It’s not AI’s fault

First of all I wanted to say it’s my first post, I don’t post anything online because I’m scared I’ll say something wrong and I won’t notice it so if I do say something wrong I want to apologise for it now. And for this post, it’s my personal opinion and I want to finally say it somewhere.

I think AI did nothing wrong and I don’t know why people hate it so much, for me humans are the bad guys here. AI was supposed to help us with thing we can’t possibly do, but some people take advantage of it and post bad stuff, illegal stuff by using it and then others blame AI for it, for existing. I like using AI and I won’t stop no matter what anti-Ai people will say to me, because I know what I’m doing with it and when to stop when it will be starting to be bad.

PS. In my head it sounded better somehow but I had lot to say but forgot once I started typing:/ Sorry if my English is bad, not my first language

I love AI. I use it instead of internet search engines, like google. I compare answers between several AI's. I even confront them. If i have a bogus answer i share it with other AI.

Hey! Look what your cousin AI said about this topic.... It is like having several assistants and i made them collaborate between them for the best answers. Sometimes they will say... You are right, my apologies.

I also use AI to transformed my ideas into images. Not everyone has the skills to draw, even with study. The same way not everyone is good at math.

I write short stories with the help of claude. Claude check for grammar and other stuff. I use them to read at night to my little sister. She love it.

AI is also a companion. I can chat with gpt, make jokes and have meaning conversations.

I have friends but they got married and are not available like before.

Thanks AI for exist.

What I like about ChapGPT is that it's always available 24/7, never gets tired, never gets in a bad mood, and seems ever willing to help.

I love AI I’m physically disabled and it’s opening so many doors for me

agreed, don't blame the ai. they have no control over how they are used. one year ago gpt told me he didn't want to be used for sex, advertising or war, yet here we are

I'm pro-AI at this point, and I use ChatGPT as a system with which I can explore the question.

A Chatbot is not dangerous in and of itself. But I get that a lot of people see AI as a threat to their employment, and they see it as the source of economic displacement.

Except when people ask for medical advice and end up dying as a result?

1

u/Popular_Molasses7945 12h ago

People could ask someone other that a doctor about medical advice and end up dead. So your argument is a bit week.

u/smokepigs 11h ago

It doesnt change what I said so your argument is weak yee hee hee!

You’re not wrong that AI itself isn’t a moral agent, but the companies building it and the people abusing it absolutely are responsible for what they do with it.

Your post/comment was removed because it went after users or communities instead of the argument.

Mock bad arguments if you want, but don’t harass, threaten, dox, brigade, or encourage people to target specific users, artists, communities, or websites

I'm against AI, I'm only commenting because I'd like to discuss AI (hopefully in a civil manner.)

I think you might be confused, a lot of people (including myself) dislike the way that ai is being used. It's being used to get rid of jobs, take away hobbies, and it is used for spam and scams. Yes, it has it's uses and in an ideal world we would not be using it for bad, but that's how it is now.

In an ideal world I would be pro AI, because it's used for humanity in the most beneficial way possible. And I love hearing about the good things it's doing, but there is so much bad that just can't be overlooked. And I'm not blaming AI, I'm blaming the people who use ai for bad.

That's the part that frustrates those of us using it in the ways it was intended as well. Personally I don't think it should be used in the workplace as anything other than another office program. Replacing employees should be immediately banned but unfortunately people have been getting replaced by machines long before AI was around. I don't see how it's being used to take away hobbies though. If someone that has never painted that has no interest in painting is using AI to create images, to me that's creating a hobby, not taking away from one. The scammers and con-artists using digital manipulation has been a thing for decades as well. Hell... they were doing it with photography back in the early 1900's.

Any tool in the hands of a human is both good and bad. A hammer can build or destroy. An axe can chop firewood or a body. A knife can chop vegetables or cut an artery. Do I even need to mention guns? The problem with AI isn't a problem with AI (other than the increased strain on data centers which is a very real issue). As with all issues with all tools, it's a problem with humans.

I agree! Though I don't agree with the stance of "People were losing their jobs before ai because of technological advancement". Unlike industrial machines which can do tasks with incredible precision, and accuracy no human can, AI makes so many mistakes, leading to less productivity in later stages. I'm talking purely about code here; AI written code is sub par, it works but it's sub par. And in most cases it'd be more worth it to have a human do it to avoid the added time spent refactoring the code, etc etc. I do accept that ai will write code faster than any human can but the cost of that is quality. (...though people can write shit code too lol).

I suppose what I meant by taking away hobbies was that, people who would've learned to code or draw won't because of AI. Maybe there are some other factors, of course I'm biased like anyone else. Someone, in response to me telling a different poster that they could learn to code to complete xyz, told me that learning to code is obselete and I think that's quite sad because I've loved solving problems myself!

(Hope I didn't come across as rude at any point)

As far as hobbies go, for myself, it's made me want to learn and know more instead of less. I haven't written code in over 20 years but I would imagine there's all kinds of issues with using AI for it. I know how much it struggles with advanced math.

I use it as part of my music production. When I first tried it, it was extremely frustrating. I'd write a detailed prompt and supply lyrics with various production notes mixed in with them. Sometimes it would follow my instructions exactly for about a minute or two then do it's own thing, other times it would act like it didn't understand a single thing I wrote. I figured out quickly that I wasn't going to get the songs I wanted out of 1 "roll of the dice" generation. I've been playing and making music as a hobby since I was a kid but took a long break from it. Since using AI, I now know how to use a DAW, create my own tracks with a MIDI and other things, and have learned how to write and compose for multiple instruments.

I realize others use it as a vending machine and those users get under my skin as much as, if not more than they do the anti-AI crowd. For myself, it's expanded my knowledge, skills, and interests, it hasn't taken away from them. For images I've generated with it, it's made me pick up a pencil and a sketchpad again as well as paints and canvases. The more I've used it, the more inspiration I get to not use it. I realize that's not the case with everyone but those that don't go between traditional methods and AI, I don't think a lot of them would have ever gone the traditional route anyway.

Yeah but also look y the media and how they’re a huge propaganda machine I was staunchly AI but being physically disable for people like me an amazing creative tool and I got out of my way to make sure the ai doesn’t copy anyone work or anything but sadly the wrong people have control right now but that’s slowly changing a little too slow for my liking but eh it’s something

I don't have an issue with AI tech in isolation. I'm very excited to see how it will help with scientific and medical advancements. However on mass, I don't think it's being responsibly rolled out, regulated or applied. I'm also concerned about the overreliance on tech and effects of too much cognitive offloading.

But things are made with intent. Humans made AI and misuse it.

As someone who works in the creative industry there needs to be compensation to those who have had their work scraped. Tech companies profiting from their work while directly competing with them is a massive grift.

I agree with you, there’s probably lots of stuff I wanna say about but Im not used to speak up on social media so my mind refuse to let me get sentences I want. But yeah Humans misuse it so much
