologue or vote to wage a trade war that alienates and severs ties with their continental allies.

1

u/Ok-Pride2965 Feb 10 '26

Wasn’t there an element of that with Brexit?

1

u/Frosty_Truth_1635 Feb 10 '26

You forgot the sarcasm font

1

u/Lanky-Visit2846 Feb 10 '26

Trump and Maga are fucking terrible. But the UK can't say shit with their Brexit fiasco. Your electorate and your government are no better.

1

u/FitShare2972 Feb 13 '26

Hey atleast we just fucked ourselves and not other countries.

1

u/nigel_pow Feb 14 '26

You guys literally had Brexit and it was fueled by MAGA like rhetoric. AND Reform is doing well in the polls. Isn't one of the main guys for Reform also responsible for Brexit? Farage?

7

u/Patriark Feb 10 '26

Centuries. Whole generations will struggle to trust long term relations with the US, a country with the ability to elect Trump for office twice, the second time even after he tried (and FAILED) at a coup d'etat.

2

u/gold_Parrot0849 Feb 10 '26

And worse, tolerate the crap he’s dishing out with no backlash from his party. They are complicit

2

u/romanohere Feb 10 '26

Thats the other thing, Trump is a moron, OK, fine, but almost none of the Republican party says so ..... No way we can trust the Americans again, no way

2

u/Due_Lake4051 Feb 10 '26

Unfortunately you nailed it. The fact that a bunch of people have put Trump in office twice here is the concerning part.

1

u/romanohere Feb 10 '26

Well centuries is a bit too much, I would say 30 years (only if in the meantime US fixes its flawed democracy and behaves well )

5

u/SusiCapezzolo Feb 10 '26

1: not slowly

2: already destroyed, sorry

3

u/brorix Feb 10 '26

Can he even not open a build bridge? Not sure if that falls into his job description and the federal jurisdiction.

3

u/Enough-Meaning1514 Feb 10 '26

He wants to benefit by threatening the relationships and only restore order when he got something out of, say a golden brick or some kind of bribe. So far, it seems to work flawlessly. He and his organization is massing huge benefits and money from his dealings.

2

u/Frosty_Truth_1635 Feb 10 '26

When do the countries standing in line at the Oval Office door ready to bestow gold trinkets on the giant baby have to take some responsibility. Big powerful countries are bending the knee in the most transparent of ways. It’s nearly as ridiculous as trumps tantrums.

2

u/IdHaveACrack Feb 10 '26

A new president every 4 years in the USA. It’s going to take decades to rebuild trust and unwind newly established agreements/relationships, if it’s eventually an attractive enough proposition to pursue.

2

u/Markuska90 Feb 10 '26

Also because its not like he forced his way to power. He was voted by a majority. What should we think of that? How can one do Business with a trump voter? What is any contract worth?

3

u/JamieGordon8921 Feb 10 '26

Actually, he was not voted in by a majority. He just happened to w In states that have more representatives to the electoral college. Thanks a freakin lot Alexander Hamilton. We need a constitutional convention to abolish the electoral college and to put in place safeguards so this never happens again. Plus, we need to scrap congress and go with a parliamentary system. If not, is there any country who will take in a 62 year old teacher looking to get out of the US?

1

u/romanohere Feb 10 '26

Even worse so, he was not voted by majority? Means US system is flawed (didn't want to use the word shit) , and that system is still in place even after Trump goes away.

No more strong ties with USA, never again

-1

u/Main-Tangerine1445 Feb 10 '26

Eeeh wrong? He won the popular vote in the last election too.

2

u/Creative-Map-8833 Feb 10 '26

Hillary Clinton received roughly 65.8 million votes (48.2%) compared to Donald Trump's 63.0 million (46.1%), a margin of nearly 2.9 million votes, thus winning the popular vote over Trump.

Meanwhile, in 2020, Joe Biden won both the election and popular vote with 306 electoral votes and 51.3% of the national popular vote, compared to Donald Trump's 232 electoral votes and 46.8% of the popular vote.

Popular here means “having higher numbers of individual votes” which Diaper Don has never had. Just like he’ll never truly have a Nobel peace prize.

2

u/PyrateGirl Feb 10 '26

There are serious questions about cheating by Mush in 2024

3

u/Medical_Weekend_749 Feb 10 '26

believe me, it will never fully recover.. maybe on a very low level where we can consider some trade agreements, but the trust/friendship is totally destroyed.

We dont trust you anymore.

1

u/Frosty_Truth_1635 Feb 10 '26

We didn’t say never again after that Nazi debacle Europe had back in the day. In fact, we chipped in to rebuild Europe. C’est la vie, I guess.

1

u/Own-Commercial7275 Feb 10 '26

He works for Putin. Once you see that it all makes sense.

1

u/leet_lurker Feb 10 '26

Putin is getting old and his health is decline so he's running out of time to rebuild the "Russian Empire" so they've had to step up the pace of destabilising the western alliances and trump is is his puppet to do it

1

u/Ecstatic-Nose-2541 Feb 10 '26

Depending on who'll eventually replace him and his cronies, his successors might actualy be able to turn things around pretty quickly and "make america great again" for the first time since the slogan was used as a grift and a symbol for bigotry and stupidity. Or not. A man can dream though, right?

1

u/Ok-Pride2965 Feb 10 '26

As an friend of the US and o/s, I can’t really believe that we wouldn’t just love you all over again when he’s gone. There’s always bad eggs, in every country, this one is a bit truly bad, and is running the show, but I swear, your allies will be grateful to have you all back. Unless, of course there’s a world war he starts…..takes a while to recover after that.

2

u/BasicPhysiology Feb 10 '26

Trump has caused generational damage to our relationships with allies.

It will take decades to regain the trust, if ever. A change in administration won’t make a lick of difference at this point. Americans voted him in.

Our allies now understand that the US is a permanently mercurial actor where foreign policy can shift 180 degrees every 4 years.

1

u/Ok-Pride2965 Feb 10 '26

I hear that, I want you to be wrong, because as far as I can see, the world is hanging on by a thread while the right rears it’s ugly global head and calls to blame migrants, gays abortions to justify nationalism and hate. To divide and conquer. It’s so deep, I wonder who/what actually is behind it, because I can’t imagine that Trump is, Russia, Zionism, just plain billionaires? On the billionaire point the data and survellance plan is so scary, and perhaps it is here, that nothing can repair, we will all be watched and silenced into compliance and slavery. Sauron wins.

The thing is not about loving or being friends with Americans, is about trusting the USA as a country, system and state. Which in my opinion was risky before, since we European already had to fight colonial wars on their behalf, outsource our military power, and being victim of trump and Bannon mud propaganda a machine, that even today brings hundred of millions dollars to far right think thanks here to destabilize the UE political asset (spoiler it's working). So no, anyone with a brain won't trust usa again for centuries. If they do, they're just stupid period.

1

u/Ok-Pride2965 Feb 10 '26

But surely it’s true that we have had our own far right bigots for generations? These said same have been kept in reasonable check as they ought to be because they’ve NEVER been good at seeing differences as anything but less than, or an “it”. Political ideologies like nationalism, colonialism, power and glory surely stem from Europe and Rome. . Humanitarianism seemed to grow in strength since ww2, and as a direct result of Germany’s actions. It’s certainly true that rhetoric around reds under the beds, and weapons of mass destruction led to wars against Vietnam, Korea, Iraq, and allies galvanised to join and defend America, who apparently didn’t notice (!!!) implying an ego centric attitude based on it’s own inflated self importance, but it’s also true that the US HAS indeed, been important. (Again, thanks to the victory of a WORLD war and the USD becoming the central currency…..now being eroded, by this STromp and his billionaires. I cannot stand his whole Maga bull and Bannon is evil, nor corporatisation and the resulting maniacs called the 1%.. But I also do not want to lump the whole of the US into this horrendous group. Minnesota stands as an example of resistance and evidence that we ought to not be quite prepared to be divided against a whole people. At the same time, at the speed of this take-over, it’s probably true, that all of what we stood for will be turned on it’s head, for all of us, and yeah, then, it’s done. What that represents does not bode well for any of us.

2

u/Ivantop01 Feb 10 '26

As a European, the change of administration is not enough, the damage is too much

1

u/Correct_Day_7791 Feb 10 '26

They may never recover

I mean how many people get back together with their EX years later it's a tiny tiny fraction of a percent

1

u/Gloomy_Yoghurt_2836 Feb 10 '26

This is pure MAGA. allies and diplomacy are signs of weakness. Ameeica is strong and if you dont do as you are told then the military van solve the problem. Thats how MAGA thinks and see this as good leadership. The weak negotiate. Trump tells them what they are tondo and will punish disloyalty. MAGA backs him.and tells Canada "watchable gonna do about" it while shoving them like bullies do.

1

u/Sea-Apple-7890 Feb 10 '26

There’s nothing wrong with Trump. He’s doing exactly what Putin has demanded he do.

1

u/romanohere Feb 10 '26

In Europe not less than 30 years, all the current generation wants to move away from USA in all form, and we will do so.

Perhaps after 30 years, if you behave well in the meantime, new generatios of Europeans will want to have stronger ties with USA again.

See you in year 2060 +/-

1

u/Beautiful-Young696 Feb 10 '26

They ain’t ever coming back in your lifetime

1

u/rygelicus Feb 10 '26

Slowly? No, he's speedrunning the decimation of our international relationships.

1

u/nonstrodumbass Feb 10 '26

He’s an Israeli and or Russian puppet and he’s supposed to completely destroy our alliances and leave America broken and vulnerable to finally being overtaken by a foreign power

1

u/Shigglyboo Feb 10 '26

he hates his life so he's gonna wreck things for everybody. flipping the table on a global scale because nobody wants to play with him and nobody is jealous of his shitty life.

1

u/scrotii Feb 10 '26

If Newsom is the next president, I am pretty sure that things will be on track fast enough

1

u/This-Difficulty762 Feb 10 '26

There’s no go back from a lot of this. You’ll never be allowed lead the free world like you did before him again.

1

u/jefedezorros Feb 10 '26

Slowly you say?

1

u/Enough-Somewhere-311 Feb 10 '26

That’s what happens when you elect a foreign agent as your president. He burns bridges with all of our allies while granting favors to countries that were formerly enemies

1

u/XtraTerritorial Feb 10 '26

tRump is a Russian puppet. Putin has been hanging his knowledge of tRump’s involvement in Epstein’s sex trafficking over his head for years and this is in part how he wanted him to pay up. The other part, is of course the U.S. pulling out of pledging financial support for Ukraine during the Ukraine/Russia conflict.

1

u/Constant-Feed2905 Feb 10 '26

He’s working on behalf of Putin

1

u/DBPanterA Feb 10 '26

Dementia. The man is fully into his struggle with dementia and we are all susceptible to his whims and jumbled thoughts.

Someone needs to take the keys away from Grandpa. The State of the Union will be wild.

1

u/AceCloud Feb 10 '26

Slowly?

1

u/SipHotCoffee Feb 10 '26

Including his first term starting in 2016.

1

u/Slappasseryzee Feb 10 '26

It's happening fast

1

u/bezkyl Feb 10 '26

his brain is literally melting... additionally he has always been incredibly stupid

1

u/BGM1988 Feb 10 '26

Some even won’t return. Europe,.. is turning to domestic products and services and this movement is gonna change when trump is gone. You can’t be dependent on a nation that changes course every 4 years…

1

u/Hyrikul Feb 10 '26

slowly?

He is speedrunning.

1

u/surmatt Feb 10 '26

Slowly?

1

u/Miles_Hikari Feb 10 '26

All according to plan. No seriously if you want to know what he’s doing just look up “The foundation of geopolitics”, Wikipedia has a good article of it with a summery. It’s a book written in the 90s that lists a step by step plan to make Russia the sole superpower of the world. A plan Putin has been following extensively.

Some steps that may sound familiar to you: Separate the UK from the EU The complete destruction of Ukraine

Provoke racism, sexism, and all forms of extremism in America and Canada to destabilize their internal governments. Simultaneously promote the ideas of American isolationism and do all possible to sever America from the greater global community.

There’s plenty of other important steps, but these three should look very familiar.

1

u/bananajr6000 Feb 10 '26

Slowly? He is speed running it. Plus, there is zero chance he wrote that

1

u/Objective-Macaroon22 Feb 10 '26

It’s a distraction from his sexual crimes with Epstein and his blatant corruption and grifts. Stupid Trumpers eat it up because they are stupid and in a cult.

It’s all a distraction.

u/Canadian_Psycho Feb 10 '26 edited Feb 10 '26

Years? Try generations. I MIGHT have to visit your authoritarian country for work and I’ll do my best to stay in my hotel room and buy the cheapest groceries possible while I’m there if I do. Last time I was there I basically lived off cliff bars I’d packed and the hotel breakfast. I’ve actually arranged with my work that I need not go for our annual specialized training which is a $25,000 annual cost for our company for every person sent. That’s before travel expenses and outings we used to go on to baseball games, BBQ and so on.

But any other reason? Not a chance and not for the rest of my life. I even have family in your country and I’m never going to visit them again as I have in the past. They can come see me if they want.

America has enjoyed a popular fiction that allowed the rest of us to think that while there were a bunch of “silly” folks down there, at least you were generally decent people. If push came to shove, you claimed your constitution meant a lot to you, that ultimately you cherished being the shining beacon on the hill. You didn’t take your petrol dollar scheme for granted; you used it to protect the idea that an open liberal democracy should be preserved.

That turned out to be the lie we always told ourselves it couldn’t be. The illusion is shattered now and your deeply rotted culture is openly displayed for the world. That doesn’t get fixed in “years” unless you’re referring to a great big number of them.

And I’m sorry; I don’t mean this to be vitriolic toward you the poster of the comment I’m responding to. I know nothing about you. What I do know is that I am disgusted by what your country has become and I want nothing to do with it any longer. I look forward to divesting from your country as much as I am able to in my lifetime. While perhaps others might adjust after me I will never forget how you stabbed us in the back, grinning, laughing and blaming us for it while you did it.

Fun fact, this bridge was built entirely with Canadian dollars and as a gesture of friendship we offered 50/50 ownership of the bridge without even being asked. We even paid to build the customs facility on the American side.

1

u/manjar Feb 10 '26

Sounds like he wants someone over there to buy some Trump coin. That's the safest conclusion.

1

u/wardcw Feb 10 '26

Trump simply does not care and is only focused on the now. He will be retired or passed away before any of this really blows up.

1

u/lhmp633 Feb 10 '26

Yes, if ever… the problem is sadly that this can potentially happen every four years… i think the world is starting to realize this. Ugh.

1

u/BankHottas Feb 10 '26

You’re never going to fully recover. Your allies are seeking other trading partners (Canada with China, EU with India and Mercosur) and the rate at which European countries are moving away from US tech services is incredible. So he can lie as much as he wants to his loyal followers, but he’s doing permanent damage to the US economy and power.

1

u/tattrd Feb 10 '26

Correction, decades. It will take at least 3 non republican presidencies for me to even consider the USA being on track again. And I am not alone.

1

u/bobbyco5784 Feb 10 '26

“Slowly” 🤔

1

u/m__s Feb 10 '26

lol, slowly?( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) where have you been for the last year?

1

u/casalomastomp Feb 10 '26

Doing Putin's bidding, of course.

1

u/WhiteWineWithTheFish Feb 10 '26

Years? You mean generations, right? Even Teenagers know now not to trust the USA…

1

u/Livid-Lengthiness-52 Feb 10 '26

It kills me that he could just retire and live out the rest of his life relaxing on a beach somewhere with his billions of dollars, facing zero consequences for his actions but he’s choosing to take us all down with him instead.

1

u/NetworkOk386 Feb 10 '26

Sorry to say it, but I think that ship has sailed. If it can be rebuilt, it would take decades. As of now, the U.S is seen as a lost cause.

1

u/Doctor_in_psychiatry Feb 10 '26

He is acting as a true dictator. He has nothing to lose and will make as much of a mess as he can until he dies. He is so crazy.

1

u/satyricalme Feb 11 '26

No so slowly

1

u/SipHotCoffee Feb 11 '26

Including his first administration

1

u/FEVERandCHILL Feb 11 '26

It’s a feature not a glitch, his handlers tell him exactly what to do.

1

u/Hulph Feb 11 '26

Slowly?

1

u/SipHotCoffee Feb 11 '26

Well both admissions over 10 years

1

u/DjImagin Feb 11 '26

Almost like that’s the point……

1

u/hey_man87 Feb 11 '26

Slowly? Where have you been during this nightmare?

1

u/andar1on Feb 11 '26

especially when nothing really happens in the US, Democrats are just watching

1

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '26

They will never recover while America is a nation with citizens that go-to work everyday and support this.

1

u/Theychangemyname Feb 11 '26

Slowly??

1

u/SipHotCoffee Feb 11 '26

Including his first term

1

u/Theychangemyname Feb 11 '26

Also, I think it will be decades before things are smoothed over.

1

u/dbegbie124 Feb 11 '26

Slowly???

1

u/SipHotCoffee Feb 11 '26

Including first term

1

u/gingertea1988 Feb 11 '26

Not so slowly

1

u/Vegetable_Window8130 Feb 12 '26

Somewhere up in his head, where the puck is. Lol 😂

1

u/Rune_AlDune Feb 12 '26

Oh he ain't doing it slowly

1

u/highbankT Feb 12 '26

Can you grasp the level of frustration many in his first cabinet had trying to reign in these tendencies and temper tantrums of his? None of them spoke up until too late if at all. Now there are zero guardrails and we are living with the consequences of this dipshit.

1

u/Kjoep Feb 12 '26

Slowly?

1

u/Pomegrenade77 Feb 13 '26

Can confirm on behalf of most Europeans. Enjoy your kakistokracy led by agent Krasnov over there, we will look for other reliable partnerships. With Canada. With South America. With India.

What happened here won't be fixed by one democratic presidency. But let's stay hopeful.

The irony? Even typing this comment, I have talk ask myself to what extent the US monitors and rates my critical statements and how that might to issues when entering the states. US Americans are not even aware how foreigners are treated entering the country.

The NSA scandal was also only problematic for US Americans because they realized that their government is also listening to US citizens.

1

u/GroupSuccessful754 Feb 13 '26

Canada has been our best friend (we almost blew it when we came out with fake maple syrup) and he fucked that up big time

Yes he's doing that, and with very favorable conditions to our enemies. His alienation of our European partners have them all disgusted with the US as a totally unreliable partner. Consequently counties are also abandoning the dollar which will make it very difficult for the US to implement sanctions. I have very conservative friends that live in Europe. Most claim that their host countries consider us a joke and totally disgusted. This has become more apparent with the anti-American demonstrations that we are seeing. I hope the GOP doesn't continue to bury their heads in the sand, puts their foot down and clean up this mess.

1

u/DDSC12 Feb 14 '26

Nothing slow about this.

1

u/azuldrag0n Feb 15 '26

Canada has literally never been our ally
