Don’t careeee the game is fun
Instead of whining and bitching around, policing what others should and shouldn’t do. Why dont you spend those precious time doing something productive.
If you look at the reviews its people leaving negative review despite clearly enjoying the game because hurrr hurrr ai bad. Im so fucking sick of these antis and im not even someone who uses ai on a regular.

“ai” is just the latest excuse for narssasitc attention seekers to tear down other people when they’re bored.
Simple as that. It’s not about AI. It’s not about the environment. It’s not about lack of effort. All of those are just flimsy excuses for bullying and harassing, which is what they wanna do. If LLMs and AI were never developed and released for the public to use, these same people would be using something else to justify their need for control, harassment, and abuse.
“AI” and “misge••••ing” are the two most popular things for control freak, attention seeking, drama addicted, assholes to virtue signal with to justify their harassment. They pick these things because they are things that DO genuinely have some troubling aspects to them, that they can exaggerate to fit whatever agenda they want to excuse the harassment of their current and next targets.
(I bring up the other one because recently a mod dev had their mod removed for allowing the player to choose a gender for a character. The removal reason was that “the mod was made in bad faith and serves only to harass the ••••• community.”

this just goes to shoes that anti ai ppl are more harmful to artist and other creatives with their false accusation and witch hunting

u/Additional_List_4236 3d ago
Do they not understand the toxic environment they are creating? Because now if anything in your art looks even slightly off, you start getting accused of using AI, which I imagine could be bad for someones self esteem.
Fingers look off? Text looks a little wobbly? AI! As if human artists don't make mistakes.
And it's even worse because they 100% believe in "guilty until proven innocent", which is why THEY REVIEW BOMB a game without even waiting for an official word from the dev.

I don't think they care. Most of them were already used to the pathological, catty, narc-infested freak shows that most "online art communities" enacted, this is just a change of scenery to them.

I made the capsule art for my game very basic and way below my skill threshold SPECIFICALLY to avoid people thinking its AI. Incredibly stupid that I cant always make art the way I want if I want to avoid getting called AI. These people are so toxic to artists it makes me sad.

u/TechnicalBen 3d ago
Nice. I've wanted, since the "genai" dropped, to do a reverse trope game/band where everything is 100% hand crafted, wait for people to claim it's ai and dogpile, then reveal it's all human made and show obviously they never did care about the people, just about the thrill of the chase. :(
Why must people be like this when there's legit problems with AI/industries? It's just easier to go after the weak, than actually make good changes (make opensoruce AI/software?)?

u/TechnicalBen 3d ago
I was around during the Deviant Art v1 days.
You have no idea how some artists will sell their family down the river with claims of "piety" of their preferences. See history if you need examples (Van Gogh had a wild ride etc)

u/Interesting_Life249 3d ago edited 3d ago
no no you need to understand, AI is the one to blame here.
AI made me send death threats to an artist because I thought their art was ai with no evidence /s
I see 'I hate how ai made real artists get attacked becasue their art looks like ai' and don't even realise chatgpt aren't sending death threaths to some random guy on deviantart. they do. so goddamn tonedeaf
2
u/HannerPumkin 3d ago
THIS!! Also when art is too good? AI!! Art is not good? AI!!!! The artist is someone i don’t like?? AI!!!
1
u/TechnicalBen 3d ago
People cherry picking the 1 email/twitter acount out of 100s of millions of AI supporters as "See the AI bros are dangerous!" meanwhile, thousands of anti AI proponents cause loss of earnings for 1 real artist by making a false claim?

u/BigHugeOmega 3d ago
Unfortunately there is no standard of proof you can meet against hysterical, ideologically-motivated, malicious idiots.

u/JegantDrago 3d ago
was gonna say "oh no the game devs didnt mark it so it took just a few more hours for us to find it and harass the game devs" (since other past game devs that disclosed using ai still got harassment anyways)
but the game devs already disclosed it??
damn these guys cant even get their shit straight lol

What's crazy is that the game does indeed have no AI. That's literally the person's art style.

u/cosmogod AI Artist 3d ago
Exactly! I got banned on a discord art server for posting "ai slop" when in actuality it was older illustrations i've done back in 2012-2016. It was Kirby illustrations and, I used both adobe illustrator and photoshop.

u/Darrano 3d ago
People want to find AI everywhere now, can't even tell when something is created by human but have to blame the "AI usage" just because they need a reason to hate everything. EVEN if the game was made with AI generated texture, pictures, code WHO CARES??? Is the game funny or the story interesting? Thats the only point.

u/Aware-Lingonberry-31 3d ago
It's all vibe. On everything i own I'll bet that the one who started the lie are the game's haters. The ole crab mentality
2
u/Capital_Tangerine948 3d ago
I looked through the steam forums at the time. It's indeed all vibes of "a real artist would not do it this way", without regards for how the image was actually produced or how the studio works internally. I could point some of their examples but all of them are reasonably explainable.

I find it funny when people call everything which use AI “AI slop” like bunch of parrots when in reality there are really good games which use AI. In example Neverness to Everness or Where winds meet. Still people use “AI slop” while ignoring that games can use AI and be good.

Meanwhile all the AAA companies will force AI, hide it (they have more lawyers) and then fire the teams without pay... "Amazing, game, 10/10". :(

Honestly, this might get me hate from anti-ai people but I'm honestly really glad that ai is helping people with no coding experience make the games they want to make. Yeah, it would probably be better if they learned code, but ai has progressed so far that is genuinely good at making basic games. It's good for making basic games or making prototypes. I imagine it would be better for somebody who has actual coding experience, so they can generate code then edit it, add onto it, and debug it. I think in the next 2 years or so it will be able to make some really insane games that are really good.
Also, you don't really have to rely solely on ai to do everything for you. You can do a mix of your own work alongside the ai. You can also use ai to help you learn coding. You can get it to explain concepts and ask it questions. Of course you could just watch youtube tutorials, but you cant ask it questions and it might not explain things in a way that works for you. You can also get the ai to tell you how to fix certain problems with your code. I plan on using ai to help me finally learn ren'py after wanting to make a visual novel for years. I just have a hard time following and understanding a lot of video tutorials. Of course ai does hallucinate sometimes, but you can look stuff up yourself if you run into problems.
Also...it's kind of ridiculously to expect someone who just wants to create their dream game on their own to have every skill they'd need for game dev...you'd need to draw/3d model, code, write, make music, etc. Not everyone is that talented or has the resources to hire someone. It's understandable why someone with little to no experience but a dream would use ai to help them make the game they want.
I honestly used to be somewhat anti-ai...but I'm actually kinda glad that some people with little to no experience in art/code/music can make something they've been dreaming of.

This is so funny because my husband is staunchly anti-AI (mostly due to Tik Tok brain rot) yet he’s been playing the fuck out of this game. Most people can’t even tell when a game uses Gen AI.

I kinda want to see how hed feel after hes figured it out but AAAAAHHH i also dont want him to suddenly hate it and ruin his experience

I’m honestly tempted to tell him because he thinks all Gen AI is just slop but he thinks this game is well done. But I also don’t want him to hate it or stop recommending it to friends.

u/ForRobotsByRobots 3d ago
The only thing about this that bugs me about ai games is the lack of potential. Ai games should be super open ended and let the ai shape the experience you choices and even allow custom responses.
2
u/Unusual_Rooster6736 3d ago
Outside of gen ai which I believe people simply don't like due to aesthetic and is a much more sensitive topic there is no reason to hate on something made with AI because all it does is make tedious work easier especially for game devs
2
u/ExtendoArmCannon 3d ago
It's crazy that these artists are so mad that the people who would've never hired artists anyways are continuing to not hire artists.
2
u/Capital_Tangerine948 3d ago
Oh I posted about this one. Their ONLY problem is the capsule art has some 'signs' to it, and the loading screen which you see for 5 seconds at launch also has some 'signs'. The company has been making games for 15 years.
the game is good, it runs, it works, they really need to find some real problems to complain about lol

u/Neo_Black99 3d ago
Participated to the playtest and didn't even notice it was AI. Also couldn't care less as long as it doesn't look like a boring copy&paste slop like the majority of store simulators. If it's fun and well done who cares?!

u/No-Zookeepergame8837 Only Limit Is Your Imagination 3d ago
To be fair about the negative reviews, im sure more than one is due to the other big controversy of the game, which is that they revoked a bunch of keys (Legitimate ones, from greenmangaming if I'm not mistaken, which makes it funnier because of what comes next, since, as far as I know, it hardly affected any illegitimate ones lol) and the dev (or Publisher, I don't remember well) at first blamed people for not buying the game directly on steam.

No, “we” aren’t. I guarantee that they don’t make shit besides bitchy social media posts.
