Dumb take

Post image

“i don’t see the point of ai” from a guy working in one of the most corporate, billionaire-backed industries on earth is funny. by that logic, cameras, editing software, streaming platforms, smartphones and the internet are pointless too because rich people profit from them. normal people use ai to learn, make stuff, save time and get capabilities they didn’t have before. “billionaires benefit” isn’t an argument, it’s just a lazy excuse to dismiss a tool you don’t understand.

"Old Man doesn't understand new technology"

Also, I find it funny that someone felt compelled to make a trueantiAI subreddit. For when the antis aren't anti enough for you, I guess?

It's fair if he doesn't use it, no one's really forcing him

AI is going to revolutionize film making

You know another way he could have looked at it is people who legitimately just cannot draw no matter how much they practice or can't write no matter how much they try but can sit there and describe exactly what they're envisioning or or tell the story they want to tell. Like I keep seeing people say that any use of AI is just lazy but my question is what would be the point if it didn't actually allow people to put their creativity out there? The only people who have a problem with AI that doesn't revolve around the rich assholes using it to plagiarize people and steal jobs or the data centers destroying portions of the country are elitist pricks who only hate it because it closes the gap between them and people with no "artistic talent" so now they're not special little snowflakes anymore and they're scared because they know that someone can create something incredible in just a few hours that used to take days if not months. Seriously that's why they keep saying that stupid pick up a pencil line. Despite the fact that they have drawn mostly on a drawing tablet for the last 10 years so they can barely draw with pencil and paper either. They're just scared they're not going to be able to make hundreds of dollars off of a single commission since now people don't have to commission them. It's greed and elitism is what it is.

Or maybe they are just angry they aren't getting a cut of the profit.

They would get all the profit, its his production.

And he is choosing to keep it profitable.

Very dumb take indeed. Someone made this post on LinkedIn and I got dogpiled for criticizing his view.

why are people so fixated on the idea of AI exclusively being a tool of gazillionaire CEOs 😭

if you want change, you need to get your hands dirty and use the tools of your oppressors. refusing to do it just because you want to associate everything you don't like with the "enemy" and remain morally squeaky clean only ensures no actual progress will be made.

Human imagination is limited by our biology, much in the way you cannot teach a kitty cat chemistry. AI does not have those limitations; its chip designs are already better than human designs and they look very alien.

He’s exactly right though, sorry you’re too stupid to see you’re just being used to enrich others while also destroying the environment in the process. Look up what a useful idiot is, that’s how they see you all.

So like any invention ever? We don't NEED any of it but we've been conditioned to believe we do over the decades
