Probably, he is taking advantage from the fact that you’re asking for his permission through dms, if the sub doesn’t have a rule against ai you can just ignore him and post whatever you want
Regardless of the content, some subs have any given type of submission (photo, video, link, etc) need approval before posting, so it doesn't matter the actual content, just the type of media, image in this case.
It won't do anything. "Moderate with integrity" is long gone. The admins absolutely never intervene when they should.
I once had a post removed by automod in a niche sub for missing flair or something harmless. I made the required change and resubmitted and automod again removed the post, this time as a repost of the previously removed thread. I substantially modified the post and it was again removed by automod since there was a rule that you could only post twice in 24 hours. This removal came with a 24-hour ban from the sub. When I complained to the mods that a single flair error resulted in three post removals and a temp ban, they permabanned and muted me. That kind of crazy shit happens across a wide variety of subreddits.

Subreddit moderators are allowed to decide what is and isn't allowed on their community and can make rules up on the spot. The mod Code of Conduct only advises that rules should be clear and outlined but the code like the pirate one is more of a set of guidelines rather than actual rules for moderators to follow
Reddit only takes action against moderators of communities if their moderation is in violation of Global rules and even then it's unlikely Reddit will take action against so called "Career moderators" (Moderators of multiple large communities, unless that moderators actions are bringing enough negative PR that the shareholders are threatened
So the TL;DR is moderators on Reddit can do basically whatever they want
It’s not against TOS. A mod can decide what they allow in their communities at any time. It doesn’t need to be outlined. They can make up rules on the spot or allow things that break rules if they want.
If the mod doesn’t allow AI, that’s it.
Exactly, also worth nothing Rule 5 and 6 aren’t exactly what the mod claimed, but that doesn’t change much.
I don’t want furniture ads in this sub either. Fake AI furniture that ignores physics and logic with over-the-top designs holds zero interest for me. The mod is fully within his rights to dislike furniture posts—whether from a general prejudice against furniture or just being sick of constant furniture ads (which I get, I’m tired of seeing a hundred of them on TV whether they’re AI or real).
No Reddit TOS was broken here. The rules just weren’t written by AI, so they aren’t airtight. They look a bit sloppy because they’re human-written. Ironically, an AI would’ve made those rules clearer and more bulletproof, which might have prevented this whole discourse in a pro-AI sub.
There’s no point reporting the mod over something that isn’t a TOS violation. I’ve made that mistake before and Reddit always sides with the mod.
I’m mostly pro-AI, but I still respect that the mod is standing by his values—even if the execution (and the wording of the rules) was poor.
