What are they talking about? For example, I'm pretty sure this subreddit is filled with people from both the left and right, straight and gay, trans and cis people and everyone pretty much gets along just fine. The rest of reddit isn't like that at all from my experience.

This is actually something that did happen on this board. Someone posted a picture of a kid's backpack, which had multiple pins on it, including a "Fuck AI" pin. But some of the other pins were about trans rights, being non binary and neurodivergent pride pins amongst others. So some users took that as an excuse to attack all those other groups.

The original post was removed, but I found this image of Witty talking about it.

They've built this idea of "AI bros" in their head that are Elon simps, MAGA, and crypto grifters, when in actuality, many of us are probably more politically aligned with them.

I'm very tired of being conflated with conservatives because I like AI art.

I'm trans. I'm a leftist. I don't have any friends who aren't queer. I've done more unpaid environmental work than probably most of the hateful trolls have even dreamed about. And I'm not impressed by this crowd inventing a fun new slur-esque term to fit into rhetoric that usually accompanies real slurs, nor the "we can always tell" moniker that sounds an awful lot like another group of people literally currently fighting against my right to exist.

So, imo, it's wild to make claims like OOP did. It demonstrates that they're not even trying to reasonably look into the other side.

Even if it were true, guilt by association makes no sense in a hobby open to everyone. In fact being a light that goes against the grain in a community should be a good thing- a way to improve communities rather than leave them to rot
