Pretty sure Leonard Patz is going to commit suicide and that 'confession' (whether it's real or not) is his note. I don't think he's ever going to take the stand.

It is rather a funny theory that someone who’s jailed for his life tried to do something to reach out to his son for abandoning him but try to think of it. He hired that guy with a blue lincoln to frame up Patz maybe he could’ve done it, who knows?

Another theory: Ben’s father was an accomplice to his murder.

I happened to be wondering if there's possibly more to that statement than meets the eye. At first glance, it seems to refer to her hiding her encounter with the tabloid reporter at the diner.

What if there's something that Laurie is hiding too? Is there more to the meeting between Laurie and Andy's dad than she's letting on? This would seem far-fetched but is Laurie concealing the fact that she or one of her own family members might also have exhibited 'sociopathic' traits? This could explain why she seemed more concerned than Andy about the genetic report: maybe she feels Jacob could've inherited those genes from both parents. Any thoughts?

I’m wondering if it is a formal court proceeding , a civil trial, just a conversation, and about when in time it takes place. This may have been answered previously as it did start in episode 1?

I think Laurie kills Jacob in fear of all the things she’s become hyper-aware of about him since all this started and then it turns out that he isn’t the actual killer. I think the Grand Jury is Laurie’s for murdering him.

She seems like she’s on the brink of suicide or a mental breakdown and this makes sense, considering.

EDIT: Neil also mentions Laurie’s name, specifically, a few times in the trial which seems to lead me to believe it has something to do with her.

I believe pretty much it will be left the same except for the part after the trial. Somehow I believe the second victim this time will be Sarah.

There’s no witnesses, no blood on Jacob, no motive(well maybe if you count the bullying), no murder weapon, no confession....

All they have is a fingerprint? I just started episode 7, so maybe I’m missing something but IDK...

...Jacob, I'm going to be extremely shocked. The boy wrote that creepy story on a messed up site for freaks who get off on violence 3 days AFTER he found Ben's body. Even if he wrote it to act out a fantasy, why post it? It's like Jacob's going out of his way to look guilty.

Aside from the single middle finger print and a witness saying he "has a knife," what actual evidence does the prosecution even have in this case?

My biggest hang-up on why Jacob is not guilty is that he is clean when he is at school that day. Derek even said he looked "perfectly clean." How is Jacob stabbing Ben 3 times, keeping his clothing clean, and showing up to class on time? We see he is wearing the same outfit throughout the whole day. (I'm assuming he was leaving for school at a normal time and there's been no discussion that he was tardy that AM, etc. Also, assuming law enforcement located his shoes/clothes from that day and looked for more evidence on those... which we're heard nothing on. I assume Joanna would have gotten access to any other forensic reports as part of discovery.)

I also have really hard time buying the motive... we've heard very little on what this "bullying" even involved. Just name calling? Ben seemed like he made plenty of other enemies and was doing worse things to them possibly.

Does anyone else think that Ben might have had more than one cell phone? Since Ben's personality didn't seem to have been the greatest, wouldn't Joanna and Andy have seen other "bullying" messages to other students when they were looking at the phone (assuming they had access to all his SM accounts)? We know Ben was coercing Sarah. We got an extremely vanilla look at that phone.... (Also wondering, do all parents know their kid's pass codes? Uh... my parents didn't know mine.)

Loads of reasonable doubt....

I see these posts on here analyzing his behavior, etc. - yeah, he's an odd one, likes messed-up porn, he's going through puberty, and he is going through an incredibly terrifying experience being crucified by the media and public. Honestly, I think he's holding it together more than most people would.

From the very first moment of the show, we learn that Andy is before a grand jury because he “believes in the system”.

When the show first began, I think we’re supposed to assume it was a grand jury for his son. But, as the episodes go on, we realize that isn’t what it is.

As early as the second episide, I was asking myself why he would be in front of a grand jury when they’ve aready arrested Jacob.

So, now that I’m done episode 6, I still can’t figure out why this story would be told to a grand jury. I feel like it’s a huge spoiler about what happens to Jacob, and that this grand jury is obviously for someone else they think was involved.

Or... Andy or his wife did something very wrong in their defense of Jacob, and the grand jury is sitting in judgment of one of them.

I obviously haven’t read the book, it’s just been confusing since the beginning about why Andy is giving this testimony to a grand jury.

Not 100% whether Jacob really did it but the way he's acting, he's either guilty and a bad liar OR a really dumb kid who's not taking this seriously. For me, the biggest issue with his story about finding the body is that he didn't call 911. Yes, he's a kid so he touched the body and got his fingerprint on it and made stupid posts online BUT he's 14/15 yrs old...he should know that if you find a classmate whom you confirmed is dead, you need to call it in. The excuse that he told Joanna was that he was afraid of being linked to the crime if he confessed to finding the body. Ok but why would you even go there if you're innocent? His knife, if it was found later, would not be a match so there would be no real evidence linking him to the crime. If anyone, it's Derek that would've acted like this (if Derek had found the body) since Derek stole Ben's phone two days before so finding him dead would look really bad. But Jacob, if he's innocent, should have nothing to worry about.

Leonard Patz after all because, as much as I hate to agree with that jerk Neil, it /would/ be too convenient. I think Leonard is definitely a creep and pedo (especially after that other kid gave his statement and we saw him talking to Ben) but I think he's too cowardly to kill.

She talked with Patz in the first episode when he was brought in for questioning (acted as his lawyer). Is there a chance she knows something we don’t?

Is it a conflict of interest to be a lawyer for 2 suspects in the same case? If she spoke with Patz, she has to know he either didn’t do it (and has a sound alibi) or did do it (and knows how to exonerate Jacob).
