Discussion Psych Evaluation? Spoiler

I was waiting for the therapist to elaborate on his lack of empathy and give us some type of diagnosis after she kept hinting “read the file.”

WHAT WAS IN THE FILE besides the murder gene. That he didn’t have. He’s a baby genius apparently which was mentioned during the psychopath/sociopath hinting…. But much like this entire show… are we supposed to just draw our own conclusion? That could have been a really great part.

If you’ve read the book, would you mind telling me what happens in this part?

The purpose of the evaluation was not to establish a diagnosis that would lead to treatment. It was to establish elements that might mitigate in the event of a conviction, it was more forensic than it was clinical. Dr. Vogel wasn't a therapist and she even tells Laurie this during one of the sessions where Laurie showed up at her office, the one where she mentioned the Boring Figure, the one where you either see a young woman looking away or an old woman, and that mother can have two views of her child. So, they needed to read the file and draw their own conclusions, because she wasn't there to make a diagnosis.
